Chapter 11: The New God King
The matter of Heavenly Father Uranus granting the universe its final bounty was something the gods had no time to ponder deeply now, for the most thorny issue remained unresolved.
That was Eros—the origin of Love and Desire.
The Love and Desire severed from Uranus’s body was still wrapped in massive spiritual origin spiritual seeds and the Heavenly Father’s divine blood, slowly drifting down from the endless heights, emanating energy that unsettled the gods.
None of the gods dared to touch it, fearing that the massive spiritual origin, along with the embodiment of Love and Desire, would powerfully impact them, causing them to lose their self and become slaves to desire.
At the same time, the Heavenly Father Uranus’s divine blood continuously dripped down, sprinkling onto the Earth like golden raindrops. Within these severed spiritual fluids of His were contained the Heavenly Father’s final ferocity and hatred.
The first large drops of spiritual fluid to fall to the ground, nurtured by the Earth Mother Goddess Gaia, transformed into the three Furies who would later strike terror into hearts—Erinyes.
They are spirits of revenge, their hearts filled with vengeful rage, their mission to punish violations of oaths and crimes against kin.
They never relent on any act of heinous brutality, especially the sin of kin-slaying, which they pursue relentlessly.
The haughty and tyrannical, oath-breakers, and those who neglect guests must all face their merciless punishment.
They are, respectively: Alecto: meaning “the unceasing one,” her vengeance endless.
Megaera: meaning “jealous one” or “enraged one,” her anger burning like fierce flames.
Tisiphone: meaning “avenging voice” or “blood-for-blood enforcer,” her voice heralding the end of sin.
Later mortals, out of fear, dared not call them by name “Furies,” instead honoring them with gracious titles like merciful goddesses, venerable goddesses, solemn goddesses, hoping for a sliver of merciful forgiveness at judgment.
After this, the divine blood falling onto the Earth transformed into the Gigantes, Greek: Γγαντε; also translated as giants.
They possess terrifying power, embodiments and symbols of Uranus’s violence, their bodies containing destructive force.
Finally, scattered drops of spiritual fluid fell to the Earth, growing into clusters of ash trees, the best wood for crafting spears.
From these ash trees were born many ash tree nymphs, symbols of war, representing the world’s conflicts.
These were the final three forms of life evolved by Heavenly Father Uranus, His ultimate mark left in the universe.
The Earth Mother Goddess cared not for these newly born living beings, even though they were all gods; in the Mother Goddess’s eyes, they were no different from mortals.
What the Mother Goddess now feared was the Love and Desire gradually descending, soon to arrive on the Earth.
She dared not imagine what uncontrollable existence would be born if Love and Desire once again merged with the Earth.
Moreover, massive spiritual origin and Uranus’s divine blood now entwined around Love and Desire, this combined power filling her with unease.
She constantly urged her children, those Titan Gods who had already mastered cosmic order, to quickly find a method to handle the embodiment of Love and Desire.
The gods were all at a loss, fearing both losing themselves to lust and the unforeseeable existence that might arise from the Earth combining with Love and Desire.
However, having them contact that chaotic and powerful force was absolutely out of the question.
In the end, it was Cronus who stepped forward.
He demanded that all deities return to their duties, restoring the universe to healthy operation and stabilizing order.
Then, He wielded His divine authority to make the Earth grow plants that blotted out the sky, wrapping Himself in endless spiritual plants and forging armor enveloping His entire body from endless spiritual plants.
Then He cradled this Love and Desire, resolutely charging toward the world’s edge.
Along the way, the spiritual plants on His body, upon contact with that pure spirituality and divine blood, continuously transformed into nymphs, forever beautiful and brimming with vitality.
The gods watched Cronus race toward the world’s edge, unsure of what Cronus intended, until Oceanus sensed something amiss, an unprecedented sense of crisis overwhelming his heart.
Cronus, the instant he reached the world’s edge, unhesitatingly hurled that Love and Desire, the massive spiritual origin, and the remaining divine blood into the already restored vast ocean current!
Oceanus had no time for horrified fear, not even time to utter a scream; his vast consciousness was nearly instantly destroyed under the powerful spiritual lust impact!
At this critical moment, it was the freshwater goddess Tethys who, without hesitation, merged into the ocean current, bearing this terrifying spiritual impact alongside Oceanus.
Under her divine authority to nourish and comb the world’s source flows, she diverted this endless spirituality onto the Earth.
In that instant, the two deities gave birth to three thousand Potamoi, meaning all rivers, the collective term for river gods, all sons, and three thousand Oceanids, the collective term for ocean goddesses, all daughters.
The “three thousand” here is a figurative number, representing the infinite. From then on, all rivers and lakes in the universe, all freshwater resources, were birthed by Oceanus and Tethys.
All rivers are governed by the Potamoi, all other freshwater resources by the Oceanids.
Oceanids may also be called oceanid goddesses or river-encircling goddesses, belonging to the nymph ranks, also specifically termed maiden god race.
The Potamoi and Oceanids are vast in number, with enormous gaps between upper and lower limits. The upper limit can single-handedly challenge primal Titans, the lower limit cannot defeat demigods, or even heroes.
Because Tethys sacrificed herself to save him, Oceanus barely preserved his self, avoiding total destruction of his consciousness.
Moreover, He turned misfortune into fortune, greatly expanding his influence in the universe and gaining more water-related authority.
Most importantly, He was thus united with Tethys, their relationship from then on intimately bound.
Oceanus and Tethys were both mild-tempered by nature; for the sake of the newly stabilized world, Oceanus did not turn hostile with Cronus, who had nearly sent him to his end, temporarily swallowing this resentment.
But in his heart, he no longer dared trust Cronus, and thus hatred for Cronus took root.
Nevertheless, all problems and threats had been resolved; the universe temporarily restored calm.
And the universe could not lack an order coordinator; in this war overthrowing Uranus, Cronus, with the greatest merit, undisputedly became the new God King.
His courage and responsibility won Him authority to rule all of the universe.
As the gods swore allegiance to Cronus, the universe finally returned to the right track once more.
