Chapter 39: Spending Pocket Change To Act Tough
Zhang Qian wisely shut his mouth and didn’t press further.
It turned out that body fragrance really existed in this world; he had previously thought it was just something those novel authors fantasized about.
“If you’re scared, then don’t watch,” Zhang Qian said helplessly.
At this moment, the girl was pressed fully against him, her hands unknowingly hugging Zhang Qian’s arms.
Although it was very soft, Zhang Qian wasn’t the type to lust after beauty.
“I’m fine…” Yu Xin’s voice trembled a bit. “Zhang Qian, do you think ghosts really exist in this world?”
“You have to believe in science. Even if ghosts really exist, how many rocket launches could they withstand?”
“And those legendary monsters don’t exist either? Like zombies, fox demons, painted skin, and such monsters.” Yu Xin lifted her head, seeking confirmation from Zhang Qian.
“They probably don’t exist. Otherwise, catching a couple of fox demons would feel pretty nice.”
“Whimper whimper whimper.”
“Huh? What are you doing?”
Yu Xin blushed, her watery eyes looking at Zhang Qian in confusion. “Don’t foxes make sounds like that?”
Zhang Qian was greatly shocked.
Damn, this woman was really good at it.
After this little interlude, Jiang Yu Xin behaved much more properly in the following time, though her hold on Zhang Qian’s arm still didn’t move away.
Zhang Qian scrolled through his mobile phone, but in his mind, he sighed that this was the downside of being handsome. If he were a casual person, Jiang Yu Xin would probably have been tricked into bed by him already.
Unknowingly, more than an hour had passed.
Zhang Qian checked the time and felt it was about time for the meal.
He gently nudged Jiang Yu Xin, who was dozing on his shoulder. “Wake up, time for the meal.”
“Mm~”
After a moan, not only did she not wake up, she even nuzzled closer into Zhang Qian’s arms.
Looking at her delicate face and rosy lips, Zhang Qian had an immature idea.
“Mmph, what are you rubbing.” Yu Xin opened her eyes, speaking unclearly.
“Sorry, couldn’t hold back.”
Zhang Qian withdrew his hand, unable to help sighing that this face was truly tender; its elasticity and smoothness were even better than Ghost Hand.
“Sorry, is your hand sore?”
“It’s fine. I’m pretty healthy, and you’re not heavy.” After Zhang Qian spoke, he noticed Yu Xin seemed to be thinking about something again. “Why are you blushing?”
He always felt this woman was unusually dirty-minded.
Jiang Yu Xin fanned herself with her hand and said seriously, “The weather is too hot. I wasn’t thinking anything weird.”
She glanced at her mobile phone. “Oh, it’s already six o’clock. Let’s go in too.”
With that, she dragged Zhang Qian into the private room.
Zhang Qian looked at her mobile phone and fell into thought. So the promised dead battery was at 99%? That counts as dead, huh.
Sure enough, pretty women all lie.
Before entering the private room, Zhang Qian had Yu Xin let go of his hand.
Facing her puzzled gaze, Zhang Qian explained, “We’re already at the door. I’m not going to get lost.”
“Ah?” Jiang Yu Xin’s little mouth opened slightly; she hadn’t expected Zhang Qian to give such a reason.
Was he treating her like a waiter?
She ground her teeth unwillingly. She had thought their relationship had gotten closer after the afternoon, but it had no effect at all.
Just then, the private room door opened, and a woman walked out.
Seeing Jiang Yu Xin, she immediately complained, “Why are you only coming now? Everyone’s been waiting for you for a long time.”
“Sorry, Sister Zhuang Min. I didn’t notice the time.” Jiang Yu Xin lowered her head, looking pitiful.
Seeing her like this made Zhuang Min secretly delighted. So what if she was pretty? She still looked like a pushover who needed to be bullied.
“Let’s go in. It’s just for fun; no need to give her a good face,” Zhang Qian interrupted.
“Who are you…” Zhuang Min impatiently turned her head, but the scolding words stuck in her throat. “Zhang Qian? You’re here too.”
She looked him up and down and secretly nodded. Long time no see, and this guy was still so handsome. She wondered how Jiang Yu Xin had hooked up with him.
“You two go in. Brother Jun is treating today; dishes will be served soon.”
Zhang Qian ignored her and pushed the door to go in.
Two large round tables were already seated with quite a few people, both men and women, though overall there were a bit more guys.
Zhang Qian scanned the room and casually picked a seat to sit down. Yu Xin asked the girl next to him, “Tong Tong, can we switch seats? I want to sit with Zhang Qian.”
The girl who had been playing on her mobile phone looked up in surprise, glanced at her then at Zhang Qian, and politely refused, “I want to sit with my friend.”
Yu Xin immediately looked at Zhang Qian pitifully.
“I’m not going to chase someone else away, right? It’s just a meal; don’t be picky. There are empty seats over there. Let’s eat first.”
“QAQ”
“…After the meal, I’ll treat you to a movie.”
“Yay!”
The other classmates also noticed the last two to enter and started discussing animatedly.
“Damn, is that really Jiang Yu Xin? Such a huge change.”
“Tsk tsk tsk, those legs. Forget licking; even just smelling the foot odor would extend my lifespan…”
“Otherwise, why do you think Brother Jun is being so generous to hold a gathering at such a high-end place? You don’t think he really has that much face, do you?”
Fang Jun held his wine glass and smiled without speaking. This top-quality girl—if he couldn’t trick her while she was still naive, there’d be no chance later.
He stood up and called out, “Jiang classmate, there’s a seat here. Come sit with Zhuang Min.”
Soon, dishes started being served.
At the dinner table, some chatted about everything under the sun, some built relationships, and some who had hit it off quietly arranged nighttime activities.
Zhang Qian was just a simple rice gobbler.
It was just that he was a bit uncomfortable too, because the dishes at this restaurant were too weird—not bad tasting, but very strange.
What kind of person could come up with this menu? Abalone twice-cooked pork, spicy salmon, wagyu Dongpo meat…
Was this what innovative cuisine meant?
Zhang Qian grumbled inwardly, trying to find some more normal dishes.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yu Xin on the other side felt a bit bored. This classmate gathering was just to openly ask Zhang Qian out, but he didn’t appreciate it and preferred sitting with strangers.
Once again rejecting a man who came over to toast and fawn, she lowered her head and boredly scrolled through the Supernatural Forum.
Seeing classmate after classmate fail in front of Jiang Yu Xin, Fang Jun’s lips curved into a confident smile.
A bunch of losers who couldn’t even pick up girls. It was up to him.
He gave his lackey a look, and the guy who had just praised his generosity immediately got it and asked, “I’ve never eaten at such a high-end place before. How much does a table of such high-end meal cost?”
The voice wasn’t loud, but just enough for everyone to hear clearly.
The others perked up their ears curiously upon hearing it.
Fang Jun saw this and knew his purpose was achieved. He waved his hand and said, “Small money. We’re all friends; how much can a meal cost?”
He really hadn’t spent much; the two tables of meal together were only a few thousand, but the place was upscale enough and looked impressive enough.
