Chapter 38: Who Fired The Shot?
Battle space, ruined city.
As the final whistle suddenly rang out, everyone watching in front of the big screen fell silent.
Even the entire first floor lobby of the club became incomparably quiet at this moment.
“What the hell is this?”
“Lost! Blood Flame Spear Princess actually lost!”
“A regular top 4 in the nation lost!”
Everyone stared at the blue mecha that had already lost its head, and only after several seconds of silence did a wave-like roar of cheers erupt. The sound was so loud it even spread out of the club, startling the people passing by on the street.
“Captain Li is awesome!”
“As expected of the man who could defeat Blood Flame Spear Princess in the individual tournament. Now at the national competition, who would dare look down on our Storm Shadow Team!”
“That senior brother piloting the ranged mecha was amazing too. From five kilometers away, that triple micro-operation move was still that accurate.”
At this moment, the members of Storm Shadow were all going wild. Looking at those two red mechas on the big screen, their eyes were full of worship and excitement.
Blue Enchantress, as a regular top 4 in the nation at the national competition, had only three teams capable of defeating them, but from today on, there would be a fourth.
Although this was only a simulation match and would not be recorded in the league results, this moment was already worthy of being written into the history of the Storm Shadow Club.
“Well done!”
“Their cooperation was simply perfect.”
“Hahaha, this time at the national competition, it’s finally our Storm Shadow’s turn to shine.”
“Ranxing really is a good captain. I don’t know where he found that newcomer. Triple micro-operation, that level of shooting technique, and that bizarre movement style. That strength is probably already catching up to Ranxing. That means, from now on, our Storm Shadow Club will be a twin star.”
The coaches from the coaching staff looked at Blue Enchantress, who had voluntarily conceded, and their backs seemed to straighten quite a bit. They were already planning to have a few extra drinks in celebration when they got home today.
But inside the battle space, Li Ranxing was completely dumbfounded.
“Dead?”
“What on earth happened?”
Li Ranxing looked at the dissipating blue mecha, utterly confused.
He and Chen Ya had clearly been evenly matched just now, but for some reason, three bullets suddenly shot toward Chen Ya, and Chen Ya could only use the divine skill Eight Leaves One Slash.
The result was that Chen Ya failed to block, got hit by a single shot, and then their team inexplicably won.
This result really exceeded his expectations.
First floor lobby of the club.
“During that last battle, which one of you fired those shots?”
“Speak!”
“Tell me, and I promise I’ll only beat you half to death!”
At this moment, Chen Ya jumped out of the virtual game pod, her star-like eyes burning completely with rage, staring fixedly at the six members of Blue Enchantress.
What a joke.
She had persuaded the club to have this simulation match with Storm Shadow specifically to defeat Li Ranxing and wash away her previous humiliation, but ended up being taken out by someone’s sneaky shot.
That triple micro-operation was played way too smoothly.
She had not even known there was such a sneaky bastard among her teammates, directly ruining all of her plans.
“Captain, do you think it’s possible those three shots came from the other side?” Wang Yi Dao raised his hand and said. “And not from any of us.”
“You think I’m stupid? You think someone from Storm Shadow could use triple micro-operation?” Chen Ya could not help cursing.
Triple micro-operation demands extremely strict reaction speed and control of the body. Anyone who can master it is generally a captain-level expert at top 16 in the nation.
How could an expert with strength on par with a top 16 captain possibly join the Storm Shadow Club? If such an expert really had joined, the news would have spread through the whole scene long ago.
As for a newcomer using triple micro-operation, it was not impossible, but as the one who experienced it firsthand, Chen Ya could clearly feel how deviously that person played. The timing was precise to the fraction of a second, and the firing angle happened to be right behind Li Ranxing, where the muzzle flash could not be seen at all.
Someone that devious definitely would not be some green young rookie capable of such things.
“Captain, I can vouch for this,” Zi Lan stepped forward and said. “While you were fighting, Knife and I were working together against a master piloting a ranged mecha. That person kept using triple micro-operation, and then Knife and I both got taken out.”
“You two together still lost?” When Chen Ya heard this, she was shocked.
Wang Yi Dao and Zi Lan were both top-tier first-class experts in the scene. They were just a bit short of reaching triple micro-operation level. At most, with another year of training, they would get there.
With one at range and one in melee cooperating, even against a master of triple micro-operation, they should at least be able to manage an extreme one-for-one trade.
“Yeah, I don’t know how he did it. He brute-forced that ranged mecha until it was as fast as a melee mecha,” Wang Yi Dao explained. “As soon as I got close, he pulled the distance open. Then to increase speed, I threw away my shield. In that split second, he did a mid-air leap plus triple micro-operation, and I had no time to react at all.”
“Above first-class, then?” Chen Ya fell into thought, her gaze locking straight onto Li Ranxing, who had just come out of the game pod. She shouted, “Captain Li, impressive. You’ve given me quite the surprise here. Could you let me meet that expert?”
“Expert? Do we have an expert on our side?” Li Ranxing looked at Chen Ya in confusion.
Those three bullets were utterly baffling, but Li Ranxing knew very well that they were shot with triple micro-operation technique. That kind of technique was simply beyond the members of Storm Shadow. Only members of Blue Enchantress might be able to pull that off.
“Ranxing, you don’t have to hide it anymore. Which newcomer in our club is it?” Several coaches from the coaching staff were also full of curiosity.
“I really don’t know,” Li Ranxing said helplessly.
“Unwilling to talk?” Chen Ya frowned, then walked straight toward the only Storm Shadow game pod whose occupant had not yet come out. “Get out here and let me see you. Weren’t those shots nice and smooth just now?”
The Storm Shadow side’s game pod slowly opened. Everyone present looked over in unison, curious which newcomer was about to rise.
“Fang Zhen?”
“How is it you?”
“Where did that newcomer go?”
The members of Storm Shadow watched as a stubbly middle-aged man walked out of the game pod. Each of their jaws dropped wide enough to fit two eggs. The starting players who knew Fang Zhen well looked as if they had just seen a ghost.
Triple micro-operation.
That bizarre acceleration technique.
And a four-kill against Blue Enchantress in a single battle, one of them being Blood Flame Spear Princess Chen Ya. Results this glorious would be archived as a classic case even in the national competition on Mecha Continent.
No matter how you looked at it, this should not have been something that a soon-to-retire Fang Zhen could achieve.
