Chapter 88: Closest To Death
Thinking about having to hide for an entire month gave Yoru a headache.
A high-pitched dog bark echoed through the rainy night.
The Split Dog was coming.
Yoru pretended to ask Aries, “What happened!”
Aries hurriedly said:
“Three Leaf Ninjas are carrying three prisoners, one of whom is a child, running toward here.
Behind the Leaf Ninjas is a Large Summoning Beast, the former village-guarding Summoning Beast of Hidden Whirlpool Village, the Split Dog.”
Yoru didn’t have much time left.
Uchiha Madara was in a cave several kilometers behind.
If he faced Uchiha Madara again, Uchiha Madara had a hundred ways to kill him.
“Go! No matter who from Konoha it is, we can’t stand by.”
Yoru wanted to save Nagato Uzumaki but didn’t want to face Uchiha Madara; the best way was to intercept Nagato Uzumaki as soon as possible.

After a few clashes, Purple Cat immediately spotted the key: “They’re protecting the prisoners behind them!”
The three treated the prisoners as more important than their own lives.
Yoru and the Split Dog’s fight looked intense, with Water Style shooting into the sky one moment and Earth Spears like a dense forest of Thorns the next, but in reality, most of their attacks missed each other.
Taking advantage of the Water Style to conceal his figure, Yoru signaled to Yuka Uzumaki to hurry away.
Yuka Uzumaki trusted the Fox immensely and didn’t do anything unnecessary; she simply commanded the Split Dog to leave.
After the Split Dog left, Yoru arrived at the rear battlefield.
He came to Aries’s side and asked, “Aries, can you tell what Genjutsu it is?”
Aries said:
“I can’t tell what Genjutsu it is. Most Genjutsu have fixed effects, either binding or Hypnosis.
This Genjutsu on the three seems more like directly using Dojutsu to create strong psychological suggestions, forcing the three Leaf Ninjas to achieve a certain goal.
From how they’re protecting the prisoners even at the cost of injury, the suggestion of the Genjutsu is to transport the prisoners.”
They couldn’t waste time; they were too close to Uchiha Madara here.
Yoru looked at Nagato Uzumaki. As long as he snatched Nagato Uzumaki and got far from Uchiha Madara, there might be a slim chance of survival.
If he could snatch Nagato Uzumaki here, Uchiha Madara’s Rinnegan would rot in his eye sockets, and the Ninja World would end early!
Yoru rushed toward Nagato Uzumaki. He shouted to the Yagura Squad beside Nagato Uzumaki, “Help me hold them off! I’ll deal with them!”
“Got it! Squad Leader!”

“Captain!”

Hearing the wind-cutting sound behind him, Yoru instinctively shifted sideways to dodge.
That crucial half-step saved his life.
Yoru looked down and was stunned to see the tip of the Ninja Sword protruding from his left shoulder!
Adrenaline surged; he felt no pain, only an abnormally scorching heat at his left shoulder.
He hurriedly formed hand seals, releasing the only Ninjutsu that could attack behind him: Earth Spear.
Two Earth Spears thrust out, piercing the Yagura behind him.
At the same time, Purple Cat used her mind-body switch Secret Jutsu and discovered two souls in Yagura’s brain!
A hundred miles away, Kato Dan suddenly woke up in the cave.
