Chapter 85: What If They Just Take Care Of Me On The Spot?
In Its original expectations, coming to pledge allegiance, the Son of God King would surely accept.
This was a good opportunity to display broad magnanimity and mercy, allowing the Gods to be more convinced.
Besides, someone had recommended It, we are all family!
Mother Clymene, that was the sister of Goddess of Wisdom Metis, and also the beloved daughter of Ocean God Oceanus.
With the status of the Goddess of Wisdom here with the Son of God King, the Son of God King surely wouldn’t disregard this bit of favor, right?
However, after arriving, Its respected Aunt Metis went to see the Son of God King, and surprisingly hadn’t come out after a long time.
This really shouldn’t be.
Isn’t it just a matter of a few words? How could it take so long?
It wouldn’t have walked into its own death, right?
No way, right?
The Son of God King wouldn’t really plan to dispose of It conveniently, right?
Even if not accepting Its allegiance, it shouldn’t go that far, right?
The Son of God King wouldn’t really make the most wrong decision, right?
Cautious Prometheus, Its wise brain spun rapidly, various possibilities swirling in Its mind, growing more nervous the more It thought, Its original confidence almost dispersed.
Until the beautiful and elegant Metis finally appeared before It, although her face was expressionless, Prometheus keenly detected an irrepressible joy and fulfillment emanating from her, and only then did Its suspended heart finally settle.
However, It also felt faintly disappointed in Its heart.
If Son of God King Zeus were truly someone who bore grudges and had a narrow mind, and He was hostile toward It, even really intending to act against It, that wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing.
If the Son of God King really did that, then the outcome of this war might not be certain.
But now it seemed, the Son of God King, just as It had anticipated, made the most correct and beneficial decision.
Just didn’t know if the Son of God King had seen through Its scheme?
Thinking of this, Prometheus felt somewhat uneasy in Its heart.
If Zeus had already seen through Its thoughts, yet still chose to accept It.
Then, this Son of God King would have what sharp insight, and what terrifying depth of mind!
Accepting It was indeed the most correct and beneficial decision, but if He had seen through Its thoughts, then Its actions would be the greatest humiliation and calculation against Zeus.
The taste of being fooled and calculated isn’t pleasant.
Especially since the other party was the Son of God King, and very likely the future God King, a powerful God who already now had the full support of many Great Gods.
It clearly already possessed the power to act willfully, yet could still perfectly control Its emotions and preferences. Such a deep-minded, far-seeing God King was undoubtedly a terrifying existence.
If that were truly the case, then It must show even greater loyalty and humility to make up for that little “calculation” in Its heart.
It must do everything to eliminate the resentment and barrier in Zeus’s heart; otherwise, days in Olympus in the future would probably not be easy.
Now, Prometheus truly felt a bit of small regret in Its heart; It shouldn’t have thought of calculating against Zeus!
When Prometheus stepped into that grand Divine Palace, Its gaze touching upon Zeus high on the Divine Throne, emanating endless majesty, Its already somewhat uneasy heart instantly added three parts awe.
This was the first time It had gazed so closely at this Supreme God King destined to rule the entire Universe in the future.
Zeus high above, at this moment sat steadily on the Divine Seat, his face serene, not revealing a trace of expression, like a magnificent statue carved from the purest Marble, his face handsome and filled with inviolable majesty.
At His side, Goddess Metis stood gracefully, posture upright, likewise expressionless, gaze deep, emanating wisdom and majesty all around, like a silent sculpture guarding the God King’s will.
Prometheus secretly took a deep breath, bowed respectfully in salute, voice steady: “Respected Son of the Goddess Queen, illustrious Zeus, Son of Iapetus Prometheus offers You the highest respect.”
After a long silence of several breaths, a majestic and deep voice finally came from above the Palace, carrying an unquestionable penetrating power: “Son of Iapetus, God of Foresight, perhaps I should call you the God of Cunning instead.”
“Son of Iapetus, could your insignificant cunning thoughts deceive me, with Wisdom standing by my side?”
“I wonder if your Father God who controls Death Weaving would also weave Death for His child?”
Prometheus’s heart skipped a beat, suddenly sinking.
Zeus’s reaction completely mismatched all of Its prior expectations!
Its wise brain began to operate rapidly, pondering countermeasures in an instant.
It slowly spoke, voice carrying seemingly sincere, perfectly measured deference: “Respected Zeus, I do not know why You would say such things, but I, Prometheus, absolutely have no disrespectful thoughts toward You!”
“Goddess of Wisdom Metis stands solemnly by Your side; who in the Universe would dare to show off petty cleverness before You?”
“All thoughts cannot escape the unparalleled wise Goddess Metis, nor You, the insightful God King who sees through everything.”
A light laugh, like a breeze, brushed past Prometheus’s ear, yet Prometheus only felt immense pressure.
Then, Zeus’s majestic voice resounded again: “I respect the honor of every God, I will lead the Gods to establish a better world, and fairly allocate to Them the honor They deserve.”
“However, my tolerance and mercy will absolutely not be granted to those Gods who intend to fool and humiliate me.”
“Son of Iapetus, a God should not fool or humiliate another God whom He respects, right?”
Zeus’s voice was very calm, yet Prometheus felt his throat go dry, struggling to maintain composure, said in a slightly hoarse voice: “Tolerant Zeus, Your magnanimity makes every God deeply admire.”
“What You say is the most sincere, most irrefutable reason; every God should return respect to the God who respects Him.”
“Please wise You discern clearly, I, Prometheus, absolutely have not a shred of disrespectful thought toward You!” Its posture became even more humble.
“Your broad mercy is known to all Gods, Your mercy known to all Gods without exception, Your power holds up the heavens and grasps the earth, Your wisdom sees through the Universe; I, Prometheus, only wish to loyally serve under You, at Your command.”
Zeus slowly smiled: “Prometheus, as long as one is willing to follow the order I establish, no matter who, Olympus will open its gates to welcome Their arrival.”
“I, Zeus, will absolutely not irrationally vent anger on any God because of wrong choices made by a God’s kin or friend.”
“Every God need only be responsible for what they have done.”
“Bear their due consequences.”
