Misty Allure – Chapter 24

The Mister Pei From Your Family

Chapter 24: The Mister Pei From Your Family

Back at school, Meng Shuyou and Winnie hurried to find eyewitnesses to the incident.

One girl knew the whole story.

It started when those two guys gossiped about Meng Shuyou behind her back and maliciously spread rumors on the forum that she was kept by an old man. Mia happened to overhear them, told them to delete the post and apologize, but they not only refused but also provoked her with very offensive words.

In a fit of impulse, Mia grabbed an empty beer bottle and hit the guy.

Meng Shuyou hadn’t expected it to be because of her.

Winnie frowned tightly, “Serves him right to get beaten.”

Meng Shuyou quickly thought of a solution, “Let’s go to the hospital.”

Winnie nodded, “Okay.”

They learned the basic info on the injured guy: a junior majoring in photography, a rich young master from a wealthy family.

On the way to the hospital, Winnie seemed to remember something, “Yaoyao, didn’t that guy confess to you before?”

Meng Shuyou had no impression, “I don’t really remember.”

Winnie thought carefully, “It was him, I’m sure. That time we were watching people play basketball at the court, he suddenly confessed to you in front of so many people, and then you refused him.”

Thinking about it this way, the motive was very clear.

“He must have felt he lost face after you refused him and harbored resentment. This kind of person, typical of destroying what he can’t have, no class at all.”

Spreading dirty rumors about a girl costs nothing—just fabricate some facts and spread them, let everyone point and gossip, and the goal is achieved.

Meng Shuyou couldn’t worry about that now; the urgent matter was to get Mia out of the police station as soon as possible.

The hospital wasn’t far from school, half an hour’s drive.

It was already past eight in the evening, with heavy traffic and brightly lit streets.

Upon arriving at the hospital, they went straight to the service desk, got the hospital room number, and took the elevator upstairs.

Single hospital room, door ajar, the guy inside lying in bed watching television and eating fruit.

Meng Shuyou raised her hand and knocked on the door.

The man with dyed red hair glanced over, somewhat surprised, “What are you doing here?”

Winnie said sarcastically, “To offer our condolences.”

Such a minor injury, worth hospitalizing? People who don’t know might think he lost an arm.

“Condolences for me?” He got straight to the point, “I think you’re here for that crazy woman.”

This guy really had a foul mouth.

Winnie held back, sizing him up, “You don’t seem to have much wrong with you, moving freely, looking so healthy.”

Hospitalizing was just wasting medical resources.

The red-haired guy said hostilely, “Didn’t you see the gauze on my arm? That crazy woman smashed me with a beer bottle, needed several stitches.”

Winnie really wanted to curse “serves you right,” should’ve stitched his mouth too.

Meng Shuyou didn’t beat around the bush, “We’ll cover all your medical expenses and emotional damages. We hope you’ll go communicate with the police and not pursue this matter further.”

“Why shouldn’t I pursue it? Do you think I need the money?” The red-haired guy sneered twice, “I’m injured like this, of course she has to pay the price.”

Winnie gritted her teeth, mentally whipping his corpse eight hundred times.

Meng Shuyou calmly said, “You can state any conditions and we’ll negotiate. No need to make this a big deal; it won’t benefit you either.”

“Negotiation isn’t impossible.” The red-haired guy stared at her, eyes naked with lust, “If you sleep with me once, I’ll contact the police right away to let her go.”

Winnie couldn’t tolerate it anymore and unleashed a tirade, “What did you say? Say it again! Don’t you look in the mirror at yourself? Shameless! Is that a tumor on your neck, or is your brain in your trousers? Like a dog in heat, driven only by sperm!”

The red-haired guy was stunned by the cursing, face twisting ugly, “What’s your problem? Want to hit someone? Go ahead, perfect chance to join your friend in the police station.”

“I’ll cripple you before I go in!”

If Meng Shuyou hadn’t held her back, Winnie would’ve rushed up to beat him.

The red-haired guy was sure they wouldn’t dare, “What did I say wrong? She can be kept by someone, pretending to be pure. My skills are good too, you won’t lose out…”

Before he finished, he was suddenly splashed with a face of water.

Meng Shuyou set down the empty cup, warning him, “You spread rumors about me, I can sue you.”

The red-haired guy instantly looked like a drowned rat, hair dripping wet, disheveled and furious, “Go ahead and sue, the police station has my people, see what you can do to me.”

Winnie suddenly realized, “No wonder they’re not following normal procedures—you’re the one behind it!”

The red-haired guy wiped his face, smirking, “So what? Want your friend out? Obey obediently.”

“Dream on.” Meng Shuyou didn’t bother arguing with him, pulled Winnie and left the hospital room.

All the way back, Winnie cursed nonstop, all the dirty words of her life used on that guy, “What now?”

The only person Meng Shuyou could think of right now seemed to be Pei Yuzhou.

New York, Upper East Side.

Night had fallen, the mansion ablaze with lights.

In the study room, the mobile phone vibrated twice.

The video conference hadn’t ended yet.

Group executives were reporting on risk control for the new project.

Pei Yuzhou spoke up to pause, “Ten-minute break.”

He muted the mic and answered the call.

The girl’s soft voice came through, mixed with some urgency, “Mister Pei.”

Pei Yuzhou leaned back in the office chair, “Speak.”

“My friend was locked up in the police station, they won’t let us visit. Can you help?”

“What did she do?”

“Someone spread rumors about me on the school forum, my friend stood up for me and beat him up.”

“What rumors about you?”

Meng Shuyou paused, then said softly, “Rumors that you’re keeping me.”

She added, “But don’t worry, they don’t know who you are.”

Pei Yuzhou tapped the desk lightly, “Go to the police station and wait for her.”

With his one sentence, Meng Shuyou felt relieved at once, her voice much lighter, “Thank you, Mister Pei!”

The call ended.

Winnie had just bought two boxed lunches from the nearby convenience store, “What’d he say?”

Meng Shuyou relaxed, “Should be fine, we’ll just go to the police station and wait for Mia to come out.”

“Heavens, how’d you manage that?” Winnie was shocked, “Who on earth is that guy?”

Meng Shuyou could only say euphemistically, “Someone with some background.”

Mister Pei’s identity, she couldn’t reveal too much, and besides, she didn’t know much herself.

Back at the police station, it was already ten o’clock.

A flashy blue Porsche parked roadside, the man got out of the car, in a striped shirt and light trousers, hair slightly messy, every gesture exuding the temperament of a playboy young master.

Meng Shuyou greeted, “Mister Zhao.”

Zhao Hesong yawned, voice lazily tired, “Your Mister Pei disturbed my sweet dreams, making me come to the police station late at night to bail someone out.”

‘Your Mister Pei.’

This address was somewhat ambiguous.

Meng Shuyou uncomfortably lowered her gaze, “Sorry to trouble you.”

Zhao Hesong resigned himself—who could argue with the client dad.

In the quarter-hour he was in the police station, Mia came out.
