Chapter 78: Afraid I’ll kiss you?
The way she said it was as if the whole city was looking for her.
Lian Li glanced at the unmelted snowflakes on his shoulder and said with a straight face, “Then you must be really free, with nothing else to do.”
“What else could be more important than eating noodles with you?” Jin Shi Yue pulled out the chair to her left and sat down leisurely.
…Most important is extorting money from her.
Lian Li poked the beef noodles in her bowl with her chopsticks. After they had been completely exposed and done the most intimate thing, she really didn’t want to see him.
Uncle Yang looked at Lian Li, then at Jin Shi Yue, and then back at Lian Li. He was certain that this young couple was having a spat.
“What kind of noodles are you having today? I’ll make them for you.”
“The same as hers,” Jin Shi Yue glanced at the half-bowl of noodles left in Lian Li’s bowl and said calmly.
“Coming right up!”
The moment Jin Shi Yue sat down, Lian Li consciously moved her legs apart to avoid touching him. However, he hooked his foot and forcefully pulled her legs back.
“What are you doing?” Lian Li’s legs were held by him, unable to move, like she was shackled.
“Eating noodles,” Jin Shi Yue said leisurely.
“I’m asking why you’re locking my legs?” Lian Li struggled with her feet, but he didn’t budge.
“To stop you from eating alone,” Jin Shi Yue said.
What was that? She wasn’t running away from a food thief.
“Let go, and I’ll treat you to noodles,” Lian Li negotiated with him in a good temper.
“Too late,” Jin Shi Yue said. “Even dogs don’t eat noodles that are late.”
What a Young Master. He even had to be punctual to be treated to noodles?
If the auspicious time passed, his entire clan would be executed.
Others walk with their tails between their legs, but he eats with his legs clasped together.
And he was clasping her legs.
After struggling in vain, Lian Li chose to ignore the strangeness under the table and focused on eating her noodles with her eyes down.
Uncle Yang soon brought over a bowl of beef noodles. The chopped scallions and cilantro were placed on a separate dish. Jin Shi Yue, as usual, pushed the dish aside.
Uncle Yang sat at the cashier, observing the situation. The two young people ate without speaking, slowly and elegantly. Just sitting together was a beautiful and fitting sight.
His gaze moved down, and Uncle Yang’s face broke into a gratified smile.
Young people’s feelings are so good; they can’t bear to be separated even while eating noodles. It was the same when he was dating his wife; he wished he could stick to her all the time.
Time, it’s all time.
Lian Li ate noodles and snacks intermittently, eating rather slowly. Although she arrived earlier than Jin Shi Yue, he still finished before her.
Lian Li glanced at his bowl and saw only broth and a few noodles… not as extravagant as last time.
His fingers never touched ordinary water, he ate delicacies every day, a picky and pampered Young Master, and he actually finished it all.
It seemed he really wanted noodles.
Jin Shi Yue leaned back against the chair lazily and asked in a casual tone, “Have you thought about it?”
Thought about what? It was self-evident.
The great dilemma of responsibility.
His nose was high and straight, his dark eyes sharp as blades, and his relaxed posture allowed her only one answer.
Lian Li’s bright apricot eyes met Jin Shi Yue’s gaze for a moment without blinking, and she said, “I’m busy lately and don’t have time to think. Let’s wait a while longer.”
“A while longer, when is that?” Jin Shi Yue stared at her. Even though he knew she was stalling, he also understood that he couldn’t push her too hard.
Lian Li pondered, “Within a month?”
Jin Shi Yue: “Three days.”
30 days directly reduced to 3 days, that’s a huge discount.
“…Half a month,” Lian Li shortened it by half.
“Tomorrow,” Jin Shi Yue said flatly, but with an unyielding tone.
“Ten days.”
Before he could refuse, Lian Li added, “I spent over a month choosing my graduation project topic. If the time is less than ten days, I’m afraid I won’t be able to give you a satisfactory answer.”
If he couldn’t accept it, he could leave and they would become strangers from then on.
