Chapter 75: Maggot Person

Immediately after, he felt his hands loosen, losing the sensation of restraint, and he himself stumbled and fell unsteadily. The pair of elders clamping his arms were both violently knocked flying at the same time.
Crawling up and turning back to look, Xin Junmao was surprised to discover two sturdy twin brothers now standing on his left and right. They wore black tank tops, exposing their muscular, well-defined arms, with resolute and righteous faces. Their gazes were piercing as they watched the Gluttonous Daughter followers charging forward.
The brothers clenched their fists, their finger joints emitting crisp cracking sounds. They stepped forward powerfully, colliding with those madmen.
Fists like racing thunder and lightning, feet like a fierce dragon whipping its tail—every attack from the brothers precisely hit the weak points of the human body. Everyone hit by the brothers’ fists and feet almost instantly lost the ability to fight again.
This pair of twin brothers from the Snake Group, Mystic Investigators who had mastered traditional martial arts to great accomplishment, had physiques far beyond normal people. According to them, they could already sense the “qi sensation” from legends and use it, easily doing things normal people couldn’t, such as short-distance leaping over walls and running along eaves, hurting people with plucked leaves, and the like. They no longer needed to carry weapons, because their bodies, tempered a thousand times, were themselves the greatest weapons.
Seeing these two warriors descend like divine weapons from heaven, Xin Junmao sincerely felt a wave of relief and excitement, thinking he was finally safe. His heart relaxed slightly, and he quickly crawled up to find a place to hide.

Under everyone’s shocked gazes, those followers with fanatical expressions yanked out the black tentacles from their chests, pulling them out along with their hearts.

Suddenly, those followers’ corpses swelled and convulsed, like bugs breaking out of pupae. They tore open their human skin, revealing bodies constructed from countless black maggots, tall and burly, with hideous faces.
Watching those corpses turn into crouching evil Maggot People one by one, the Mystic Investigators’ hearts sank.
The Maggot People’s figures moved, their actions unbelievably fast as they pounced toward the Mystic Investigators. Their unnaturally long limbs were filled with terrifying explosive power— a single punch or kick could shatter massive buildings like boulders. At the same time, their flesh was reinforced; the harm bullets could cause them became limited. Even if penetrated, their bodies would heal quickly.
“All retreat farther, I’m throwing a grenade!” Captain He Jia’an shouted to his nearby teammates. Yu Lianyun, Li Yingqi, and the others scattered upon hearing this.
Captain He Jia’an took off a grenade, pulled the pin, timed the explosion precisely, and threw it out. It detonated instantly just a few centimeters from one Maggot Person’s face.
Boom!
The explosive flames spread rapidly, shrapnel hidden in the grenade flying everywhere, piercing through Maggot People one after another. The flames instantly ignited the Maggot People in the explosion area.
Li Yingqi noticed the flames seemed extremely easy to adhere to the Maggot People’s bodies, so she shouted loudly: “They’re afraid of fire, burn them with fire!”
“Afraid of fire?” The Mystic Investigators who had been locked in bitter battle suddenly lit up.
Bu Gaojun, crawling out from a corner covered in dust and dirt, spat out several mouthfuls of sand and mud. After hearing the Maggot People’s weakness, his eyes excited as he pulled a transparent bottle of green oil-like liquid from his tactical backpack.
“Holy crap, isn’t that Green Oil?” Captain He Jia’an noticed Bu Gaojun’s action at a glance, and his eyelids twitched wildly upon seeing what Bu Gaojun took out.
Bu Gaojun chuckled: “Because I saw Captain He use it last time, after the Flesh and Blood Lycoris incident ended, I exchanged my reward from that event for this.”
