Chapter 110:
His noble and upright figure was too outstanding, instantly eye-catching.
He was standing by the car, wearing a tailor-made suit vest three-piece set, probably just having attended some formal occasion.
Meng Shuyou gripped her mobile phone and quickly walked down the steps, stopping in front of him, her lips unconsciously curving up. “Mister Pei, didn’t you say you were on a business trip?”
“Came back early.” Pei Yuzhou took the tote bag from her hand. “Did it go smoothly?”
Meng Shuyou nodded. “The competition results will be out in a week, but I feel like I performed okay.”
Pei Yuzhou turned and opened the car door. “Let’s go, time to eat.”
Meng Shuyou was surprised. “You haven’t had lunch yet either?”
It was almost two o’clock now.
“Mm, get in the car.”
“Oh.” She bent down and sat in the back seat.
Pei Yuzhou closed the car door, walked around to the other side, and got in.
The driver started the car.
Meng Shuyou leaned loosely against the seat, turning her gaze. “Mister Pei, when did you arrive?”
Pei Yuzhou glanced at his wristwatch. “Half an hour ago.”
Meng Shuyou hadn’t expected him to come at all. “Thank you for the paint you sent me. The colors it mixes are especially beautiful.”
The paint she usually bought herself was already the best on the market, but it still couldn’t compare to the one Pei Yuzhou sent—hand-ground paint with perfect fusion and collision of colors, optimal viscosity and coverage.
No wonder some artists in the last century went bankrupt to buy this kind of paint.
Pei Yuzhou pressed his long finger to his temple. “If you like it, I can buy more next time there’s an opportunity.”
“No need, it’s too precious. I don’t use it on a regular basis.”
“You just need to think about whether you like it, not whether it’s precious.”
Meng Shuyou’s heart stirred slightly.
It was just like something he would say—never caring about money, only buying what he liked.
Pei Yuzhou had asked someone to book a western restaurant nearby in advance; it was a twenty-minute drive.
Tomorrow was Halloween, and the restaurant’s decorations were very thematic. The front desk was surrounded by haystacks, maple leaves, and preserved flowers, with goofy pumpkin pendant lights hanging overhead, and various cute black cat, wizard hat, ghost… ornaments placed on the dining tables, creating a full atmosphere.
At this time, there were very few people in the restaurant; it was past lunch hours, with only two tables of guests having afternoon tea.
The server came up to greet them, led them to a window seat to sit down, and handed over the menu.
While waiting for their food after ordering, a little boy with golden curly hair ran over and gave Meng Shuyou a handful of candy, looking a bit shy. “Pretty older sister, candy for you. Happy Halloween in advance.”
He was wearing a little British-style suit, stepping in black leather shoes, his pair of blue eyes staring straight at her.
Meng Shuyou was charmed by his cuteness and couldn’t help but pat his head. “Thank you, Happy Halloween to you too.”
The little boy was embarrassed, his cheeks flushing red.
Pei Yuzhou furrowed his brow.
The little boy turned his head and met his gaze. Out of politeness, he asked softly, “Uncle, do you want candy?”
Pei Yuzhou’s gaze was indifferent. “Too much candy will make you dumb.”
The little boy was intimidated by his aura and took two steps back.
Meng Shuyou quickly reassured him. “Uncle doesn’t like candy. Thank you.”
The little boy nodded. “Okay then, I’m going. Goodbye, sister.”
Meng Shuyou waved to him. “Goodbye.”
The little boy turned and ran off.
Meng Shuyou put the candy on the dining table and looked at the man across from her. “Mister Pei, you don’t like kids?”
He didn’t hide it. “I dislike them very much.”
Meng Shuyou was curious. “Then in the future, you won’t like your own kids either?”
Pei Yuzhou raised his brow slightly. “What, do you want to bear mine?”