Jin Shi Yue’s eyebrows lifted slightly, his gaze meaningful, “Are you threatening me?”
“I wouldn’t dare,” Lian Li lied with a straight face. “I’m timid. I’ve been afraid to step on ants since I was little.”
“I think you’re quite bold,” Jin Shi Yue maintained his casual demeanor.
“You misunderstand me.”
Lian Li’s eyes were calm, but not vacant. The pupils reflected diamond-like starlight, and her gaze was like a soft sword, gentle yet sharp.
Jin Shi Yue asked with gentlemanly politeness, “You ate me dry and then pretended to be strangers afterwards, wasn’t that you?”
…Alright, it was her.
“When did I ever pretend to be a stranger to you?” Lian Li argued with reason. “I’ve replied to all your messages.”
Jin Shi Yue smirked, his voice devoid of warmth, “Should I thank you for not treating me as a casual fling, but as an online acquaintance?”
When it came to hooking up, both parties were supposed to be on equal footing, and neither was in the wrong.
But he asked her to take responsibility, and she didn’t want to, which meant she was in the wrong.
Lian Li’s mind raced. She said, “I haven’t touched a cent of the money you transferred to me. Since it’s reconciliation money, I’ll return it to you as is, and we can continue to be enemies who never see each other again.”
They weren’t enemies; she didn’t hate him at all. Never seeing each other again, however, was possible.
Jin Shi Yue’s handsome face was expressionless, his narrow, cold eyes staring at her.
Lian Li felt the sharp coldness emanating from him, the pressure was immense. If she were a few years younger, she might have been flustered and her eyes might have turned red.
Jin Shi Yue: “Are you tired of trying to distance yourself from me all day?”
His tone held no hint of care, so Lian Li naturally wasn’t foolish enough to think he was genuinely asking if she was tired.
But she had to answer the Young Master’s words: “No, I’m not tired.”
Jin Shi Yue let out a meaningful chuckle, his dark eyes probing her expression, “That night, you were so passionate, did you mistake me for Jin Yan Ting?”
Why was Jin Yan Ting being brought up again?
Lian Li frowned, “Don’t involve other people in our matters.”
“Fine,” Jin Shi Yue stood up directly. His shadow fell over Lian Li. He raised his wrist to look at his wristwatch. “It’s 8:16 PM now. Ten days. If you exceed it by even a second, you’ll be locked up by me.”
…Why was he threatening her?
Lian Li’s legs were a bit numb from being hooked. She sat on the chair and rested for a while before they returned to normal.
She walked to the cashier. “Uncle Yang, the bill.”
Uncle Yang smiled and said, “Your boyfriend already paid.”
Knowing that the Young Master wasn’t stingy, but just liked to play games, Lian Li was still a little surprised. She walked out of the shop and looked around, but couldn’t see Jin Shi Yue.
He must have left.
Lian Li put on her scarf and was walking through the alley to the road when a Koenigsegg stopped arrogantly in front of her.
The car window wasn’t lowered, but it was obvious who was in the driver’s seat.
Lian Li ignored it. She walked a little further, and the car moved a little further. It was delaying her from getting a taxi, so she finally stopped and raised her hand to knock on the car window.
The car window still didn’t lower, but her mobile phone rang instead.
Lian Li answered the phone. Before she could speak, she heard Jin Shi Yue lazily say two words: “Get in.”
Then, he hung up.
He didn’t give her a chance to refuse.
Lian Li hesitated for a few seconds, then opened the car door and got into the front passenger seat. She planned to get out after talking to him.
To prevent him from locking the car door, she deliberately left a gap and didn’t close it completely.
Jin Shi Yue rested one hand on the steering wheel, his gaze sliding over the gap in the car door before slowly landing on Lian Li’s face.
He turned his body and reached out without warning. Lian Li’s alarm bells went off, and she instinctively dodged, her back of her head hitting the seat.
With a “bang,” the car door closed firmly.
Jin Shi Yue lowered his eyebrows, his warm breath mixed with a slight coolness brushing against her face.
“Didn’t close the car door, afraid I’d kiss you?”
