Chapter 62:
–
Downstairs, the banquet had not yet ended.
Lights flickered, glasses clinked, red wine swayed in the glass cups.
Pei Yuzhou lazily leaned on the sofa, fiddling with a lighter in his hand, flipping the lid open and closed.
Everyone present was an elite in a suit, either business magnates or famous socialites, all fawning and flattering to build connections.
Some even wanted to send women to Pei Yuzhou’s side, going to great lengths for cooperation, even willing to throw in their own daughters.
Someone nearby couldn’t stand it, “Mr. Kerwin came with a female companion today; this is probably inappropriate.”
“Sorry, sorry, I didn’t know.” The balding man made excuses, “But for someone of Mr. Kerwin’s status, having a few more women around is perfectly reasonable; it’s a blessing to be by Mr. Kerwin’s side.”
In their social circle, built on money and desire, who didn’t have a few women, some even with illegitimate children crawling all over the place.
Pei Yuzhou had heard such talk too many times; it was very boring.
“It seems some people still don’t quite understand our Mr. Kerwin; not everyone has time for left and right embraces, nor does everyone have the qualification to appear by Mr. Kerwin’s side.”
“Good thing Mr. Kerwin’s female companion isn’t here, or she’d be jealous.”
“Women get jealous when they care.”
Pei Yuzhou didn’t speak, not interested in listening to them.
Just as he was about to leave, someone approached, “Cousin Kerwin, you’re here too.”
The young man who spoke had a baby face, wore a bright-colored suit, with his tie clip not properly fastened, looking unserious.
Pei Yuzhou’s thin lips curved slightly, “It’s been a while; you’ve grown taller.”
He said smugly, “I’m almost 1.8 meters now.”
The noblewoman behind him, wearing a green halter formal dress, scolded, “What’s the use of growing taller? Learn more from your cousin; don’t be idle and aimless all day.”
Lucas was unconvinced, “Mommy, how am I idle?”
The noblewoman was exasperated, “You only know to play games all day, and lately you’ve been obsessed with raising a pet reptile; if that’s not idle, what is?”
Lucas retorted, “I finally finished high school; can’t I relax properly?”
“Aren’t you relaxed enough usually? Any more and you’ll be flying to the heavens.”
“Mommy, this is in public; give me some face.”
“You still know about face.”
The noblewoman stopped, changing the topic, “Kerwin, how is your grandfather’s health?”
Pei Yuzhou’s tone was indifferent, “He’s fine.”
“In a while, I’ll go to America to visit him.” The noblewoman patted her son, “And you’ll come with me.”
“Got it.”
Pei Yuzhou had no interest in watching their parent-child interaction; he took his mobile phone and went upstairs.

Eight in the morning.
Meng Shuyou slept until she woke naturally, got up to wash up and change clothes.
She opened the door, and the servant in the corridor greeted her, “Good morning, Miss Elara. Would you like breakfast now? I can have it sent to your room.”
Meng Shuyou asked, “Where is Mr. Kerwin?”
“He should be busy.” The servant relayed, “Mr. said you can stroll around nearby; there are stables, olive groves, and vineyards here with nice views.”
“Okay.”
Meng Shuyou ate breakfast in the room, took her camera, and went out for a stroll.
Since she was here, she should take more photographs to bring back.
Behind the castle, a large woods; as far as the eye could see, hills layered and stretched.
The view was open, taking in the scenery.
She walked forward while taking photographs.
By coincidence, she ran into that handsome guy from yesterday again.
William was painting under a tree shade; seeing her approach, he quickly set down the canvas to cover it, smiling, “Hello, Elara, we meet again.”
