Chapter 33: Stone? Insect Eggs!
“Tsk tsk, this little girl doesn’t even blink when she’s fooling people.” Ximi saw Shi An’an tricking Lin Jinmo into buying things in the monitoring room.
He Rui, who was nearby, heard this and immediately walked over.
Hearing the somewhat familiar voice, he turned to look at Lin Xi beside him, “This is that little girl?”
Lin Xi was also watching Shi An’an’s team, personally seeing Shi An’an sharpening her knife toward… her younger brother. He guessed his friend must have told her the price of the essential oil, and now she was asking her… younger brother for the difference.
“Cough, didn’t you guess it?” Lin Xi glanced at He Rui.
He Rui looked at the small bottle in Shi An’an’s hand, his usually slow brain turning quickly at this moment, “So, this is…”
Lin Xi quickly glared at him, and He Rui decisively shut up, while eyeing the essential oil in Shi An’an’s hand covetously.
Ximi didn’t know what the two were talking about, but when she saw Lin Jinmo actually taking out five million to buy a small bottle of essential oil of unknown contents, she instantly became furious.
“This student, is this student an idiot! Can’t he see this girl is scamming him? This is blatant fraud! Deduct points, I’m going to deduct her points!!!”
He Rui and Lin Xi frowned upon hearing Ximi’s words. Lin Xi said coldly, “You don’t know the situation, so how do you know she’s scamming?”
“Yeah, and you didn’t even see who the one paying is. Do you think this girl can shortchange him?” He Rui carefully glanced at Lin Xi, feeling even more that the thing in her hand was extremely valuable.
Soon he would report to the head, have the head buy a few bottles from this girl, so that when the brothers in the legion sometimes couldn’t sleep after missions, using just one drop could not only recover mental power but also physical strength, saving a lot of medical expenses.
An Yi: “Thank you for only now figuring it out. By the time you do, the dish will be cold!”
Reminded by He Rui, Ximi immediately looked at that student, “Lin Jinmo… Lin?”
Ximi had a realization and stiffly turned to Lin Xi, only to see Lin Xi looking at her coldly.
“Lin… Instructor Lin, this is… your child?”
Lin Xi said coldly, “Yeah, this fool is my own younger brother!”
“Ah! This…” Ximi immediately changed her tune, “Then it seems this little girl’s stuff is real. Your brother has a keen eye and is so smart he definitely won’t be fooled!”
The others in the monitoring room covered their mouths and snickered. Buda kindly called Ximi over to observe other teams.
He Rui teased Lin Xi, and Lin Xi said coldly, “If you don’t want eyes, just say so.”
“Cough cough… I didn’t say anything.”
Lin Xi ignored him and continued observing the students’ safety.
The night on H11 Star was eerily quiet.
Most students were spending their first night alone in the wild, so most of them gathered together by coincidence.
Shi An’an and the others sat around the campfire, chatting and joking. Shi An’an occasionally chimed in, but her spiritual sense was fixed on the distance.
From the moment Sheng Rong opened the essential oil, she noticed some movement nearby. When her spiritual sense scanned over, it seemed blocked, and she couldn’t see what it was exactly.
Since the afternoon, she had felt something following them. When she scanned, the movement disappeared.
This kept Shi An’an on high alert.
The first night passed safely. When the sky began to lighten, Shi An’an opened her eyes and glanced at the stone sliding down behind her, then stood up.
As soon as Shi An’an moved, Sheng Rong opened his eyes. Seeing it was her, he relaxed.
“It’s morning, let’s pack up and set off quickly.” After Sheng Rong woke the others, he continued studying the route.
“Okay!” The others quickly packed their things. Shi An’an stood on the outer side, her spiritual sense extending outward.
Not far away, there was still a small cluster of isolated creatures. She still couldn’t see clearly what was inside, and other places… nothing unusual for now.
“Let’s go.” Shi Anxin walked to Shi An’an’s side.
Shi An’an nodded, “Okay.”
The group moved forward quickly. Because of the military training, the instructors specially warned them not to use mecha or other tools, only their legs to reach the base.
If anyone violated this, their military training score would be zero.
“Why are there so many stones here? And why do I feel like many stones have the same shape?” Shi Lele struggled to climb onto a boulder, looked at the stone below, and said puzzledly.
Lin Jinmo didn’t care, “What’s there to study about stones? Besides, H11 Star’s stones might just look like this.”
Sheng Rong and Shi Anxin listened and smiled, not paying attention. Only Shi An’an looked at the surrounding stones and frowned; they were indeed suspicious.
Stones are naturally formed over time; how could they all have the same shape.
Shi An’an touched a stone on the ground and probed her spiritual sense into it.
“Thump… thump…”
“Alive!” Shi An’an was shocked.
“Hm? What’s alive?” Sheng Rong and the others turned to Shi An’an and the stone under her hand.
Shi An’an closed her eyes and continued sending her spiritual sense through the hard outer shell!
She wasn’t mistaken; it was indeed a heartbeat, slow and heavy.
And beneath this hard shell was a cluster of… spiritual energy?!
Shi An’an got excited, suppressed it, and carefully explored what exactly was inside.
Sheng Rong, Shi Anxin, and the other two watched the series of changes on Shi An’an’s face, their hearts up and down.
Finally, in a pool of liquid, Shi An’an saw in the middle… a worm?!!!
“Worm!” Shi An’an opened her eyes, “But it doesn’t look exactly like the worms in my memory.”
Sheng Rong gravely searched for pictures of the Insectoid Race on his optical computer and showed them to Shi An’an, “Is it this kind?”
Shi An’an looked at the various strangely shaped creatures and shook her head, “No.”
“Idiot, you searched adult Insectoid Race. Search for larva stage Insectoid Race!” Lin Jinmo said.
Sheng Rong reacted and immediately searched again, “Look at these…”
Shi An’an glanced, “Somewhat like.”
“Is it this one!” Shi Anxin extended her optical computer over, looking serious.
“Yes!” Shi An’an looked at the picture; it was like the worm in the stone slightly grown.
“Devouring Worm!!!”
Sheng Rong, Lin Jinmo, and Shi Lele said in unison, their faces full of horror.
Shi Lele looked at Shi An’an, “An’an, how did you know there’s a Devouring Worm inside?”
Shi An’an read the introduction to the Devouring Worm while saying, “My mental power might be different from yours.”
Sheng Rong also squatted down and touched… uh, what he previously thought was a stone, but now had an Insectoid Race larva inside; he felt a bit repulsed.
In the end, Sheng Rong didn’t touch it, instead releasing mental power at the stone.
