Chapter 23: The Panicked Young Goddess
The silver-tongued Zeus, facing the beautiful-eyed maiden, very seriously raised the question:
“May I ask, Daughter of Oceanus, Daughter of the Ocean, are they all so fresh and beautiful?”
“Especially you, bright-eyed Goddess Metis? So rich in wisdom, and so flawlessly beautiful.”
“Though it may make me seem shallow in knowledge, truly, I have never seen a goddess more beautiful than you.”
Metis pursed her cherry lips, speeding up even more, a streamer flashing in the pure Ocean.
Zeus caught up and asked: “The Ocean is already infinitely pure and beautiful, but I am certain that this beautiful Ocean is so beautiful precisely because of you. Even the infinitely beautiful Ocean Current can only serve to accentuate your beauty.”
Metis’s speed increased further. Though she was the Goddess of Wisdom, she had never seen such an enthusiastic male god. Facing Zeus’s words, she felt inner panic, not knowing how to respond.
But shaking off Zeus was impossible for her.
No matter how fast she went, Zeus closely followed behind her.
All the way to the edge of the Ocean Current, the bold-tongued silver-tongued Zeus, chattering nonstop, finally temporarily closed his mouth.
Time for serious business.
The beautiful young goddess was about to start working busily and should not be disturbed further.
After Zeus shut up, Metis secretly breathed a sigh of relief in her heart, inwardly pondering: ‘Are the gods within the world all like this? Clearly about to do something extremely dangerous, yet still so optimistic.’
Along this journey, Zeus had truly disturbed her mind.
In her long divine life, she had never seen such an enthusiastic god; a strange feeling lingered in her heart.
This almost made her usually clear and sharp mind become muddled, filling her heart with strangeness and tension, accompanied by instinctive vigilance.
She instinctively sensed a feeling of “danger.”
She had already secretly resolved in her heart to keep her distance from this Son of Cronus.
The strange and dangerous feeling lingered in her heart.
Zeus quietly watched the young goddess at the edge of the Ocean and the Universe, collecting “matter” that seemed both void-like and substantial.
That was the mysterious creation evolved at the boundary of the Universe’s expansion, where Ocean Pure Water intertwined with Chaos.
That was a special existence not yet converted from “void” to “existence,” which only a Daughter of the Ocean possessing certain Ocean authority could capture.
Moreover, the proportion within it was extremely difficult to grasp—needing to turn the void into substance for use, while perfectly preserving the essence of the void.
Using this void power, different from any existing thing in the Universe, to sever God King Cronus’s tight connection with the Universe, seizing that fateful instant of isolation.
It sounded simple, but in reality, even Oceanus would find it not so easy to achieve.
Grasping the right measure perfectly required utmost care and unparalleled control.
Zeus inwardly admired the maiden before him; she was completely different from those Daughters of the Ocean who only knew how to play all day. Even unable to enter the world, this Goddess of Wisdom had never wasted her time.
Not only did she pay attention to all information within the world, but she had also independently researched such an extraordinary profound object—this wisdom and ability truly astonished the gods!
Well-deserved reputation. He had already secretly resolved in his heart: a god like this must be held in his own hands!
If such a god stood on the enemy’s side, he wouldn’t even be able to sleep soundly.
Watching Metis working with full focus, Zeus patiently waited a few years, then quietly returned to the world within.
When Metis finally succeeded, she looked around, but only found herself alone.
She gently stored away the prepared “fine wine,” a trace of barely perceptible melancholy surging in the depths of her heart.
She wanted to go look for Zeus, but after hesitating, she decided to wait in place.
When Zeus stepped onto the Ocean edge again, he saw the absent-minded young goddess gazing at the cosmic starry sky.
Metis keenly sensed Zeus’s aura. Still facing the Universe, without turning her head, she said: “The item is ready. As for how to make the God King drink it, that’s your problem.”
A clear laugh rippled through the water waves: “No rush on that, I’ll figure out a method. Look at this.”
“Hm?” Metis turned to look at Zeus.
When she saw the vibrant, life-pulsing flower crown in Zeus’s hand, her small vermilion mouth slightly opened, her eyes revealing unprecedented surprise.
This was something extremely rare in the Ocean, or rather, almost impossible to exist.
The Ocean’s endless pure power would thoroughly dissolve all mortal things into pure water, leaving no trace.
Zeus came before Metis, his actions gentle and natural, casually placing the flower crown on the beautiful hair of the Goddess of Wisdom, which flowed like purple mist.
He examined it carefully from both sides and nodded in satisfaction.
