Chapter 11: Victim Blocking The Door, Threats
“That’s exactly what he said.” Li Ming explained cautiously.
He actually really wanted to pocket that money, but the dormitory clears the building at night, so he had to go out anyway.
After thinking it over, he decided to honestly relay the message.
He was bound to run into him sooner or later, Su Chen realized this and couldn’t help feeling it was tricky.
This guy had ulterior motives, and who knew what game he was playing with Jiang He.
But it was about as expected, clearly treating him as the breakthrough point, and Jiang He clearly knew it too, using him as bait.
“Got it, go tell him I’ll come down in a bit.” Su Chen nodded.
Li Ming felt like he was granted amnesty and turned to leave.
“Wait…”
His footsteps froze; he really wanted to ignore it and hurry downstairs, but after weighing it for a moment, he helplessly turned back.
“Here, for you.” Su Chen flicked a gold coin, and Li Ming hurriedly caught it, somewhat surprised.
“Thanks…” He forced out the two words before going downstairs.
Su Chen thought for a moment, then simply returned to his room to continue improving the Candlelight Mental Training Method.
Since he had to run into him sooner or later, better to do it later; he’d deal with it tomorrow. He wasn’t hungry anyway.
Time passed, and South Wind City’s artificial light sources gradually turned to a soft earthy yellow.
Downstairs from the dormitory building, Jiang He’s victim husband looked up coldly, staring at a certain floor.
The next morning, Su Chen woke up leisurely, stretched, and yawned. From yesterday afternoon to evening, he’d been training his body and mind, exhausting himself completely and sleeping deeply.
This place was relatively safe. South Wind Academy had the City Lord as principal. The last time he heard of an internal student death was three years ago; the City Lord personally sent people to investigate three times, implicating nearly a hundred people before letting it go.
The panel showed clear progress in every item.
【Strongman: 3%】
【Candlelight Mental Training Method—Mastery: 15%】
He’d already broken the limit three times, and the 【Scholar】 requirement had been reduced by three months.
The yearly reductions weren’t fixed; once it directly reduced by two months, faster than he’d imagined.
This visualized progress let him see the results of every effort, filling him with motivation.
“But now I really have to go out.”
After washing up, Su Chen touched his stomach and muttered to himself, “He wouldn’t have waited downstairs all night, would he…”
The moment he stepped out of the dormitory building, Su Chen sensed a gaze on him. Looking over, there was a figure standing under a thick yellow maple tree opposite.
Wearing a custom black-brown suit, impeccably dressed, he could indeed be called handsome, with regular features and a pair of charming blue eyes.
He really waited all night, Su Chen thought to himself.
Their gazes met, and Qi Chuan stared quietly at Su Chen. Indeed a fine skin, no wonder he caught his wife’s eye.
This kid had been intimate with Jiang He at his home, so he should know his appearance. Qi Chuan tried to find panic and unease on Su Chen’s face, but there was only calm.
Caught red-handed by the rightful husband, he should feel at least a little guilty. Qi Chuan thought of yesterday’s prank again, his mood worsening.
He thought this, but made no move, just staying in place, waiting for Su Chen to come over and take the initiative.
In the end, Qi Chuan’s face darkened as he saw Su Chen turn around, seemingly wanting to go back. Left with no choice, he called out lightly: “Su Chen!”
Quite a few passing students cast strange glances, but didn’t pay too much attention.
Qi Chuan felt displeased and came up behind Su Chen, taking the initiative: “Dare to do but not to admit?”
Su Chen turned around slowly. “Who are you?”
“Don’t pretend, I’m Jiang He’s husband!” Qi Chuan lowered his voice a bit; the dormitory building’s security eyed them suspiciously.
“So you’re a fellow man, my respects.” Su Chen looked enlightened.
Qi Chuan was stunned, then sneered coldly. “You’re quite fearless, thinking Jiang He has your back?”
“No, I just see you, senior, as refined and courteous, definitely not the rude type.” Su Chen explained.
Qi Chuan frowned slightly. This guy’s reaction was unexpected, making the lines he’d prepared hard to use. He still said coldly: “Why did you toy with me yesterday?”
“I didn’t. Haven’t I come down now? It just took a little time.” Su Chen asked puzzled.
Qi Chuan paused, too lazy to quibble, his tone grim: “Kid, don’t think you can rest easy. Aren’t you curious why your time to leave the city changed from three months to half a month?”
“It wasn’t half a month before?” Su Chen looked baffled.
Qi Chuan felt stifled. This kid in front of him didn’t seem like an inexperienced inferior refugee. He’d thought the identity of Jiang He’s husband would throw him off.
But threats and intimidation were like hitting cotton, igniting nameless anger in him.
“Wait, bro, what do you mean exactly? You big shots don’t each mind your own business? Don’t you have a lover?” Su Chen feigned confusion. “Just because I slept with your wife once, you’re really flying into a rage?”
Qi Chuan’s eyes flickered. This kid was smarter than he’d imagined, so he needed a different approach.
The grimness on his face faded, turning indifferent as he led Su Chen to a corner and lowered his voice: “You’re a smart guy, so I’ll be direct. I want to know what exactly happened that night.”
“That night?” Su Chen was shocked, looking Qi Chuan up and down, hesitating to speak.
Qi Chuan’s gaze was deep; Su Chen’s reaction confirmed he knew.
“You big shots are really hard to understand…” Su Chen fidgeted, looking troubled, then sighed: “Forget it, you’re Jiang He’s husband after all, I can understand…”
“That night, I went to her… she took off my clothes… red wine trailed… her face flushed… I said… she said… her voice was so… we had a great time…”
Qi Chuan listened intently at first, but his face gradually darkened, and he shouted angrily: “Enough!”
His eyes were fierce, blazing flames nearly bursting out. Though he had his own schemes, hearing his wife’s live erotic tale, how could he truly stay calm.
Eyes that could spew fire? What profession was this? Su Chen thought subconsciously.
“Annoyed now? You told me to say it. I thought Teacher Jiang He was joking when she said you had special fetishes.” Su Chen backed away repeatedly, looking clueless: “I didn’t want to say it anyway. I don’t have any special fetishes.”
Special fetish? Qi Chuan’s expression shifted as he understood what was meant, red patterns emerging on his cheeks.
No… He took a deep breath, suppressing his anger again. The abnormal changes on his body gradually faded as he tried to speak calmly: “That’s not what I want to know.”
“Then what do you want to know?” Su Chen frowned.
Qi Chuan fell silent, looking at this somewhat baffled guy in front of him, unable to see through him. He’d nearly lost control himself.
“…South Wind Academy is the cradle for cultivating South Wind City’s core forces. Every class selects a batch of students for focused cultivation—resources, status, knowledge, all available.” He stopped interrogating and said slowly instead:
“Since you’re smart, you should understand Jiang He won’t invest much in you. Tell me what you know, and I can arrange for you to be on the focused training list.”
“I can even delay your time to leave the city, giving you some self-protection strength.”
Su Chen said helplessly: “What exactly do you want to know?”
Qi Chuan stared at him, not pressing further, just tossing out a gilded card and saying indifferently: “Think it over. When you figure it out, break it.”
