Chapter 27: Summary
Volume One story, Blessing, full length over sixty-five thousand words.
According to my plan, one unit story is one volume, with varying lengths.
Actually, the content of this volume was originally supposed to be about ten thousand words longer. It was meant to insert a side story line, which could make the main perspective character of this unit “Yu Lianyun” more multifaceted, and also add some performance to the Eastern Mysticism of “Blessing.” However, that side story line crossed the line, so the plot was revised in time. After thinking it over, the side story was still deleted.
At the end of the volume summary, I won’t chat with everyone about the story content; I will only tell everyone some Easter eggs.
As stated in the introduction, the theme of this book will mainly narrate the collision between Eastern Mysticism and Lovecraftian Power.
As everyone knows, Eastern Mysticism is mystical, while Lovecraftian belongs to the sci-fi level, so basically every volume story will feature at least one Eastern Mysticism power, and one Lovecraftian power unit.
The Eastern Mysticism power featured in this volume is a curse named “Blessing.” The power carrier is a video tape, and the image prototype is naturally Sadako sister, though the two are not the same kind, with different origins.
As for the Lovecraftian power featured in this volume, there are mainly three. First is definitely the red wedding dress female corpse. The story inspiration comes from a certain folk custom in our Chinese horror, and the movie《 Nameless female corpse》; then there is the three-handed ice giant, a dimensional life race that exists in another dimension and has extremely strong invasiveness toward the reality dimension, with the characteristic of the extremely thick arm on its back; the other is the abnormal god worshiped by the three-handed ice giant, another high-dimensional life, whose incarnation displayed on Earth is a Lycoris radiata composed of countless flesh and blood vines.
In addition, there are a few small Easter eggs. The two customers currently featured in Boss Lin’s shop are one the protagonist of this unit story Yu Lianyun, and the other is Haimofen.
The story that happened to Haimofen can only be conveyed through scattered remarks. I believe those familiar with Lovecraft’s stories should be able to guess which famous Cthulhu story I am paying homage to, and the two items he successively rented from Boss Lin—I think as long as everyone has dabbled a bit in horror theme movies, they can guess what their prototypes are.
Finally, the summary of this volume story’s matchup:
Eastern Mysticism VS Lovecraftian Power.
Eastern Mysticism small victory, tentatively record 1 point.
Humans… just lie flat and that’s it.
