Hancheng: The Door Between Me and the Future – Chapter 50

Chapter 50: “right Now, Immediately, At Once”

The next day early in the morning.

In SM Entertainment’s practice room, several members of Girls’ Generation arrived one after another. As the music started, everyone began their daily warm-up training. In the blink of an eye, the room was mostly filled, except for the “eternal second” Jung Soo Yeon, who still hadn’t shown up.

Sunny, who was stretching nearby, suddenly thought of something. She turned to Im Yoon Ah and teased, “Yoona, on your day off the day before yesterday, did you go out to play with Soo Yeon? Where did you go? I’ve noticed Soo Yeon has been acting a bit strange lately.”

Because originally she wanted to ask Im Yoon Ah to come home and build Legos together, but Im Yoon Ah said she had plans with Jung Soo Yeon.

“Strange? She’s just been much happier, right.”

Im Yoon Ah’s little ears twitched slightly. Unconsciously, the scene of Jung Soo Yeon chatting and laughing with Lin Xiuyuan that day emerged in her mind, and the corners of her mouth quietly pursed into a small arc.

And who was Sunny? She was the team’s gossip expert, the number one at catching wind and shadows, the ancestor of the Bagua Sect.

From just that tiny expression on Im Yoon Ah’s face, she immediately sniffed out something unusual and suddenly lit up with excitement. “What’s going on? What’s going on, Yoona? Do you know something? Tell me, tell me.”

As soon as Im Yoon Ah hesitated, the practice room door was suddenly slammed open from outside, crashing heavily against the wall with a “bang,” startling all eight young girls in the room.

Everyone looked astonished toward the doorway, only to see Jung Soo Yeon fuming with rage.

Jung Soo Yeon, who had held in her anger all night, stood at the doorway. Her brows were cold, and that gaze, which hadn’t shown its edge in a long time, swept across the entire room like a sharp blade, finally locking onto Kim Hyo Yeon.

The next second, she strode into the crowd and stopped in front of Kim Hyo Yeon, unleashing her fury.

“Hey, Kim Hyo Yeon, have some shame. If you want to play, go play by yourself. What do you mean by forcing a junior to go with you and throw herself to the wolves? We’re all adults. Isn’t the intention behind calling to urge someone out the door obvious? Do you really not know?”

As Jung Soo Yeon’s words fell, her icy tone instantly made the room’s temperature seem to drop to midnight.

The leader, closest to the door, immediately went to close it, then gave a look to the team’s maknae to come block the door, while she hurried toward Jung Soo Yeon.

Meanwhile, Kim Hyo Yeon, who had been doing a backbend, lost her composure in the face of this torrent of insults.

A moment later, she reacted and couldn’t help but retort loudly, “What? What did I do to offend you? I haven’t called you recently at all. What do you mean ‘urging someone out’? Do you even listen to the nonsense you’re spouting?”

“Did you not understand what I said? I said junior.”

Jung Soo Yeon’s gaze was like a blade, unyielding. “Besides, are you sure you haven’t provoked me? Wasn’t it you who tried to push me toward Kwon Young Il’s acquaintances, openly and covertly? Right, I refused later, so since you didn’t succeed, you targeted Sulli, didn’t you?”

Kim Tae Yeon, approaching from behind, paused at those words. Her expression changed abruptly, and she instinctively looked at Kim Hyo Yeon.

Little Snowball?

She suddenly thought of the little girl who had shared a dormitory with her many years ago.

Jung Soo Yeon’s voice continued, “No, Kim Hyo Yeon, you’ve been out there for so many years. Don’t you know how disgusting that hiphop crowd of scum is? If you want to play, play by yourself. Can you stop acting like a pimp, dragging people everywhere, even introducing Sulli to that group of bastards’ party?”

“Hey, Jung Soo Yeon, that’s too much.”

Perhaps the “pimp” description finally made Kim Hyo Yeon unable to hold back her anger, calling out the person in front of her by name.

But she momentarily forgot that during trainee days, the name Jung Soo Yeon was someone no trainee at SM Entertainment dared to provoke lightly.

So as soon as her words fell, a more powerful shout slammed into her eardrums.

“What are you yelling about, Kim Hyo Yeon? Don’t you know I’m your senior? No manners, huh? Right now, immediately, recall who the senior is. Who do you think you are to talk to me like that? Did I seem too nice usually? Who gave you the guts to call me by name?”

As she spoke, a straight finger was already pointing right in front of Kim Hyo Yeon, the burning anger almost surging out through her fingertip.

Following the fingertip straight ahead were Jung Soo Yeon’s blazing eyes, staring deadly at the figure before her.

Then the fingertip suddenly turned, pointing at Choi Soo Young, who had stepped forward wanting to speak. “Don’t advise me. When I start talking, all of you stay quiet.”

Don’t think Choi Soo Young was usually the team bully, but facing a fully fired-up Jung Soo Yeon, she faltered, tightly pursing her lips again after opening them.

At this point, Kim Hyo Yeon was scolded into a daze. Her mind raced through memories, wondering where exactly she had offended Jung Soo Yeon. The Sulli mentioned didn’t seem like the source, as the two weren’t very familiar.

Finally, she thought it must be Sulli’s teammate, her sister Jung Soo Jung.

Having figured it out, she immediately grasped it like a lifeline and blurted out without thinking, “Wait, I didn’t call Soo Jung. What are you freaking out about? Are you and Sulli even close?”

As soon as those words came out, the air froze, and everyone’s gazes in the room became subtle.

Kim Tae Yeon reacted most obviously. She had thought Jung Soo Yeon was making a fuss over nothing, but now her face darkened.

Jung Soo Yeon laughed angrily instead. “Heh, if you dared to call Soo Jung, if you could still stand here talking, I’d say these twenty-plus years of my life were wasted.”

Her tone was light, even with a hint of laughter, yet it sent chills down everyone’s spines.

“Hyo Yeon, did you really call Sulli over?” At this moment, Kim Tae Yeon asked from behind.

“Heh, more than just calling. Sulli politely refused, but she kept calling one after another, forcing her to go out.” Jung Soo Yeon coldly snatched the answer, her tone sharp as a knife.

Another remark that made Kim Hyo Yeon fully feel the shift in the surrounding gazes.

She quickly tried to salvage, “I didn’t mean it that way. I just thought there was a party, and everyone could have some fun together.”

“You know what those people’s parties are like, don’t you? I’m really starting to suspect if you’ve been smoking something. You know what kind of trash they are, yet you introduce a young girl like Sulli to them. You say you had no ideas, no special intentions?”

Jung Soo Yeon’s voice pierced into Kim Hyo Yeon’s heart like several sharp thorns.

But this time, Jung Soo Yeon’s tone was much calmer, perhaps having vented earlier, or waiting for the next outburst.

Finally, looking at the silent Kim Hyo Yeon, Jung Soo Yeon recalled Krystal’s gaze from last night and took a deep breath.

“I don’t know what you’re thinking, and I don’t want to dig into it. But I can tell you, if you have any ideas, snuff them out quickly. Or go harm someone else, don’t target the naive little girls around you. If you have no ideas, then go read more books. Don’t act like you have no brain and do something so stupid.”

“I didn’t.” Kim Hyo Yeon still wanted to retort.

Jung Soo Yeon let out another frustrated breath and turned to Seo Hyun at the door. “Seo Joo Hyun, did she introduce friends to you?”

Seo Hyun at the door stiffened, not daring to speak amid the crowd, but her silence said everything.

After delivering the fatal blow, Jung Soo Yeon immediately turned and left the practice room.

Leaving behind, “I’m going to find Sulli. Handle it yourselves.”
