Chapter 71: I’ll Call You Gou Dan!
The man she saw in the “dream” suddenly appeared before her eyes. Even though Nan Yuanman was so courageous, she was still scared into exploding with fur standing on end.
Her short and stout little body flipped down from the bamboo lounge chair with a whoosh, then hid behind the lounge chair with a swish. Her little meaty hands gripped the back of the chair as she vigilantly watched him.
Nan Yuanman: Staring (_)-
The man realized that Nan Yuanman could really see him. His eyes lit up, and he felt a joy in his heart. Subconsciously, he drifted an inch toward her.
Nan Yuanman’s body shrank even more behind the back of the chair, her hand reaching into the small shoulder bag.
Seeing her extreme reaction, the man’s drifting motion toward her paused. He dejectedly retreated, raised his hands in a surrendering gesture to indicate he was harmless: “Don’t be afraid, I’m not a bad person.”
Yao Xianglu, who could see nothing, saw Nan Yuanman’s actions and noticed her staring intently at her side. Her body hair instantly stood on end, and her body stiffened in place, not daring to move.
She trembled slightly, her eyeballs slowly drifting to the side, her voice trembling: “L-Little Master, is there… is there something next to me?”
She actually wanted to ask if there was a ghost next to her.
But she was afraid that once she asked, the “ghost” standing next to her would pounce and bite her.
Seeing the girl at his side trembling in fear, her face pale as if she was about to faint, the man pursed his lips and silently drifted farther to the side.
Nan Yuanman watched his movements and realized that this strange “ghost” had no hostility or threat. Only then did her tense little body slowly relax. She hurriedly comforted Yao Xianglu: “It’s okay, it’s okay. He has no hostility.”
Yao Xianglu’s legs went soft, and she nearly knelt to Nan Yuanman. The expression she directed at her was exceptionally terrified.
That meant there really was a ghost next to her aaaaa!!
Yao Xianglu forcibly held back from looking to her side, but sometimes people’s curiosity isn’t that easy to suppress. Her peripheral vision glanced over, and just like that, with her luck being so low recently, she really vaguely saw a faint illusory shadow.
Yao Xianglu: “!!!”
Her eyes rolled back, and she directly fainted from fright, her head hitting the ground with a thud.
Nan Yuanman and the floating man were both startled. She hurriedly ran out from behind the chair, wanting to help Yao Xianglu up from the ground.
The man instinctively reached out to help, but his hand passed directly through Yao Xianglu’s neck.
The man’s pupils contracted sharply, and he stared blankly at his hand, his face bewildered.
Was he… dead?
Nan Yuanman was too small and too short, so for the moment, she couldn’t lift Yao Xianglu from the ground. She could only let her lie flat on the ground and pinch her philtrum: “Sister! Don’t die, sister!”
After pinching for half a minute, Yao Xianglu finally hazily opened her eyes.
Afraid the man would scare her again, Nan Yuanman took out Xiao Hong, opened the coffin lid, and temporarily put him into the small coffin.
Her meaty, warm little hand gently patted Yao Xianglu’s head: “Hulu hulu mao, not scary, mosuo mosuo belly, open little shop, good baby not afraid anymore.”
Yao Xianglu slowly came to her senses and recalled that she had just fainted from fright. Her old face reddened, and she awkwardly spoke: “…Sorry, my courage is too small. Did I scare you?”
“It’s okay, it’s okay.” Nan Yuanman patted her head again, fanning the flame on her head a bit brighter: “I’ve put him away. Don’t be afraid.”
Yao Xianglu breathed a sigh of relief: “Okay.”
She didn’t dare ask Nan Yuanman where she had put that “ghost.” She sat on the ground to recover for a while, then got up to cook, asking Nan Yuanman if she had any food restrictions.
Nan Yuanman patted her little belly: “Perfection doesn’t picky eat, eats everything.”
Back in Batang Village, when Grandpa had just fallen ill, she didn’t dare leave home too far and always stayed by Grandpa’s side. At her hungriest, she had even eaten mud.
