Chapter 17: “want To Go See Her?”
After finishing the last bite of food, Lin Xiuyuan put down the spoon, his gaze unconsciously glancing to the side.
Krystal next door had barely touched her chopsticks; she had spent her entire mealtime in a daze.
Lin Xiuyuan, who had also experienced this state on the first evening after learning about the time-space door, knew very well how great the impact was in this regard, so he didn’t disturb her.
After all, traveling to the future might just be a shock and curiosity about new things;
But returning from the future to the past, the information instead became the least noteworthy part.
That regret for certain past things that couldn’t catch up, or the heart-wrenching longing for certain people, that was the most heartbreaking part.
However, Krystal, who was over 30, had been through a lot of ups and downs, so she digested this current state in just the time it took for one meal.
After noticing that Lin Xiuyuan had finished eating, she asked, “Full?”
“That’s enough, I can’t eat too much.”
“Young people should eat more.”
Krystal had wanted to use this care to draw closer their relationship, but she heard Lin Xiuyuan’s response, “Krystal, these words of yours remind me of a term I learned in the future.”
Krystal curiously raised her eyebrow, “What things?”
Lin Xiuyuan couldn’t help laughing out loud, “You have such a strong mom vibe.”
“Ah~ shut up.”
Clearly, this actress also browsed Douyin in her daily life, so her reaction speed to some novel internet slang was at the forefront.
So much so that upon hearing this term from Lin Xiuyuan, she immediately reacted, glaring shyly and annoyed at this guy who spoke carelessly.
Although she was over 30, she still had a very long way to go before reaching the ‘mom’ level, and it was even very possible it wouldn’t happen.
After scolding this young boy, Krystal stood up, “Since you’re full, come out with me for a stroll, and digest the food along the way.”
Lin Xiuyuan, who stood up following her, gestured to the food in front of her, “Isn’t it me who needs to digest? You barely ate anything.”
“I have a drama to shoot when I get back, can’t eat too much, or it won’t look good on camera.”
Lin Xiuyuan, as a photography assistant, could understand this explanation from Krystal.
It was nothing more than the lens distortion principle; there was no way around it, it was a hardware issue, and could only be physically digested by the person in front of the lens.
Afterward, the two walked out of the private room, and when preparing to leave the restaurant, Krystal asked the boss’s wife for a mask.
It wasn’t until they held the umbrella and walked into the rain curtain that Lin Xiuyuan curiously asked, “How did you know the boss’s wife would have masks? At this time, the things from your side haven’t happened yet, they’re not usually stocked.”
“Because these masks were specially prepared for our group.”
Krystal, wearing the mask, couldn’t help but gaze sentimentally at the surrounding streets and shops that were both familiar and strange.
And because the umbrella was too small, as the rain curtain gradually grew heavier, her body leaned closer and closer to Lin Xiuyuan’s side, eventually pressing right up against him.
That soft, numb touch made Lin Xiuyuan unconsciously pull his arm away a bit, causing the umbrella to tilt accidentally, nearly letting them get wet.
Fortunately, a slender, fair little hand timely pulled the umbrella back, “What are you doing? You got me wet.”
Krystal’s eyes were full of light laughter as she spoke.
“I was afraid you’d think of me as a pervert; I didn’t do it on purpose just now.”
Young people were still young people; although he really liked it in his heart, his courage was very small.
So much so that upon hearing his response, Krystal gave him a deep look, “You’re worried that I’d think you’re taking advantage of me?”
Lin Xiuyuan fell silent, which also represented acquiescence.
“Relax, it’s just normal contact, nothing that exaggerated.”
“How about buying another umbrella roadside?”
Being able to stick close to a great beauty, Lin Xiuyuan really liked it, but his body’s instinctive reaction, along with the accelerating blood and heartbeat, couldn’t help but make him a bit embarrassed.
However, after seeing his current appearance, Krystal really liked this situation of teasing a young man, so she smiled and said.
“Forget it, I originally wanted to chat with you for a bit and get familiar. Plus, the roadside is full of pedestrians avoiding the rain; if someone recognizes me and takes photos to post online, wouldn’t that be an even bigger problem? So just bear with it, young man.”
Faced with Krystal’s teasing and flirtatious words, it couldn’t help but make Lin Xiuyuan a bit puzzled.
“Over a dozen years of time, can really change a person this much? The you I saw last night was very aloof and taciturn, completely different from the you now.”
“Aloof and taciturn? Probably acting aloof. Hahaha, but that’s also just because you don’t know me yet; once you’re familiar, it should be much better.”
Krystal playfully smiled after a small complaint about her past self.
But soon she heard Lin Xiuyuan’s voice, “Will it be like you now?”
“How could it be.”
Without the slightest hesitation, Krystal shook her head, paused her tone, then sneered, “And it’s best if it doesn’t become like me; you wouldn’t think this current appearance of mine is my true nature, right?”
That last sentence was Krystal’s counter-question to Lin Xiuyuan.
The latter was stunned, then answered very straightforwardly, “I don’t know, but I feel it probably isn’t.”
Hearing the answer, Krystal smiled without speaking.
The young man didn’t understand a sense of boundaries and continued to press, “Then what is your true appearance like?”
“Want to know?” Krystal smiled along.
Seeing Lin Xiuyuan nod, she pursed her lips into a smile again, “Depends on your performance, and we’ll see if there’s an opportunity later; wait until we know each other a bit more before I reveal my true nature to a young boy I’ve just met.”
Under the dim yellow streetlight, the two walked side by side, rain pattering gently on the umbrella surface, like some wordless tacit understanding.
With the help of the rain curtain outside, this narrow space under the umbrella seemed to pull their distance even closer.
Lin Xiuyuan suddenly slowed his steps, causing Krystal’s softness to inadvertently bump into his arm again.
She lifted her head, just meeting his gaze.
In that instant, their eyes met; there was no uncomfortable desire in Lin Xiuyuan’s eyes, only confusion and curiosity, while gesturing for her to look ahead.
Krystal turned her head, her heartbeat suddenly pausing.
Only because on the side of a building not far away hung an extra-large advertisement poster.
And the artist on that poster was none other than her late member, teammate, and close friend—Sulli.
The young girl on the poster smiled sweetly, her eyes sparkling with star-like glow, her sweet smile seeming to melt away all gloom.
A tender pink dress paired with soft wavy curls, the entire scene warm and bright like spring flowers.
Sheets of rainwater dripped down the edges of the poster, yet it didn’t diminish that pure sweetness at all, instead adding a dreamy atmosphere.
And it was right at this moment that Lin Xiuyuan softly asked, “Want to go see her?”
