Chapter 22: Wang Xiaoming: I Have Quite The Family Fortune
“This world really feels a bit unfamiliar now.” Zhang Yao Cheng lit another cigarette, his gaze shifting, “Xiao Qian, did you really say you wanted to catch ghosts before?”
“Of course, I’ve experienced at least three supernatural events in the past few days…” Zhang Qian briefly recounted the experiences of the past few days.
Zhang Yao Cheng hugged the trembling Zhang Mom, showing affection to his son, “Hundreds of deaths at a time… and that’s just what you saw, who knows how many more in other places.”
Suddenly, Zhang Yao Cheng seemed to think of something, pulling a card from his bag, “This was introduced to me by a boss at a gathering, some expert in the supernatural, supposedly a ghost controller, have you heard of it?”
“Let me see.” Zhang Qian reached out to take the business card, feeling as icy cold as picking up a lump of ice.
The business card featured a teenage boy with narrow eyes squinted into hooks, smiling somewhat icy cold.
“Xiao Fan… Did that boss tell you to find the person on the business card if you encounter a supernatural event?” Zhang Qian rubbed the card, “Even using himself as an example, telling you this Xiao Fan really has some skills.”
“Exactly, how did you know?” Zhang Yao Cheng was somewhat surprised, noticing Zhang Qian’s expression and reacting, “This thing has a problem?”
“Discovered early, so it’s still not too late.” Zhang Qian placed his hand on Zhang Yao Cheng’s wrist, releasing a stream of true qi to probe inside.
In no time, the true qi detected some scattered yin energy in Zhang Dad’s body.
“Dad, endure it, it might be a bit uncomfortable.” Zhang Qian kindly reminded.
“Heh, your dad started from nothing, what scene haven’t I seen—” The sudden intense pain made Zhang Yao Cheng grit his teeth hard, beads of sweat the size of beans appearing on his forehead.
Zhang Mom distressedly wiped the sweat from his forehead, and after it ended, fed him a sip of water.
Zhang Yao Cheng’s clenched fist slowly relaxed, saying with difficulty: “It’s okay… just average level.”
Zhang Qian cooperatively praised: “Awesome, as expected of my dad.”
“You removed the method left by that Xiao Fan?” Zhang Yao Cheng caught his breath, “Did he put some kind of curse on me?”
“Something like that. Ghost controllers are people who have gained part of fierce ghost power, most of them are not normal, you should avoid contact with these guys in the future.”
Zhang Qian pointed at the card, “Xiao Fan left some supernatural power in this business card, long-term contact will make one feel like falling into an icy cold abyss, even risking one’s life. Then when you call him for help, he stops the corrosion, thereby gaining your gratitude and reward.”
But the damage caused by the corrosion can’t be reversed, Zhang Qian could root out the supernatural only because of his special nature plus Zhang Dad not being corroded for long, missing either would likely turn into a situation like Liu Ren’s.
“How about we pay to avert disaster, if he wants three to five hundred million, I’ll give it to him.” Zhang Yao Cheng hesitated for a moment, saying these seemingly cowardly words.
Although Zhang Yao Cheng was just an ordinary person, he could also feel the danger of the supernatural, rather than creating unknown enmity for his son, paying to avert disaster seemed more cost-effective to him.
“Don’t worry, this guy probably hasn’t noticed yet, I’ll have headquarters sanction him later.” Zhang Qian comforted, “If it really doesn’t work, we’ll give him the money then, how about that?”
“You know more about this than me, of course I’ll listen to you.” Zhang Yao Cheng unhesitatingly agreed.
Zhang Qian then took out paper and pen, educating the two elders on what to do after encountering a ghost.
“The most crucial thing when encountering supernatural is to stay calm, ghosts have no consciousness, they only kill according to rules. Each ghost’s killing pattern is different, maybe hearing you speak, maybe being touched by you…”
“In short, the more actions, the easier to trigger the pattern, leading to the ghost’s attack. So must act calmly, wait for rescue. If you can figure out the pattern, surviving will be much easier.”
At this point, Zhang Qian’s gaze flickered, quietly exchanging a look with Zhang Yao Cheng.
Zhang Yao Cheng saw the icy cold in Zhang Qian’s eyes, first stunned, then nodded in understanding.
If they really encountered a supernatural event, those unpersuadable fools would find survival hope for others.
“Supernatural has just emerged, I don’t know much either, summed up it’s probably just these few points.” Zhang Qian quickly wrote down a few precautions, handing it to Zhang Dad.
“Good, I’ll remember it…” Zhang Yao Cheng silently memorized the note, solemnly putting it into his inner pocket.
“No more of that, let’s talk about something fun.” Zhang Qian said mysteriously, “What business are you doing lately? I have a 100% money-making opportunity here.”
“Really? Tell me.” Zhang Yao Cheng perked up, could Zhang Qian tell fortunes and predict the market?
Zhang Qian didn’t keep it secret, directly saying, “Gold, it will absolutely be the most valuable thing in the future, even a strategic material.”
“But lately gold prices are dropping instead, most people are selling.” Zhang Yao Cheng thought for a moment, “Could this be a trap?”
“Yes, gold is the only substance that can affect or even isolate supernatural, only objects made of gold can imprison fierce ghosts.” Zhang Qian said, taking out the gold box to show, “If even its price is dropping, that means governments worldwide have joined hands in a scheme to acquire large amounts of civilian gold.”
“I see, but this can’t be rushed, buying gold in large quantities during a downturn might attract some unwanted attention.”
Zhang Yao Cheng thought, saying: “If it’s really a trap, the price will fluctuate in waves, I’ll buy in the next rise.”
Zhang Qian nodded indicating no objection, “Dad, find a reliable construction team, I plan to build a safe house with gold. Headquarters owes me quite a few favors, converted to gold it should be a lot.”
Since a gold box can imprison fierce ghosts, then a house covered in gold could resist fierce ghosts, right?
But with limited funds currently, Zhang Qian planned to first make one room, sealed with gold for emergencies.
“No problem.” After so many years of struggle, Zhang Yao Cheng still had a group of trusted subordinates.
After explaining these, Zhang Qian left home, heading to that abandoned factory to wait for Wang Xiaoming’s arrival.
During this time, he called Feng Quan and Zhang Han, learning they had left the police station.
Unknowing how much time passed.
A familiar coughing sound woke Zhang Qian from his meditation.
He opened his eyes, sizing up the emaciated Li Yan, then looked at the male youth standing behind Li Yan, wearing a white coat and looking like a researcher.
“You’re Wang Xiaoming, Professor Wang? Don’t tell me this is another illusion.”
“I’m not that bored, using power hurts too.” Li Yan grumbled in his hoarse voice, “After so long apart, the first thing you do is doubt me.”
“Yes, I’m Wang Xiaoming, where’s the ghost skeleton?” Wang Xiaoming stepped past Li Yan, asking eagerly.
“Here.” Zhang Qian poured out a pile of broken bones with a clatter, “Where’s your trading fierce ghost?”
“Li Jun, come in.” Wang Xiaoming ordered, and a heavy truck drove into the factory.
He opened the explosion-proof steel door of the cargo box, revealing a golden glow inside.
“Pick two you like.”
