Chapter 11: I’m Mister Kerwin’s Person
Marriage alliance, unexpected?
She had anticipated it long ago, but was still shocked by their behavior refreshing the lower limit.
Meng Shuyou more than once suspected whether she was truly Meng Zhenhua’s biological daughter.
Even a tiger does not eat its cubs, yet he would use any methods for benefit, pushing her into the fire pit.
As long as Older Sister is in the Meng Family’s hands for one day, she will never have a way out.
The only way to break away from the Meng Family—Mister Pei.
Meng Shuyou’s gaze gradually focused.
No, she wanted to try again, unwilling to have her fate controlled and manipulated like this.
If she had known it would come to this, she should have gone over to say hello to him that night.
Mister Pei’s whereabouts were secretive, and he did not appear in front of the media; Chicago was so big, the probability of an accidental encounter was minuscule.
Those few days, she tried every means and channel to inquire about Pei Yuzhou’s itinerary, but all in vain.
He had numerous industries in America, so he might not even be in Chicago.
Meng Shuyou didn’t know what to do.
On the last day of the holiday, Mia sent her a message asking: “Baby, how is your foot injury recovering?”
Meng Shuyou: “Much better.”
Mia: “Such a good holiday, yet you can only lie in the dormitory, too miserable.”
Meng Shuyou replied with a helpless expression.
After a while, Mia sent another: “Aaaah! I just saw a god-tier handsome guy with super exceptional temperament, not exaggerating at all, like the male lead walked out of a movie! I sneaked a photograph, take a look.”
She didn’t capture the front face; the other party walked too fast, and with bodyguards around, she only caught a side profile.
Meng Shuyou wasn’t interested at first, just glanced roughly, but her gaze suddenly froze.
A familiar figure.
Even just a side face, she could be certain that the person in the photograph was Mister Pei.
Only he could wear a shirt with such noble relaxed vibe.
It was probably heaven delivering the opportunity right to her.
Meng Shuyou hurriedly typed: “Where did you run into him?”
Mia: “At the club where my cousin works, I came to deliver materials to him.”
Mia: “How is it, super handsome, right?”
Mia: “But this kind of man is only for distant admiration, not to be toyed with; just from him bringing bodyguards into the club, his status is definitely extraordinary.”
Meng Shuyou put down her mobile phone, quickly changed clothes, and went out.
Fortunately, that membership card from last time was still with her.
–
Dusk was falling, streetlights lit up on time, merging with the traffic lights into a sea.
At seven, quite a few luxury cars had already gathered in front of the club’s porch.
Meng Shuyou entered the hall and took the elevator straight to the third floor.
She had asked Mia’s brother, who helped her find out that Mister Pei was here.
“Ding—”
The elevator doors opened.
Passing through a European-style long corridor, two carved doors over three meters high stood open.
Inside was another world, truly resplendent and magnificent.
High arched dome, looking up to see twelve exquisite murals, hundreds of crystal chandeliers hanging down, brightly lit.
Here, one could not distinguish day from night.
It was Meng Shuyou’s first time stepping into such a place; standing there, she felt somewhat out of place.
The hall was filled with all sorts of people gathered around the gambling tables, their faces showing various expressions—excited or annoyed.
Alcoholic drinks, chips, lights—dazzling array.
The air was filled with tea aroma notes, overlaying tobacco and alcohol smells.
It was said that casinos had 24-hour oxygen supply and air purification cycles to keep people in an excited state.
Meng Shuyou scanned around but did not spot Mister Pei’s figure.
Her appearing here alone, with her pure and pretty Asian appearance, was extremely eye-catching.
A man with ill intentions targeted her and came over to strike up a conversation, “Beauty, how come you’re here alone?”
He wore a floral shirt, had a broad build, and grinned to reveal a mouth of yellow teeth.
Meng Shuyou retreated two steps, pulling away the distance, “I’m here to find someone.”
She was just about to go around him when the other party blocked her again, “Who are you looking for? Maybe I know them.”
Meng Shuyou frowned slightly, “No need, I’ll find them myself.”
“No need to be so polite, just treat it as making a friend. How about I buy you a drink?” The man said as he reached out, grabbing her wrist.
Meng Shuyou rejected physical contact from strangers and reflexively shook him off, “Don’t touch me.”
This action somewhat annoyed the other party.
“Isn’t coming here just to have fun? What are you pretending to be.” The man looked her up and down with unclean eyes, “Me buying you a drink is giving you face.”
Meng Shuyou endured her psychological discomfort, knowing she was alone and had no chance of winning, so she brought up Pei Yuzhou, “I’m Mister Kerwin’s person. If you dare to touch me, he won’t let you off.”
“Kerwin? Which Kerwin? I only know the one from Hers Group.” The man sneered, “But from what I know, no woman has appeared by his side. At least make your lie believable.”
Meng Shuyou did not back down, “I’m not lying. I’m here to find Mister Kerwin.”
Some onlookers nearby chimed in a few words as if joining in the fun.
“Do you think you can just see Mister Kerwin whenever you want?”
“Countless people want to climb up to him, but none have a good end. Don’t get yourself involved.”
“Mister Kerwin is very busy. How could he have time for her.”
Meng Shuyou ignored their chatter, “Get out of the way. The club doesn’t allow making trouble.”
The man was not afraid at all and smiled frivolously, “I just want to buy you a drink. How could that count as making trouble?”
Meng Shuyou refused to compromise, “I don’t want to drink. You have no right to force me.”
The other party raised his brow and took a step back, saying: “If you don’t want to drink, then play a round and bet on something.”
He was deliberately trying to make trouble for her today.
Meng Shuyou’s heart tightened, “I won’t.”
She knew nothing about it, so how could she possibly beat the other party? She wouldn’t even know if it was a setup.
The man clearly didn’t believe her, “You come here but don’t drink or play cards? That doesn’t make sense.”
He openly threatened, “Pick one, or you can’t leave today.”
Meng Shuyou: “I pick neither.”
The man lost his patience, “Since you won’t pick, I’ll pick for you. One round decides the winner. If you win, I’ll let you go. If you lose, accompany me tonight.”
–
Inside the independent private room, isolated from the outside noise and disturbance, the space was private and quiet.
Platinum color tone decoration style, paired with ink wash painting marble floor, elegant and luxurious.
In the center was a dark red gambling table, facing the curved sofa.
Pei Yuzhou was leaning back there, holding a tablet in his hand, browsing the market trend.
Several elite gentlemen nearby were holding computers and reporting data, waiting for him to speak.
“Knock knock—”
The knock on the door sounded lightly.
Mark went to open the door.
A middle-aged gentleman came in from outside, handing over a folder with both hands respectfully, “Mister, I’ve brought the document you wanted. Please review it.”
Pei Yuzhou reached out to take it and lowered his head to flip through it.
The middle-aged gentleman thought of the scene just now, hesitated several times, but still decided to mention it, “I just passed by the hall and saw a young lady being harassed. She claimed to be your person and was shouting that she wanted to find you.”
Pei Yuzhou’s page-turning action paused slightly, and he raised his eyes to glance at Mark.
The latter caught his gaze, nodded, and left the private room.
