Chapter 6: Exorcism In Gao Lao Village
After the system rewards were distributed, the spells reward Art of Moving Mountains directly appeared in Ao Tu’s mind, fully comprehended.
Ao Tu pinched his fingers and chanted an incantation, and a small mountain was lifted by his spell. However, this spell could only move small mountains and rivers; famous large mountains like Mount Tai or Mount Hua could not be moved.
Even so, it was quite good, a very practical spell.
As for the Six-Revolving Golden Elixir and True Dragon Pearl rewards, they were directly delivered into Ao Tu’s hands.
The Six-Revolving Golden Elixir was golden and brilliant, with full elixir glow and thousands of strands of auspicious qi.
If a mortal consumed it, they would become an immortal on the spot, achieving immortality. Ao Tu had Mysterious Immortal cultivation, so the effect was not as obvious as for mortals, but after consuming it, his cultivation would greatly advance, saving countless years of hard work. It was truly a rare elixir.
Without hesitation, Ao Tu swallowed the Six-Revolving Golden Elixir in one gulp and refined it in his abdomen. His cultivation surged upward, directly breaking through from early Mysterious Immortal to mid Mysterious Immortal. The medicinal power was not fully refined yet; if completely refined, it would likely help him break through to late Mysterious Immortal.
Ao Tu then looked at the True Dragon Pearl.
This was a bright golden Dragon Pearl. From its aura, it was left behind by a Golden Immortal-level True Dragon. Laws flowed within the Dragon Pearl, containing the prototype of a small world and endless magic power.
The more Ao Tu looked at it, the more he liked it. With this Golden Immortal-level Dragon Pearl, consuming it could help him break through to Golden Immortal realm early; without consuming it, it could be used as a magic treasure. When facing enemies, throwing out the Dragon Pearl was equivalent to a Golden Immortal-level attack. The benefits were immense.
Ao Tu swallowed the Dragon Pearl and stored it in his abdomen, then flew toward Gao Lao Village.
He needed to prepare for the next layout.
Regarding how to obstruct Tang Sanzang and his disciples at Gao Lao Village, Ao Tu had already devised a plan. Including the extra twelve days of progress from Guanyin Monastery before, he was confident this time of achieving thirty days of progress and obtaining the reward for obstruction of one month.
However, while Ao Tu was flying toward Gao Lao Village, more than a dozen figures suddenly appeared ahead.
Those dozen figures were all extremely ugly, with red skin, flames sprouting from their heads, two zhang tall, double wings on their backs; one eye on the crown of the head, one on the chin; one nostril facing up, one facing down; one ear in front, one in back, human bodies with beast heads—ox heads and horse faces—all flying in the air, holding steel forks. They were precisely the top combat force of Buddhism’s eight divisions, the Yaksas.
“Ao Tu, for missing the bell-ringing time and privately escaping to the mortal realm, we are here under Venerable Ananda’s order to capture you!”
As those Yaksas spoke, they charged toward Ao Tu.
Seeing this, Ao Tu wondered what game Ananda was playing. Clearly, it was Ananda who sent him to the mortal realm to obstruct Tang Sanzang’s Journey for Sutras, so why send Yaksas to capture him now?
However, these Yaksas had low cultivation; only the leader was a Heavenly Immortal, the rest were Earth Immortals, and two had just transformed. To him, they could be wiped out with a flip of his hand.
Ao Tu transformed into his true form, becoming a four-clawed yellow dragon. He opened his giant mouth and sprayed out a field of golden radiant light, filling the sky with sharp qi. When it struck those Yaksas, blood immediately sprayed in the air, their corpses shattering into pieces and falling from the sky.
Ao Tu’s body contained Golden Dragon bloodline, but since the bloodline was impure, he manifested as a yellow dragon. He was innately born with a breath of Sharp Metal Qi; one breath could kill all things with killing force. When it struck a person, both form and spirit would be extinguished, with no complete corpse left.
After the radiant light passed, among those dozen Yaksas, only the leading Heavenly Immortal-level Yaksa was still alive. Covered in blood and with weak aura, he fled backward in panic, shouting:
“Demon Dragon, for your rampage like this, the Buddha Ancestor will not spare you!”
Ao Tu paid it no mind. He had once wholeheartedly rung the bell and worshiped Buddha, yet the Buddha Ancestor did not spare him either?
Just as he was about to chase and kill it, a beam of glazed light suddenly fell from the sky, shining on the fleeing Yaksa and fixing it in place.
Ao Tu immediately felt this scene was very familiar. Previously, when he was ringing the bell, he was fixed like this, causing him to miss the bell-ringing time.
Sure enough, Ananda’s figure then manifested in the air, surrounded by Buddha’s Light, feet on a Golden Lotus, holding a Glass Alms Bowl in hand. That glazed light was emitted from the bowl.
Seeing this, Ao Tu quietly held the Dragon Pearl in his mouth and vigilantly watched Ananda.
Ananda said: “What are you waiting for? Why not act?”
Ao Tu said: “What do you mean?”
Ananda said: “You foolish little dragon. This Venerable is descending under Buddha’s Decree to subjugate you. If there aren’t many casualties in the process, how can it show this Venerable’s meritorious service? This Venerable does not wish to bear this karma of killing. Hurry and act, do not delay further.”
Hearing this, Ao Tu inwardly shook his head for the Yaksa clan. He added another beam of radiant light, killing the fixed Yaksa.
Only then did Ananda retrieve the treasure and look at Ao Tu, praising:
“Very good, very good. This Venerable heard you schemed to frame them, adding imprisonment hardship to that Pilgrim. Well done!”
Ananda took out a Golden Flower from his bosom and said: “Let this be your reward. Since you have the ability, add more hardships, the more the better.”
The Golden Flower was a relatively common treasure in Buddhism. Consuming it could slightly increase cultivation, with better effects than ordinary pills.
But Ao Tu was puzzled in his heart.
During the Great Tribulation, heavenly secrets were obscured; even saints could not see the full picture. How did Ananda know so quickly that it was his doing?
While puzzled, Ananda himself revealed the reason.
Ananda said: “You did well this time, but not thorough enough. Those Guangzhi and Guangmou went to the Underworld to complain and sue me, causing much trouble. Next time, directly devour their souls to avoid issues. Otherwise, if exposed, I won’t protect you!”
Hearing this, Ao Tu realized where the problem lay.
It turned out Guangzhi and Guangmou’s souls had sued Ananda in the Underworld.
These two were truly fearless in ignorance.
Ao Tu said: “May I ask, Venerable, how were those two Guangzhi and Guangmou resolved?”
Ananda said: “No need to worry. To compensate them, this Venerable brought their two souls out of the underworld and cast them into Spirit Mountain’s eight divisions transformation pool, turning them into two guardian Yaksas. From then on, they enjoy eternal bliss at Spirit Mountain, naturally grateful and voluntarily withdrew the complaint.”
Upon hearing “Yaksa,” Ao Tu immediately had a bad premonition.
Sure enough, Ananda continued:
“Unfortunately, their strength was insufficient and fortune shallow. Just now, they were unfortunately scattered body and soul by your golden light. Truly a pity.”
Hearing this, Ao Tu felt a chill down his spine, raising his view of Buddhism’s ruthlessness to another level.
After Ananda left, Ao Tu quickly headed to the Gao Lao Village area.
After this incident, his desire for strength grew even more urgent. If his strength was insufficient, what difference was there between him and those Yaksas?
