Chapter 55: Flatter Me
The night sky was dim, brightly lit city outside the window, skyscrapers standing tall in the neon night.
Meng Shuyou looked down at New York from this angle, feeling a sense of dreamlike loneliness.
Who chases fame and fortune desires for half a lifetime, and who is born at the top of the class hierarchy.
Kerwin Hers, his name fits best with power and high positions.
Just a moment ago, she felt uncontrollably moved.
The blatant protection from those in power is hard to remain unmoved by.
Calming down to think, benefit is his ultimate goal.
Pei Yuzhou was destined from birth to continue the family’s power and status, feelings are cheap, he never lacks people who love him.
Keeping her by his side is just a whim, when he gets tired, everything should end.
Their relationship should be one of mutual benefit.
What she should do is position herself correctly, borrow his wings to take Older Sister away from the Meng Family, and have no other thoughts.
But Meng Shuyou was still very grateful that he solved the trouble of Ivy, she just wanted to intern peacefully at the art gallery, without getting involved in other messy affairs.
The man’s voice interrupted her thoughts, “What are you thinking?”
Meng Shuyou came back to her senses and shook her head, “Nothing.”
“Are you full?”
“Mm.” She took a sip of watermelon juice and wiped her mouth with a tissue.
Pei Yuzhou stood up and walked out.
Meng Shuyou took her mobile phone and followed.
On the way back, Mark reported Mister Pei’s schedule arrangement for next week in the car.
Almost fully booked.
Two days on a business trip to Washington, inspection of the branch company, back for a senior management meeting, attending business events, banquet social engagements…
Compared to him, Meng Shuyou suddenly felt she was too relaxed.
There was one more thing, Mark asked for an opinion, “Mister, Madame Isha’s private banquet invitation letter has arrived, for the 7th to 10th next month, do you want to make time to go?”
Pei Yuzhou rested his palm on his forehead, his voice lazy, “Don’t want to go.”
Meng Shuyou felt the name she just heard was familiar and asked curiously: “Is Madame Isha the famous art collector from Italy?”
The man lifted his eyes and lightly hummed.
Meng Shuyou looked at him, her gaze expectant, “Really not going?”
Pei Yuzhou raised his brow slightly, “You want to go?”
Meng Shuyou nodded honestly, “Mm-hmm.”
She heard that Madame Isha had many unique art pieces at home, of extremely high collection value, some never publicly shown on the market, only visible at her private banquet.
Meng Shuyou gently grabbed his sleeve and pleaded: “If you go, can you take me with you?”
He deliberately said: “What can you do for me if I take you?”
Meng Shuyou said: “Anything, I can be your assistant.”
Pei Yuzhou tugged his lips, “You want to compete with Mark for work.”
“Just a few days.” Meng Shuyou looked at the front passenger seat, “Mark, you won’t mind, right?”
Mark: “If Mister doesn’t mind, I don’t mind.”
Meng Shuyou turned her head to continue pleading with Pei Yuzhou, “Mister Pei, I guarantee I’ll be at your beck and call, whatever you ask me to do, I’ll do it.”
Pei Yuzhou repeated faintly, “Whatever I ask you to do, you’ll do it?”
“Mm.”
“Come sit over here.” he said.
Meng Shuyou hesitated for a few seconds, “…now?”
Pei Yuzhou raised his brow, “Any problem?”
There were other people in the car, Meng Shuyou felt embarrassed, “But…”
Before she finished speaking, the baffle had already descended, separating the front and back seats.
Mark was indeed Mister Pei’s special assistant, with great perceptiveness.
Meng Shuyou pursed her lips, crossed the central armrest, slowly moved over, and sat sideways on the man’s open lap.
Skirt hem pressed against his trousers.
Pei Yuzhou held her lower back, her slender thin back fully covered by one palm, pulling her into his arms.
Meng Shuyou instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.
Their breaths drew close, sprinkling on the skin.
