Chapter 80:
Meng Shuyou borrowed a black umbrella, and the staff even said it didn’t need to be returned.
The hospital’s humane service is indeed very good.
“Boom——”
Thunder roared, and a bolt of lightning split the night sky.
The sound masked the vibration of the mobile phone in the bag; she had set it to silent before her afternoon nap and forgot to turn it back on.
Three missed calls, all from Pei Yuzhou.
Zheng Huaijin took the umbrella from her hand, “I’ll hold it.”
With his height of one meter eighty, Meng Shuyou naturally wouldn’t compete with him, “Then you give me the other things to carry.”
“No need.” Zheng Huaijin held the umbrella open with one hand overhead, tilting it toward her side, “Let’s go.”
–
One hour ago.
The private plane landed at Kennedy International Airport.
Pei Yuzhou walked out through the VIP channel.
Mark carried a 16-inch briefcase in his right hand, following behind him.
Inside the suitcase was a complete set of paintbrushes and paint, lapis lazuli paint made from Afghanistan lapis, hand-ground, with scarce raw materials, bought at the auction and specially brought back.
The driver was waiting outside the airport.
After getting in the car, Pei Yuzhou called Meng Shuyou, but she didn’t answer, so he called the landline at home.
The servant answered the telephone call.
“Is Elara at home?” he asked.
Tina said truthfully: “Miss Elara went out without eating dinner, saying she was going to see a friend.”
Pei Yuzhou’s brow furrowed slightly, “What friend to see in the evening.”
Tina: “I’m not clear on that either.”
Pei Yuzhou hung up the phone, “Mark, check her location.”
“Okay.” Mark took out his mobile phone, opened the positioning system and operated it; ten minutes later, he found the specific location information, “Mister, Miss Meng is at the hospital.”
Pei Yuzhou’s gaze darkened slightly, “Go straight there.”
It started raining on the way, and they encountered a traffic accident causing a blockage, delaying a bit of time.
Eight o’clock, arrived near the hospital, and the car stopped at the roadside.
He called two more times, but still no one answered; irritation showed between his brows.
The crowd around was quite dense, with car lights flashing in the rain curtain.
Pei Yuzhou lowered the car window, turned his head, and his gaze looked ahead; he almost immediately caught sight of Meng Shuyou’s figure.
She was sharing an umbrella with another man.
Meng Shuyou didn’t notice the business car at the roadside; a woman with an anxious expression ran toward the hospital and nearly bumped into Meng Shuyou; Zheng Huaijin instinctively put his arm around her shoulders.
“Are you okay?”
Meng Shuyou steadied herself, “No.”
The faint jasmine fragrance on her body lingered at his nose; Zheng Huaijin was momentarily dazed, then gentlemanly released his hand.
Meng Shuyou noticed that the sleeve of half his arm was wet and darkened, “Tilt the umbrella a bit more toward your side, or you’ll get wet.”
Zheng Huaijin didn’t mind, “It’s fine; I’ll just take a shower back at the hotel.”
“You’ll get sick easily…”
Before she finished speaking, another sudden voice interrupted, “Does it matter to you if he gets sick?”
Meng Shuyou’s heart contracted sharply; she raised her head and saw Pei Yuzhou standing opposite, her voice trembling, “Mister Pei…”
Wasn’t he supposed to be in Germany? How could he be here?
Zheng Huaijin remembered the man in front of him; he had seen him once at the golf club before and knew that he and Meng Shuyou had an unusual relationship, so he took the initiative to explain, “We’re just ordinary friends; don’t misunderstand Yaoyao.”
Pei Yuzhou sneered coldly, his gaze gloomy, “Yaoyao, you call her quite intimately.”
Meng Shuyou was frightened by his icy gaze, “I can explain to you.”
Pei Yuzhou curled his lip, his voice devoid of any warmth, “Explain in his arms?”
