Chapter 116:
Pei Yuzhou’s voice was languid, “As expected.”
Meng Shuyou couldn’t help but curve her lips, “Are you so sure that I can win the award?”
Pei Yuzhou lightly hummed, “I believe in you.”
A warm current flowed through Meng Shuyou’s chest, stirring up subtle ripples.
In a moment, a voice came from the mobile phone again.
“Mister, the President of the Hill Hotel Group sent your birthday gift early. I’ve put it on your desk.” Mark said.
“Mm.” Pei Yuzhou stood with his back to the doorway, looking at the distant skyline in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.
Mark put down the gift box and left the office.
Meng Shuyou thought for a moment and asked, “Mister Pei, when is your birthday?”
“The eighteenth.” Pei Yuzhou said straightforwardly, “What, do you want to give me something?”
Meng Shuyou did have this plan. She had received too many gifts from him, so she should reciprocate, “Is there anything you want?”
“Are you sure you want me to say it?”
“Mm.” She weakly added, “But I can’t afford anything too expensive.”
Pei Yuzhou’s thin lips tugged lightly, “The clothes you wore on Halloween, wear them for me to see in the evening.”
After seeing the Moments photograph she posted, her costume style was vastly different from usual. He occasionally needed a bit of novelty too.
Meng Shuyou instantly understood his meaning, her ear roots slightly heating up.
Who would take that as a gift?
She muttered softly, “Can’t you be a little more serious?”
Pei Yuzhou’s expression didn’t change, “Where am I not serious?”
“You’re not serious anywhere.” Meng Shuyou didn’t believe he simply wanted to see her wear the skirt.
Pei Yuzhou raised his brow, “Depends on your sincerity.”
This telephone call had just ended not long ago when Mark returned, “Mister, the housekeeper called. The Old Master is ill and has been sent to the hospital for a check-up.”
Pei Yuzhou tossed down the folder and walked out, “Prepare the car.”
“Okay.” Mark immediately called the driver.

Hospital VIP hospital room.
The Old Master lay on the bed receiving infusion, his face showing a sickly pallor.
Pei Yuzhou pushed the door open and came in, “Grandfather.”
The Old Master turned his head, “Why are you here? Isn’t the company busy?”
“Of course I have to come when you’re ill.” Pei Yuzhou walked to the bedside, “Feeling better?”
The Old Master coughed twice, “What could be wrong with me? Just an old ailment.”
The housekeeper explained truthfully, “The Old Master caught a cold from the temperature drop recently. He’s been coughing for days. The doctor said it’s a bit of pneumonia, and since his heart isn’t great to begin with, the symptoms are more severe.”
Pei Yuzhou frowned slightly, “Why wasn’t he brought to the hospital earlier?”
“I didn’t want to come. The smell of the hospital makes me dizzy.” The Old Master’s voice was thick and hoarse as he propped himself up on the bed to sit.
Pei Yuzhou reached out to support him, “If you don’t come, it will only get worse. The temperature has dropped a lot lately. Try to avoid going out and blowing in the wind.”
The Old Master leaned against the pillow, “It’s stuffy at home, and now you won’t let me go out. It’ll make me ill from boredom.”
The housekeeper walked to the foot of the bed and raised the head of the bed higher so he could lean more comfortably.
“If you got married earlier and gave me a great-grandchild, I wouldn’t be so bored.”
Pei Yuzhou said impassively, “You’re getting off track. When you’re ill, just nourish the body properly and don’t think too much.”
“You won’t even let me think?” The Old Master was clearly displeased, his face stern, “I’m at this age. You don’t want me to go to my deathbed without seeing a great-grandchild, do you?”
Pei Yuzhou sat down on the chair nearby, “You’re doing fine. Don’t talk about dying.”
“Birth, aging, illness, death—it’s inevitable.” The Old Master looked at him, “I’ve never interfered with you because I thought you had your own opinion and measure, that you could handle it well. But what exactly do you mean now?”
Pei Yuzhou followed his words, “Since you think I can handle it well, then don’t worry.”