“Though Daughters of the Ocean need no adornments, especially you, flawlessly beautiful Metis. But giving mortal things a chance to approach you is also their honor.”
Metis gently pursed her cherry lips and softly asked: “You left to prepare this?”
Zeus nodded openly, his smile warm: “Water is the source of life; how can it lack the companionship of life?”
“Rest assured, as long as it’s not deliberately destroyed, this flower crown can eternally exist in the Ocean.”
The wise maiden raised her hand, her slender fingers gently touching the flower crown on her head.
She could clearly feel the rich and pure power of laws within it.
It looked like an ordinary flower crown, but it remained undamaged in the Ocean, with the flowers vibrant and fresh—this showed how much thought had gone into it.
It carried the rich aura of the Mother of All Things; only the blessing of the Mother Goddess of All Things could allow a mortal object to eternally exist amid the all-devouring Ocean Current.
Metis’s thoughts were correct; the actual creation process was far more troublesome than she imagined.
For this flower crown, Zeus forged the framework from almost unchanging fine gold, then asked Ash Tree Nymph Adrasteia and Ida to collect parts of their own bodies from over a hundred flower nymphs to weave it.
After completion, he asked God of Bees Melisseus to seek a blessing from Mother Goddess Gaia.
Mother Goddess Gaia personally bestowed multiple law blessings of growth, prosperity, immortality, vitality, and more upon it.
On the flower crown were over a hundred colorful small buds waiting to bloom; with a infusion of divine power, the flowers could instantly blossom, displaying their most gorgeous posture.
Such great effort was required to create a flower crown that could eternally bloom undying in the Ocean.
As long as not deliberately damaged, this flower crown could exist until the world’s destruction.
Though the gods were very idle, no deity would expend such enormous effort for a purely mortal ornament. Except for the gods living in the Ocean, other gods had no need for this.
Moreover, not just any god could request Mother Goddess Gaia to personally act.
This small item, let alone in the Ocean Current, was an absolutely unique existence in the entire Universe.
For a moment, Metis’s mind was filled with myriad thoughts, complex and indescribable; this unprecedented special emotion even made her feel a trace of panic.
She shoved the carefully prepared bottle of “fine wine” to Zeus, her voice gentle yet slightly hurried: “Now you can go do your thing.”
Zeus didn’t dawdle, smiling and nodding: “With the help of the Goddess of Wisdom, the matter will surely succeed.”
“Once my matter succeeds, I’ll properly thank the beautiful goddess.”
With that, Zeus turned and left, without any superfluous words.
Metis quietly watched Zeus’s departing back, and only after a long time did she gently remove the flower crown from her head, carefully admiring it.
At the world’s edge, she had once glimpsed through the world’s seams the scene of flowers blooming on the Earth from afar.
However, she had never personally touched the softness of petals, felt their delicate texture, or smelled the fragrance of flowers, not knowing how fragrant they were.
She carefully and gently stroked the petals; it was a touch completely different from water, filled with the unique delicacy and softness of life.
The vibrant colors on the flower crown formed a stark contrast with the eternally single-color, pure and flawless Ocean Current.
This was a beautiful color never seen in the Ocean Current.
She gently infused divine power, and the hundred flowers on the flower crown slowly bloomed, gorgeously dripping with dew.
She gently sniffed the floral scent; under the Mother Goddess’s blessing, the hundred colorful flowers on this flower crown forever bloomed with the most vibrant light of life.
Each flower bud only slightly opened, with restrained fragrance. Only when she gently touched a certain flower would that one fully bloom, releasing its unique fragrance.
This ingenious design allowed the various floral scents to harmoniously coexist without mixing or disrupting each other’s fragrance.
Zeus had truly put his heart into it.
She admired it for a long time before carefully placing the flower crown back on her head, then waved to summon a water mirror, gazing at herself in the water.
Originally, Metis wore nothing on her entire body except the robe condensed from starlight, not even shoes.
A pair of jade feet more exquisite than marble were boldly bare, their transparent toenails reflecting shimmering waves in the water, pure and natural.
Now, with the colorful flower crown added to her purple beautiful hair, she was even more beautiful than the flowers, incomparably lovely.
Looking at her reflection in the water mirror, a clear and obvious ripple flashed in her golden eyes.
It was an unprecedented maiden’s shyness and joy.
Immediately after, she hurriedly headed to the palace deep in the Ocean Current.
Her current mood was too peculiar, making her faintly uneasy; only by returning to her parents’ side could she feel a trace of steadiness and calm.
Then she shocked all the Ocean Gods.
