Chapter 40: The Crying Child Gets The Milk
“Hiss—Brother Jun is so generous. I’ll toast to Brother Jun.” The underling cooperated with a sigh of admiration, then raised his glass and stood up.
Fang Jun naturally accepted gladly and also stood up to clink glasses lightly with him.
One cup wasn’t enough; the underling called out again, “Let’s all toast to Brother Jun together, thanking him for providing this chance to gather. How about it?”
“Good.”
“No problem.”
Everyone agreed and stood up, raising their glasses to toast Fang Jun.
Zhang Qian didn’t act special either and drank a cup along with everyone.
The boys drank baijiu and beer, the girls drank red wine, and as for Zhang Qian, he drank cola.
Looking at the crowd toasting him, Fang Jun felt secretly pleased inside. In the past, no one in the class thought much of him, but now weren’t they toasting him and calling him Brother Jun?
His obese face was full of a confident smile, thinking this wave of showing off had gone pretty well.
Downing the wine in his glass in one go, Fang Jun gestured for everyone to sit down and began sharing his life insights.
“Back when I was studying, my grades were poor, and I thought that was it for my life, but unexpectedly I still managed to make something of myself.”
The underling nodded cooperatively. “Now it seems skipping school was fine. Our Brother Jun can still make big money relying on his own strength without studying.”
Fang Jun waved his hand. “Nah, you still have to work steadily. Right now I’m just helping out behind my uncle, can’t really call it making big money.”
These words were naturally hinting that his uncle was no ordinary man, but coming from him, it lost some flavor.
Luckily, someone was hooked and asked proactively, “Brother Jun, what does your uncle do? Where does he work?”
“Hehe, my uncle was just promoted to manager of Fugui Restaurant, which counts as being favored by the big boss.” Fang Jun was somewhat proud.
Fugui Restaurant, one of the best hotels in the city—becoming manager meant a ton of hidden income, and he had gotten plenty of benefits following behind his uncle.
He casually shook his wrist again, revealing a shiny watch.
“Tsk tsk tsk, Brother Jun, if I’m not mistaken, this seems to be a Rolex, right?” the underling said in some surprise. “I’ve only heard of such high-end stuff online before.”
“Eh, nothing to mention, just the most basic model.” Fang Jun pretended not to want to show off and hid the watch back in his sleeve.
Some knowledgeable classmates said enviously, “Even the entry-level model costs tens of thousands, right? Brother Jun really made it big.”
“No more of that, drink up!” Fang Jun pretended to be magnanimous, but inside he was blooming with joy.
A knockoff watch bought for two or three thousand—though it couldn’t fool experts, it was enough to impress these classmates who hadn’t entered society yet.
With a surface price of tens of thousands, it was enough for several years of living expenses for an ordinary college student—an astronomical figure for them now.
A few female classmates had spring water in their eyes, itching to fly to Fang Jun’s side and seek some success experience.
After three rounds of drinks, the meal was about to end.
The classmates found people they were interested in and started chatting in twos and threes.
Fang Jun was naturally a hot topic, but his mind wasn’t on these classmates. While dealing with the female classmates around him, he cast greasy eyes toward Jiang Yu Xin.
These ordinary ones couldn’t pique his interest; his target from start to finish was only Jiang Yu Xin. Or adding Zhuang Min wouldn’t be bad either—though a bit money-obsessed, her figure was still very attractive.
Maybe Tong Tong and Qingqing could be added too…
Fang Jun was fantasizing in his heart but didn’t notice Zhuang Min ditching him and heading straight for Zhang Qian.
“Zhang Qian, long time no see. Let’s add each other as contacts?” Zhuang Min leaned down, showing off her most perfect side.
A nouveau riche ugly ghost like Fang Jun couldn’t attract her; she still preferred a low-key tall, rich, and handsome guy like Zhang Qian.
Just this Kiton shirt—wasn’t it way more high-class than a Rolex of unknown authenticity?
She just didn’t know why Zhang Qian had been so low-key before, but it wasn’t too late to latch on now.
“No, he won’t add.”
Before Zhang Qian could respond, an icy cold voice came from behind Zhuang Min, and a fair palm rested on Zhuang Min’s shoulder.
Zhuang Min’s smile stiffened on her face; she really wanted to mock what Jiang Yu Xin thought she was.
But considering her image, she just said sarcastically, “What’s wrong with classmates adding contacts? You’re not Zhang Qian’s girlfriend yet, right? Managing things so broadly now—who knows what you’ll be like later.”
Normally, Yu Xin might pretend to be pitiful to gain Zhang Qian’s sympathy.
But now, she just repeated icily, “I said, he won’t add.”
At the same time, slender fingers quietly pressed into the gap between Zhuang Min’s shoulder blades, the strength gradually increasing.
Zhuang Min wanted to speak but was startled by the sudden pain. “Ah… let go!”
Jiang Yu Xin turned a deaf ear, a flash of killing intent and pleasure in her eyes.
“I really don’t plan to add her. Let go first.” Zhang Qian gently patted Jiang Yu Xin, awakening her consciousness.
He casually held Jiang Yu Xin’s hand and quietly sent in a wisp of true qi.
No supernatural power… was it an illusion?
“Any discomfort lately?” Zhang Qian said seriously.
“My period ended the day before yesterday…” Yu Xin seemed to return to normal, saying somewhat shyly, “I’m ready anytime…”
“Jiang Yu Xin, are you crazy?!” Zhuang Min suddenly shouted loudly.
She yelled while exaggeratedly rubbing her shoulder. “Using so much strength—are you trying to take my life?”
Seeing others’ gazes drawn over, Zhuang Min felt smug inside. “Hehehe, daring to flirt with the catch I have my eye on right in front of me? Dream on!”
Taking advantage of the classmates’ attention gathering, Zhuang Min unhesitatingly exposed Yu Xin’s wound.
“Oh my, now that you’re pretty, you don’t recognize me this big sister anymore? Wonder what your second sister and Third Sister would think if they knew?”
The provocation full of gunpowder made the male classmates nearby excited.
Don’t just talk—fight! Pull hair, tear clothes, give the brothers some benefit, okay?
Yu Xin seemed scared by these words and burrowed into Zhang Qian’s arms.
Zhuang Min raised her head proudly, wanting to see submission on Jiang Yu Xin’s face and find that shadow of the girl she used to beat and scold at will.
But instead, she saw… a trace of mockery?
At this moment, Yu Xin was curled up trembling in Zhang Qian’s arms, like a startled rabbit seeking comfort.
Zhang Qian stroked her head and said seriously to Zhuang Min, “I suggest you shut up.”
Hearing this, the smile at the corner of Yu Xin’s mouth grew even more.
“She…” Zhuang Min anxiously wanted to point out that Jiang Yu Xin was a white-cut-black scheming monster.
But before she could speak, Fang Jun’s loud voice interrupted, “We’re all classmates—what’s with the fuss? Zhuang Min was just joking. Zhang Qian, why be so fierce?”
If he didn’t make a move soon, the spotlight would be stolen by this guy Zhang Qian.