It just wasn’t very tasty, and pooping was quite difficult too.
The child had just slept for a while, her originally neatly combed hair now scattered. As she nodded, it swayed continuously, looking fluffy and especially cute. Yao Xianglu couldn’t resist ruffling her head and happily went to cook.
After experiencing the ghost sighting earlier, Yao Xianglu was still a bit scared. She turned on all the lights in the house, left the kitchen door wide open, and occasionally looked up at the short and stout little figure in the yard, gradually feeling at ease.
While she was cooking, Nan Yuanman turned her back to her and released the man from the small coffin again.
The man, who had been vigilantly watching that Purple Zombie in the small coffin, saw his surroundings change again with a blur before his eyes. The gaze he directed at Nan Yuanman was exceptionally complex.
He wasn’t stupid. He realized that this child had real skills.
Nan Yuanman withdrew the vigilance from her eyes. Her clear black-and-white eyes curiously sized him up, and the man silently let her look.
Moments later, Nan Yuanman asked: “What’s your name? Where’s your home?”
The man subconsciously opened his mouth: “My name is…”
“My name is…” The expression on his face gradually became bewildered. He raised his hand and knocked on his empty head, murmuring: “I… I don’t remember.”
Nan Yuanman’s little mouth opened into an O shape in shock: “You don’t even remember your own name? Then do you remember how you ended up here?”
The man shook his head: “I don’t remember.”
Nan Yuanman stared wide-eyed at him. The tiny person realized that she seemed to have brought back a troublemaker.
Nan Yuanman paused for a few seconds. While Yao Xianglu turned to wash vegetables, she pulled Old Master Nan out of the small coffin and swiftly hid him behind the bamboo lounge chair.
Before Old Master Nan could react, he saw his little granddaughter point with her little meaty hand: “Grandpa, help Perfection check when this uncle died.”
Old Master Nan’s wooden brain stalled for a few seconds before slowly following her hand to look. His purple eyes stared straight at the man.
The man felt as if he had been targeted by some large ferocious beast. His brain cortex exploded, his whole body tensed, and his muscles kept screaming to run away.
He glanced at the tiny bundle squeezed next to Old Master Nan—Nan Yuanman—and forcibly suppressed his desire to flee.
Old Master Nan looked at him for a good while before disgustedly withdrawing his gaze. When he lowered his eyes to Nan Yuanman, his gaze was exceptionally gentle and kindly.
His mouth opened and closed as he struggled to speak: “Baby don’t… be… afraid. He… he’s… alive… not… not dead.”
Alive? Not dead? Living soul?
Nan Yuanman looked in surprise at the bewildered-faced man. It wasn’t surprising she hadn’t seen it—those black-red threads still lingered on his soul body, shuttling through it like parasites from time to time, as if seeking a chance to take him back.
And half his face was covered by those black-red threads, making him look like a ghost that had been killed long ago and trapped by a formation.
Who knew…
This man wasn’t dead at all—he was a living soul!
Thinking of living soul, Feng Yuli’s father flashed through Nan Yuanman’s mind. The ahoge on her head stood up, and she carefully scrutinized the man’s face.
The man looked at Nan Yuanman in confusion and touched his face: “What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?”
“No.” Nan Yuanman shook her head and gave up. There were too many threads on his face; she couldn’t tell if this man resembled Big brother Feng Yuli’s father.
She shook her head somewhat annoyed: “You don’t remember anything now—not your name, not where your home is. I can’t help you.”
“It’s fine, this is pretty good. I feel very relaxed.” The little brat’s annoyed little expression softened the man’s heart, and his cold hard voice gentled a bit.
“Then how about this: I’ll give you a name. You follow me for now. When you meet someone familiar and remember, I’ll help you return to your body, okay?” Nan Yuanman clapped her hands together and asked.
The man good-naturedly nodded: “Okay.”
Nan Yuanman’s eyes lit up: “Then from now on, you’ll be called Gou Dan!”
She finally had a big ghost coffin maker too!
Man: “……This isn’t good.”
