Chapter 68: Forcing Entry
Zhang Xiaoxiao revealed her own secret but did not say it all. She also hoped Huang Cheng would take a step back, at least letting her communicate with him face-to-face. After pondering for a moment, Huang Cheng chose to agree.
After finishing the phone call, she returned the mobile phone to the big-faced law enforcement officer. Zhang Xiaoxiao thanked him: “Thank you. I still don’t know how to address you.”
“No need to be polite. My name is Qin Hai, and I share a life-and-death friendship with Captain Huang. If it’s his matter, I’ll help out to some extent.” Qin Hai smiled slightly, put the mobile phone back in his pocket, and asked with a smile, “How did the talk go?”
“Mm… We’ve reached an agreement, so I’ll head out first. Goodbye, Comrade Qin law enforcement officer.” Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded and turned to leave.
Qin Hai waved goodbye with a smile. His stiff smile featured hollow black eyes staring at the youthful and beautiful figure slowly disappearing from his view. He bared his white teeth, opened his mobile phone to play the recording while making strange low sounds from his mouth, muttering to himself: “What is he looking for Old Huang for at this time? He’s a key attention target…”
While replaying the recording, Qin Hai digested the information from the recording while nodding lightly.
When he heard the sentence “I discovered literature information about the power behind the female killer,” Qin Hai’s gaze instantly turned sinister cold and stern. He clenched and unclenched his teeth, making a creaking collision sound with them, just like gnawing on something.
……
When Xin Junmao ran all the way to one street away from the Civic Sports Center, he suddenly stopped in place, only because the street ahead was sealed off with barriers, and there were several law enforcement officers guarding the entrance. When someone tried to approach, those law enforcement officers would drive them away.
Xin Junmao steeled himself, gritted his teeth, and stepped forward. Sure enough, the law enforcement officers patrolling the street had noticed him early and immediately stopped him.
“What are you doing? Didn’t you see ‘Danger Ahead, Do Not Approach’?” A law enforcement officer saw Xin Junmao and immediately shouted to stop him.
Xin Junmao shrank his neck slightly and said, “I… I have something to do inside. I need to find someone.”
“Find who? There’s no one inside now.” The law enforcement officer laughed angrily after hearing this. He waved his hand, urging Xin Junmao to leave quickly.
Xin Junmao took a deep breath: “No, there are people inside. I know the purpose of sealing this place off. The Mysterious Group people are handling things inside, right? I want to find the Mysterious Group.”
However, this law enforcement officer seemed unaware of the Mysterious Group. These law enforcement officers sent to patrol around the banned area only knew to carry out their mission and were completely ignorant of the truth about the banned area.
The law enforcement officer frowned displeasedly: “What Mysterious Group? Have you read too many novels? I’m reiterating seriously once more: the interior is checking for dangerous items existing in the area. It’s very dangerous ahead, and civilians are temporarily prohibited from entering, so Mr., please leave.”
“I know what that dangerous item is!” Xin Junmao shouted loudly. He didn’t know what sudden inspiration struck him, but seeing the law enforcement officers who suddenly looked serious and wanted to surround him, his toes nervously gripped the ground. “I really know. It’s… it’s a time bomb, right underground. Let me go in to cooperate with the people investigating inside. We can find that ‘time bomb’ faster.”
Although this was a bad idea, Xin Junmao had no other choice at the moment. When he saw the law enforcement officers believing it and slowly approaching to surround him, he felt incredibly clever, thinking that this way, he could smoothly sneak in.
However, the next moment, law enforcement officers from all directions suddenly surged forward and pounced on him.
“Grab this kid, don’t let him run, take him back to the safety bureau!” A law enforcement officer shouted while pouncing toward Xin Junmao.
Hearing that law enforcement officer’s shout, Xin Junmao froze completely, then his facial expression changed drastically as he turned and ran.
After continuously dodging two law enforcement officers’ fierce pounces, Xin Junmao was still grabbed around the waist by a young law enforcement officer and tackled to the ground.
“Well done! Take him back to the safety bureau just like this!” The other law enforcement officers pounced one after another, locking Xin Junmao’s other limbs, leaving him unable to move.
Xin Junmao wanted to cry but had no tears. Reality went against his thoughts, and his heart was filled with dejection at this moment.
But just as Xin Junmao wanted to give up, he suddenly felt his whole body lighten. The weight and power suppressing him all disappeared at once. He looked up and saw those law enforcement officers flying high away, as if all struck flying by an invisible force.
“Comb?!” Xin Junmao felt the commotion in his pocket, his eyes lit up, thinking that the wish he made at the price was indeed worth it.
He seized the opportunity to get up, rushed out of the street, and sprinted with his long legs on the green turf. He planned to cut through the roadside flower beds and vegetation directly to take a shortcut into the Civic Sports Center.
While listening to the chasing shouts from law enforcement officers coming from all directions, Xin Junmao thought with tears in his eyes that persisting in long-distance running training during the time he couldn’t find work was indeed not in vain. Now it was finally his time to shine.
“Damn, that kid runs really fast!”
“Grab him!”
“Don’t let him in!”
“…”
Listening to the “bold declarations” from the law enforcement officer uncles, Xin Junmao ran even faster, as if being chased by a flood or ferocious beast, unleashing his life’s potential.
Ten minutes later, Xin Junmao, with his heart pounding violently, rushed into the Civic Sports Center, heading straight for the stadium back door.
Just as he was about to run into the stadium area, several elder law enforcement officers immediately called to stop the other pursuing law enforcement officers.
Hearing the order, every law enforcement officer had to stand in place gasping for breath, watching helplessly as Xin Junmao’s desperate sprinting figure continued.
“Why not chase anymore?” The law enforcement officer who first stopped Xin Junmao couldn’t help asking the elder law enforcement officer beside him who had called to stop.
Hearing this, the elder law enforcement officer panted while putting on a serious and stern demeanor: “Further ahead is not a realm we can step into, and we don’t need to fear anyway. There are others inside who will stop him.”
“But he said there’s a bomb.” The young law enforcement officer couldn’t help retorting, his eyes filled with worry.
The elder law enforcement officer’s gaze changed slightly, muttering: “A bomb, huh. Quite fitting.”
Xin Junmao was too excited, plus racing at breakneck speed against those average running champion law enforcement officers. He was so nervous he didn’t even dare look back to see how many law enforcement officers were chasing behind, thus not noticing that those law enforcement officers had already given up the pursuit.
Instead, he anxiously opened the underground manhole cover and quickly climbed down the rusty ladder.
While climbing down quickly, Xin Junmao swallowed saliva uneasily.
Thanks to this pair of “eyes” he had now, the dark underground sewer that he originally couldn’t see clearly was no longer pitch black. In his sight, tube-like things full of sticky liquid covered the entire underground.
Upon landing, Xin Junmao felt unsteady underfoot. He felt as if he had entered the digestive system of a giant monster.
First update, the next one will be a bit later.
