Chapter 40: The Cost of Making Up
Speaking of which, I don’t know what kind of friends Jin Shi Yue has.
Regardless of the occasion or time, they would kiss passionately and do that sort of thing anytime, anywhere.
Birds of a feather flock together.
Second Young Master Jin is a philanderer, so his friends are naturally just as bad.
To be able to joke and tease her with a straight face in such a situation, Eldest Young Master is truly experienced and has seen countless women.
Thinking this, Lian Li looked at the arrogant nickname ‘1’ and the avatar like a black hole in the universe, and suddenly felt her Moments had been defiled.
Lian Li didn’t accept Jin Shi Yue’s money. Estimating the price of his clothes and the approximate laundry fee, she transferred some money to him.
After transferring the money, out of courtesy, Lian Li slowly edited a message: 「Brother Shi Yue, this is for the laundry. If it’s not enough, please let me know. 」
Jin Shi Yue: 「I have approved your friend request, and now we can start chatting. 」
Is the system malfunctioning? Why did this message pop up again?
As Lian Li was racking her brain, a knock sounded in the silent space.
She grabbed her mobile phone, wrapped herself in a red plaid cashmere shawl, and put on her slippers to open the door.
Jin Shi Yue must have just showered. He was wearing a dark casual loungewear set. His neat short hair was damp with moisture, and his casual relaxation inside and out softened his sharp and edgy demeanor.
Lian Li was stunned.
Jin Shi Yue leaned lazily against the doorframe, his eyelids slightly lowered as he looked at her. He stretched his long legs silently, his feet propping against the bottom of the door—she couldn’t close it even if she wanted to.
“What, disappointed to see it’s me?”
Lian Li thought Jin Shi Yue was probably truly blind. Her face showed no disappointment at all; she didn’t know how he saw it.
“Is the money not enough?” He was looking for her for something, and Lian Li could only think of this.
Jin Shi Yue’s gaze swept over her neck and settled on her fair face. He asked lazily, “Do I look like I’m short on money?”
Then why did you repeatedly ask me for compensation?
Lian Li tilted her head up to look at him: “No.”
Not short on money, but short on conscience.
“Then why are you looking for me?” Lian Li was confused and couldn’t understand his way of doing things at all.
Jin Shi Yue lowered his eyes, his gaze lightly landing on the mobile phone in her hand: “Why aren’t you accepting the money?”
He was referring to that bizarre “deep affection fee.”
Who would dare to accept money from an unknown source? If it were money laundering, wouldn’t she become a scapegoat?
Jin Shi Yue mimicked her earlier question: “Is the money not enough?”
“I don’t hold a grudge against you, nor do I have deep feelings for you,” Lian Li said directly. “There’s no deep affection fee.”
Jin Shi Yue let out a meaningful hum and lowered his casual gaze: “You don’t have deep feelings, yet you’ve been thinking about me for over a decade.”
Lian Li realized her logic for thinking about things was completely different from his, but after carefully pondering his words, she inexplicably felt they made some sense.
She had indeed remembered that incident for over ten years.
But why did every normal sentence he said sound so suggestive?
Jin Shi Yue’s dark, deep eyes looked directly at Lian Li. He lifted the corner of his lips, seemingly with a hint of helplessness, and said, “Junior Sister’s mind is precious. I’ve lived in it for over a decade, shouldn’t I pay rent?”
What kind of nonsense is this?
Lian Li was completely bewildered.
But refusing was the right thing to do: “No need. If there’s nothing else, it’s very late. You should go back and rest.”
Jin Shi Yue applied a little more pressure with his foot against the door. Lian Li, caught off guard, was pushed back as the door opened wider. She looked at him in surprise.
“Lian Li.”
It was the first time Jin Shi Yue had called her name. His voice was deep and pleasant. Lian Li’s heart suddenly fluttered, whether from shock or something else.
Jin Shi Yue was a head taller than her. He rested his elbow on the doorframe and leaned down, looking into her eyes at close range: “If I make you angry, you don’t even give me a chance to appease you. Junior Sister, you are truly heartless.”
His tone was as if he were accusing her of being a heartbreaker who had deceived his feelings.
Lian Li knew it was her one-sided resistance, but so what? Didn’t she even have the right to resist someone?
Although, upon careful reflection, Jin Shi Yue didn’t deserve such treatment.
Lian Li’s eyes rippled, like diamonds, sparkling: “I’m not angry with you.”
“Then accept the money,” Jin Shi Yue said. “If you accept it, I’ll believe you.”
Who wants you to believe me.
A money-grubber refusing money is a very serious matter.
Jin Shi Yue took a step forward, his shoe tip touching hers. He looked down at her: “If you don’t accept it, are you planning to let me live in your head for another decade?”
Jin Shi Yue stood up straight, crossed his arms, and leaned against the doorframe, saying casually, “You say you don’t have deep feelings for me, but they’ve already reached the ends of the earth.”
Lian Li pondered for a moment, her bright eyes looking at him: “If you regret it and want the money back, I won’t have that much money for you.”
Jin Shi Yue seemed to hear a joke, and the corner of his lips curled into a mocking arc: “Are you cursing me into bankruptcy, or are you doubting my character?”
…Both.
Lian Li blinked her long, curled eyelashes and remained silent.
Jin Shi Yue’s thin lips parted, with an undeniable pressure: “Speak.”
Lian Li didn’t hesitate: “You transfer it again, with the note ‘voluntary gift,’ and then I’ll accept it.”
Jin Shi Yue raised an eyebrow at this.
Lian Li thought the noble and arrogant Second Young Master Jin wouldn’t agree and planned to close the door and go back to sleep.
Unexpectedly, Jin Shi Yue’s foot blocked her door, preventing her from closing it. He held his mobile phone in one hand and quickly tapped on it with his slender, bony fingers.
The next second, a new message popped up on Lian Li’s mobile phone. She tapped it to check.
It was another huge transfer.
The note, however, was different: Voluntary Gift, Reconciliation Fee.
Lian Li: “…”
What the heck is a reconciliation fee?
When had they ever been together?
As Lian Li fell into silence, Jin Shi Yue reached out his large hand and snatched her mobile phone.
Lian Li stood on tiptoe, reaching out to grab it back, but he was too tall for her to reach.
Jin Shi Yue’s fingertip glided across the screen, and then he tossed the phone back to Lian Li, his expression lazy: “Not everyone can have deep feelings for me so easily. Just accept the money.”
After saying that, he turned around and left with leisurely strides.
Lian Li looked down at her mobile phone. Jin Shi Yue had taken back all the money he had transferred to her, not a single cent left.
She had suddenly become a rich woman.
Lian Li, whose emotions had been fluctuating all day, lay in bed, counting the digits of her balance, still finding it unbelievable and suspecting she was dreaming.
Eldest Young Master is truly rich and powerful.
In one night, Jin Shi Yue transformed from a jinx who ruined Lian Li’s fortune into a God of Wealth.
…The God of Wealth is a dog, a large Tibetan Mastiff.
Never mind. Sleep!
Lian Li slept uneasily that night.
She thought Jin Shi Yue would surely slap himself the next day and come to demand the money back.
Early in the morning, when Lian Li woke up, everyone else was still asleep.
There were no maids to make breakfast at the villa, so Lian Li ordered breakfast delivery. They could eat it directly when they woke up.
She prepared the money she needed to return, waiting for Jin Shi Yue.
However, until they left, Lian Li never saw him, and the money remained in her hands.
