Lovecraftian World, But I Spread Curses – Chapter 50

Volume-end Summary

Chapter 50: Volume-end Summary

This volume’s story takes searching for the orphan as the main thread, leading to a series of stories involving abnormal gods and chaos.

To be honest, I personally feel that my portrayal of the abnormal god Kuthuen and the dimensional race Huo Gu who appear in this volume is not good enough yet, and I’m somewhat annoyed about it.

But I know this is related to my daily work and rest schedule not being regular, and real-life work being too draining on my spirit and time-consuming, because daily life is stressful enough, making it hard to find a relatively suitable relaxed mood for writing, so my mood inevitably becomes a bit restless, and even when advancing the plot according to the outline, I still write in a somewhat hasty manner; I’m working hard to improve this mindset, and I’ll try to avoid such mistakes in the next volume.

Then, following the format set in the previous volume, let’s review this volume’s story.

The Eastern mysticism power that appears in this volume is the Ushi-Oni; I suppose some people have already guessed it while reading, and its story background is also mentioned in this volume’s story, so I won’t elaborate; its image is taken from a Japanese artist’s creation “Ushi-Oni momo”, but the Ushi-Oni’s curse is taken from the folk story setting of “clothing and feathers become a flying bird, removing feathers becomes a woman”, except here I’ve added a new setting that using Ushi-Oni feathers for too long will completely turn one into an Ushi-Oni.

Next is Official General General Zeng, taken from the Taoist ghost god in Minnan region’s folk culture( yes, although it is the guardian in front of Ksitigarbha’s seat, it is not Buddhist), with inspiration from Taiwan’s terror game《 Ghost Beating》.

The first Kuthuen faction to appear is Huo Gu, a dimensional race who accidentally gained the ability of longevity, but is cowardly and afraid of death, hiding in darkness, and because of fearing injury, does not dare to easily develop their civilization; based on their race’s character traits, they are set with an appearance similar to rat people.

Next is Kuthuen, no need to say much about its specific image, the blueprint is Cthulhu, except this one appears from underground.

Finally, regarding this volume’s story, I actually prepared a rather knife-like ending, but this knife is not for this volume’s protagonist, but for a supporting character; it felt like it would knife people silly, so I didn’t dare to write it; if everyone wants to see it, I’ll put it in an Easter egg chapter later.

Next volume, Encounter, simply put, it’s another heaven-defying person following Xu Xian, Ning Caichen, and Fall Eleven…

Everyone can imagine what kind of “defying heaven” story this is again.

Humans in this world are too vulnerable; seeing a winged hound in a graveyard causes them to lose their reason, a mere glance at a statue of a tentacled bodhisattva in a crowd leads to endless nightmares and inability to eat or sleep, a fleeting glimpse of a black goat's hoof under the forest shade sends them into a panic... they are simply too vulnerable! People's joys and sorrows are not interconnected. They all seem to live in unease and fear, but Lin Ling only finds them noisy. "The best method to eliminate fear is to face it. This is a video tape full of blessings." Lin Ling handed a black video tape to the guest who suffered from dimensional power intrusions daily, and smiled, "If it's useful, don't forget a five-star good review." Setting up a small dwelling in the forest, the small dwelling sells various consecrated and blessed objects. The boss is actually a mental patient who has transmigrated. He never worries about someone giving his small shop a bad review. [Note 1] This might be a grand collision between Eastern Mysticism and Lovecraftian Power. [Note 2] The story is largely told from a unit perspective. [Note 3] The author is perfectly sane.
