Chapter 73: Kiss
Kissing is required to detoxify. Is he poisoned with an aphrodisiac?
“Don’t talk nonsense,” Lian Li supported him, her voice a little breathless from lack of strength. “No doctor would prescribe such a remedy.”
Jin Shi Yue casually lifted his eyelids, his dark eyes glancing at her. “What nonsense? I detoxified myself that way yesterday.”
“If you don’t believe me, try kissing me,” he said lazily, leisurely and condescendingly. “See if it works.”
Lian Li turned her head to look at him, her eyes, as clear as glass, reflecting the man’s impeccable face. She was momentarily stunned and didn’t notice the path beneath her feet. Her left foot caught on the carpet, and she lost her balance, about to fall.
Jin Shi Yue’s long arm hooked around Lian Li’s waist, pulling her directly into his embrace. He clicked his tongue:
“Why do you always fall, like a sapling? I should just take you home and raise you.”
In the blink of an eye, their positions reversed. Lian Li had only suspected Jin Shi Yue was faking his poisoning, but now she was certain.
She pulled away and looked up at him, revealing the truth: “You’re not poisoned at all.”
Lian Li’s face was calm, and the soft light falling on her made her skin appear as flawless as white jade. Her thick, long black eyelashes blinked, like delicate little fans.
“A miracle drug, and you’ve healed me again,” Jin Shi Yue’s lips curved slightly, his expression utterly composed.
Lian Li: “…”
“Since you’re fine, I’m leaving.”
Lian Li feared she might bite him if she stayed any longer. As she turned to leave, Jin Shi Yue grabbed her wrist.
Lian Li turned back. “What do you want?”
He repeated his four words: “Take responsibility for me.”
“I’ll consider it,” Lian Li stalled for time, planning to escape first.
“Considering for so long, are you planning to find another bed warmer?” Jin Shi Yue lowered his gaze and looked at her askance. “Am I not enough? Are you planning to find another one, one man for your left atrium and one for your right?”
What is he talking about?
It sounds like she’s two-timing.
Lian Li’s eyes darted around. She steadied her gaze, adding a layer of caution in her heart, and looked him directly in the eye. “I’ve already moved out of Jin Yan Ting’s apartment. It won’t affect his marriage with the Duan family. You don’t need to sacrifice yourself, and don’t tease me anymore.”
Jin Shi Yue: “Which eye of yours saw me sacrificing myself?”
What else? That he, the Eldest Young Master, had descended to save all living beings and was enjoying it?
“Ultimately, who is sacrificing themselves, me or you?” Jin Shi Yue released her hand, his sharp eyes fixed on her.
Lian Li felt flustered under his gaze. From the beginning, she felt they had no connection, but as things developed, they had deviated from her expectations, and their relationship seemed to have become complicated.
Lian Li only wanted to stay in the Capital City to find her Mother and didn’t want to get involved in the conflicts of wealthy families, only to be sent away from the Capital City or abroad.
Anyone from the Jin family, no matter who it was, if they ever told her to never appear in the Capital City again.
She would have no way to resist.
She knew better than anyone how great the power of influence was.
Lian Li had stayed by Jin Yan Ting’s side for nine years and could accept any setback.
But Jin Shi Yue, why should she pay for his momentary whim?
Jin Shi Yue grew up nurtured by power and influence; it didn’t matter how he played or how crazy he was. There were always people to cover for him.
Lian Li didn’t have that. She had to bear the consequences of every choice she made.
She was walking on a single track, solely to find her Mother and give Lian Jingcheng an explanation.
She didn’t want to take detours.
To avoid being led astray by Jin Shi Yue’s words, Lian Li pursed her lips and chose not to answer.
“I’m asking you a question.” Jin Shi Yue stepped closer. For every step he took forward, Lian Li took one step back.
The man pressed forward relentlessly, and Lian Li kept retreating. She was almost at the door when she turned to open it and escape, but Jin Shi Yue was faster. He shut the door firmly and locked it from the inside.
The faint sound of the lock echoed. Lian Li’s back was pressed against the door, and she looked up at Jin Shi Yue. Their eyes met, and her heart trembled.
In the confined room, the man’s intensely aggressive aura washed over her, and Lian Li instinctively tried to dodge.
However, before she could escape, Jin Shi Yue grabbed her waist and lifted her off the ground. Lian Li cried out, “What are you doing?”
Jin Shi Yue carried her to a nearby table, propped his hands on the edge of the table beside her, and leaned his handsome face close. Lian Li reflexively leaned back, her hands pressing on the tabletop as she tried to move away.
Behind her was an antique blue and white ceramic vase. She accidentally knocked it over. It teetered for three seconds. Jin Shi Yue didn’t try to catch it, letting it fall straight down. With a loud crash, it shattered on the floor.
Lian Li was startled by the loud noise. Her leaning body paused for a moment. Just as she was about to fall, Jin Shi Yue’s large hand reached out and pulled her back.
Lian Li tilted her head back, her gaze colliding with his cold, dark ink-colored eyes. Her heart pounded violently, as if it were about to leap out of her chest and land in front of him.
Jin Shi Yue trapped her in a small space, his dark eyes fixed on her. “Mute again? Your golden mouth only speaks when it’s worth gold. Say one word to me and a piece of gold falls out.”
The table was hard and cold. Lian Li’s palms pressed against it, the chill seeping into her skin. Her nerves felt frozen.
Jin Shi Yue gazed at her, a roguish curve at the corner of his lips. “Your mouth isn’t just for show. Since you don’t like talking, let’s do something else.”
His hot breath landed on her cheek, making the back of Lian Li’s neck tingle.
Looking at the man so close, her throat felt inexplicably dry, like a butterfly caught in a spiderweb, unable to break free.
Jin Shi Yue’s long fingers lifted Lian Li’s chin, looking directly into the depths of her eyes.
“The use of a mouth,” he said carelessly, looking at her beautiful almond-shaped eyes, “is for kissing.”
Lian Li’s heart leaped in surprise. She quickly turned her head, and his lips landed on her soft earlobe. The scorching heat sent a shiver through her.
Jin Shi Yue’s nose brushed against hers, his breath also hot.
“We’ve kissed before, why are you dodging?”
“Get off me.” Lian Li pushed his chest with both hands, but even with all her strength, he didn’t budge.
Jin Shi Yue looked at her intently for a moment, then suddenly called her name: “Lian Li.”
When he called her name, there was always a strange tone that made her ears tingle.
Lian Li looked at him, puzzled.
Jin Shi Yue said, “Give me your mobile phone.”
Lian Li didn’t understand.
Before she could offer it, Jin Shi Yue forcefully snatched her mobile phone, turned on the screen. It was locked. He aligned it with her face, unlocked it with facial recognition, and then opened WeChat.
Lian Li couldn’t guess what he was doing and stretched her neck to investigate.
Jin Shi Yue, taking advantage of his superior height, held the mobile phone above her head. Lian Li could only see his sharp, full Adam’s apple and the fresh scratches on his neck.
After a few operations with his cold, white, slender fingers, Jin Shi Yue threw the mobile phone back to her.
Lian Li looked down at her mobile phone and found that after they separated in the corridor, he had transferred money to her. Now he had taken it all back.
“Little money grubber,” Jin Shi Yue leaned on the table, his dark eyes looking at her with a casual air. “Happy now?”