Thunder boomed loudly overhead; Meng Shuyou’s eardrums shook, and a sense of oppression enveloped her layer by layer, her breathing stagnating.
She clenched her palm and ran through the rain toward Pei Yuzhou.
“Yaoyao…” Zheng Huaijin wanted to stop her but couldn’t; he should have given her the umbrella.
The rain was heavy; in just a few steps, a large area of her clothes was wet, and her face was covered in raindrops.
Meng Shuyou didn’t care to wipe it off and said softly: “Mister Pei, I really can explain.”
Mark extended the umbrella forward; raindrops slanted and beat disorderly on the umbrella surface.
Pei Yuzhou said coldly, “Get in the car.”
Zheng Huaijin stood in place, watching them leave in a daze.
That man’s aura alone indicated he was no ordinary person; with such a dominant attitude, would Yaoyao get hurt following him?-
Inside the car, the atmosphere was eerily quiet.
Mark silently lowered the baffle, not getting involved in the boss’s private matters.
Pei Yuzhou leaned back in the seat, saying nothing, with emotion suppressed in his eyes.
Meng Shuyou knew he was angry and felt like she was sitting on pins and needles; she moved her lips and said cautiously: “We’re just friends; he was sick, so I came to the hospital to check on him; nothing else.”
Pei Yuzhou’s gaze fell on her face, “Are you here to check on him or to take care of him? If I hadn’t come, where would you go with him? Does he have no one around him? Is it your turn to care?”
Faced with his series of questions, Meng Shuyou’s heart trembled, and she didn’t know how to respond for a moment.
“Speak.” His tone grew heavier, “You know I can’t tolerate sand in my eyes, yet you get so close to him; how many times has this happened?”
“It’s not like that.” Meng Shuyou’s eyelashes trembled as she confessed to him, “A while ago in the domestic area, he advanced medical expenses for my older sister, so I felt I owed him a favor.”
Pei Yuzhou’s face darkened further; he reached out and gripped her wrist, “If you need money, why not ask me? Have I ever treated you poorly? Or are you mute?”
His strength was terribly strong, with veins bulging on the back of his hand.
Meng Shuyou felt the pain but didn’t dare make a sound; her eyes reddened, “It’s my fault; I won’t do it again next time.”
Pei Yuzhou leaned in and pinched her chin, “You still want a next time?”
Meng Shuyou feared his cold demeanor, her voice weak, “No.”
“Delete the contact now.” His tone was commanding.
“Not now…”
Pei Yuzhou tightened his fingertips, “Say that again.”
Her fair skin was marked with finger imprints from his grip.
“I haven’t paid him back the money yet.”
The design drafts weren’t finished either, but Meng Shuyou didn’t dare say it.
Pei Yuzhou narrowed his eyes, “I’ll get someone to pay him back; delete it now.”
“Mister Pei, you can’t be so unreasonable.” Meng Shuyou lowered her gaze to avoid his eyes, “I won’t meet him privately again.”
Pei Yuzhou sneered, “You’re lecturing me on reasoning?”
No one had ever dared to lecture him on reasoning to his face.
Meng Shuyou was hurt by him and pushed at him, “Mister Pei, don’t do this…”
Pei Yuzhou released his hand, “Come here.”
The two words brought a wave of pressure that made Meng Shuyou feel intensely uneasy.
She slowly stood up and shuffled over, bending at the waist.
Pei Yuzhou grabbed her wrist and made her sit on his lap; without another word, he undid the obstructive clothes on her body.
Meng Shuyou was firmly held in his arms, her chest heaving in panic, “Pei…”
Pei Yuzhou didn’t give her a chance to speak, biting her lip and prying it open; his hands didn’t stop, forceful and rough, several buttons torn off.
The half-wet clothes were messily thrown on the ground.
Meng Shuyou had nowhere to hide, her voice spilling intermittently from her lips, “Don’t…”
Pei Yuzhou bit her lip hard and gripped her waist with his large hand, “What, now you won’t even let me touch you?”