Pei Yuzhou pinched her face, “How do you plan to be my assistant? Do you know about company matters?”
“…No.”
She could only do odd jobs, make coffee, and knew nothing else.
Pei Yuzhou gave her an opportunity, “Please me, and I’ll consider it.”
How to please him?
Meng Shuyou gripped his shirt collar and leaned in proactively, her red lips pressing against his thin ones.
Warm breaths intertwined.
Pei Yuzhou tightened his arm, watching her inexperienced movements.
He didn’t close his eyes at all, liking to watch her expressions, whether shy and blushing or pure and clumsy.
Ambiguous fragmented pecking sounds overflowed from their lips.
Meng Shuyou didn’t persist long, kissing herself until her face was flushed, lips slightly parted as she panted.
Pei Yuzhou found it amusing, his fingertip wiping the wetness from the corner of her lips, “Kissed a few times and you still don’t know how to breathe.”
Mocked by him, Meng Shuyou felt unconvinced, “It’s not that many times, okay.”
Pei Yuzhou’s brows curved up, “So you’re saying you haven’t kissed enough.”
Meng Shuyou buried her face in his shoulder, denying stuffily, “That’s not what I mean.”
Fine, she admitted, she really had no talent in this area.
Later, he took back control.
They kissed all the way home.
Her lips were thoroughly swollen, and when getting out of the car, she hung her head low, afraid others would see.
Pei Yuzhou closed the car door and walked up the steps unhurriedly.
Mark spoke at his side, “Mister, just now there was a telephone call from the Long Island manor, the Old Master wants you to go back tomorrow.”
–
The next day.
At dusk the sun set, half the sky dyed orange-yellow, soft as silk.
The garden in front of the villa spanned a thousand square meters, with carefully tended flowers swaying fragrantly.
In the pavilion by the lake, the Old Master and the housekeeper were playing chess at the marble table.
King and rook swapped places, the chess game’s outcome was decided.
The Old Master pushed up his reading glasses on his nose bridge and saw clearly, “You’re letting me win again.”
The housekeeper smiled and denied, “I wouldn’t, I learned chess from you, how could I compare to you.”
“I’m old, not as good as before.” The Old Master reset the chessboard, “But Kerwin could beat me when he was a teenager.”
The housekeeper stood up, lifted the teapot to pour tea, “Kerwin Mister has your boldness.”
The Old Master sighed, “He is stubborn to the bone, no one can stop him from doing what he wants, and forcing him to do what he doesn’t want is useless.”
His temperament is increasingly like that person’s, not necessarily a good thing.
The housekeeper comforted, “Kerwin Mister knows measure in his actions, you don’t need to worry too much.”
As they spoke, the Maybach drove into the manor, circled around the fountain pool, and slowly stopped.
A tall figure stepped out from the car, walking straight this way.
Pei Yuzhou spoke, “Grandfather, you wanted to see me.”
The Old Master lightly tapped the table, “Play a game.”
Pei Yuzhou sat across from him.
The housekeeper brewed a fresh cup of tea and handed it over, “Kerwin Mister, have some tea.”
Pei Yuzhou politely said: “Thank you.”
Both sides’ chess pieces moved in turn on the board.
“I heard you’re keeping that girl by your side.” The Old Master looked at him through his glasses, “What are your plans?”
Pei Yuzhou was not surprised, calmly picked up the teacup for a sip, “Haven’t thought that far.”
What he’s doing now is all following his whims, who can say for sure about the future.
The Old Master really couldn’t see through what he was thinking, “You refused the marriage alliance, because of her?”
“No.” Pei Yuzhou set down the teacup, “Marriage alliances involve too many benefits, not a good thing.”
He chuckled lowly, “What benefit does a marriage alliance bring me?”
The Old Master had nothing to say.
Indeed, marriage alliances are a bargain for others.
“Whether you date or keep a woman is up to you, I can’t control it.” He warned again, “But my words remain the same, don’t let yourself fall into feelings.”
