Chapter 150: Starting To Craft The Mosquito Net
Another camp on the Parallel Road.
Outside the tent, crackling sounds came from the campfire. Several people sat around it, watching messages flash by on the Public Screen.
“Guess how long it will take for some fool to take the bait?” Ye Wuyou raised an eyebrow.
The anonymous message was sent by him. When they got this card, they thought it would be a pity not to use it for fun.
He could also grab an achievement along the way.
This thing won’t kill anyone, just causes dizziness, nausea, and numb mouth, with a duration of 24 hours.
Don’t ask how he knows; he discovered it while looting. He got hit just by touching it.
They cursed the other side out on the spot—stupid crap, even in death it leaves a trap!
Then the instance ended, and an Anonymous Card came out of the Blind Box.
“As long as they see this thing, they won’t be able to resist. Just wait and see.” The lean young man smiled; he was Sicily.
“There will always be fools who take the bait.” A flash of anticipation crossed the slightly chubby man’s face—Little Orange Cat.
He changed his nickname just to see Sicily pretending to be a woman; it got him a lot of supplies. That’s when he thought of trying it himself.
Female players are soft-hearted, and male players are easy to fool too—send a leg photo, say a few words like “brother you’re so awesome,” and they fall for it. This method really works; they even got the “Fraud Master” achievement.
——
At 12 o’clock, Lightning Mage King took over the night watch shift.
Yu Jiang climbed into bed to sleep and woke up at 6:40 the next morning. Her teammates were each doing their pre-departure preparations.
Today’s temperature: -20, northwest wind level 4.
A bit further ahead, and it would be above zero. Having gotten used to over -50 degrees extreme cold, -20 degrees actually felt nice.
They set off at 8 o’clock. Around 10 o’clock, sunlight broke through the clouds, and later on, the temperature rose one or two degrees every few kilometers forward.
There was less and less snow on the road, the team’s efficiency picked up, and Yu Jiang had already taken off her Fleece Clothing. Today she wore a set of Wool Warm Clothing and Hiking Pants, plus a long Down Jacket—that was enough.
The RV used Warm Air Incense, so no need to go out; even the Down Jacket could be skipped.
With less load on her body, Yu Jiang felt her movements more agile. She opened a box and kicked the monster inside flying with one foot—clean and efficient.
The monsters were useless; they took the boxes. One Iron Box could randomly decompose into 3-5 Iron Blocks.
Over the next 150km, the season changed from midwinter to late spring chill. Air humidity hadn’t changed much.
Players on the Public Screen were all talking about shedding cold-proof equipment while moving. On the Trading Platform, cold-proof supplies that had been jacked up before were now dropping in price.
Players with lots of hoarded goods were starting to hawk them on the Public Screen, and Sicily was one of them.
Nine Nine Return One: [LOL, these unscrupulous merchants are starting to panic? And Sicily the dead sissy—two days ago he sold me a Down Vest stained with Zombie Blood for 150 Crystal Coins, now down to 50.]
Great Luck Chariot God: [Karma’s a bitch. A few days ago these showoffs were all high and mighty, today they’re wilted? Heard the temperature rises to around -10 degrees at 400km. Finally got some payback—don’t drop prices if you’ve got the guts!]
skr and stop: [Level 3 Water Collector. I traded it before for an ugly old Down Jacket. Serves them right that cold-proof supplies aren’t selling today!]
Quite a few players who’d been ripped off at high prices were cheering on the Public Screen. A few who were selling at discounts argued back unconvinced.
Sicily: [Idiots, can’t you see I’m only discounting worn-out clothing to clear Storage Space? Can you guarantee it won’t cool down again? Don’t come begging nicely for supplies then.
You don’t think I haven’t hoarded other supplies, do you? Even at discount, my Wealth Value is way higher than yours. I just love seeing you pissed off and helpless—losers.]
Sicily had dropped the pretense entirely now. His team’s strength was decent, and he really wasn’t afraid of retaliation with Tracking Cards, so he dared to be so provocative.
Most people didn’t dare mess with Leaderboard Players. Great Luck Chariot God and Nine Nine Return One had some strength too, so the two sides collided and started hurling insults.
At 1 PM, 500km ended, temperature showing -3 to 2 degrees.
No snow visible on the road anymore, just damp cold air. Withered Yellow Weeds had turned into lush vegetation.
Yu Jiang and her team had discussed it: disband the team, each return to their own Personal Road. This was the time when supply acquisition probability was increasing; they needed to grab the supplies on their Personal Roads.
Going separately was more worthwhile; everyone could improve freely without holding back.
On the same Parallel Road at the same time, there were only so many supplies total. Traveling together meant splitting them.
If they ran into unsolvable problems, they could still team up for support in the Team Channel.
Yu Jiang returned to her Personal Road, parked first, and carefully observed the surroundings. The road cut through a Dense Forest; the extreme cold was past, but this felt even more dangerous.
Zero visibility on both sides—herbs, Shrubs, Deciduous Trees in distinct layers. Dangers wouldn’t be visible until they were right up close.
Sunlight could still penetrate now, but further ahead, Yu Jiang’s intuition told her the plants would get even denser.
Rainforest—two words popped into her head.
Places like this had all sorts of dangerous creatures.
Gathering difficulty had increased too; she had to venture into the Dense Forests on both sides of the road to find supplies.
Yu Jiang took out the Crafting Bench and started crafting Mosquito Nets.
Today’s mileage was already over 150km; no rush to move forward. Getting equipment sorted first felt safer.
Mosquito Net crafting raw materials: main material is Nylon Mesh or Diamond Wire Mesh.
The latter was tougher and more durable but harder to craft. Yu Jiang didn’t have Diamond Wire Mesh, and hadn’t seen it on the Trading Platform.
Someone was selling High-density Nylon Mesh at a good price now—fifty or sixty Crystal Coins per roll. Buying in bulk could probably negotiate lower.
Yu Jiang directly had Purple Butt Can Do It go collect it. He took one look at the seller’s nickname and said it was a Merchant Caravan player who could negotiate; they could cooperate on making Mosquito Nets.
Both sides hit it off. Yu Jiang took 30% Processing Fee; the Merchant Caravan provided materials. First equip both teams with Mosquito Nets; how they split internally was not Yu Jiang’s concern.
The player providing Nylon Mesh was happy too. He did weaving and clothing making; after unlocking Nylon Mesh manufacturing, the temperature drop hit, and who would add Screen Curtains to vehicles? The stuff wasn’t selling.
Finally someone wanted it today—a big order!
He first sent the stock to Purple Butt Can Do It, saying the rest would be delivered later as agreed.
Yu Jiang got busy as soon as the materials arrived. Had to say, cooperating with a Merchant Team was really convenient.
Different vehicle levels required different amounts. The Merchant Caravan sent several types of materials via Purple Butt Can Do It, with shares pre-portioned. Processing Fees sent separately—she didn’t need to worry about anything, just craft.
First make the ones for the RV, then split the remaining half: half to her own team for teammates who’d run the full 500km to install, the other half to the Merchant Caravan.
The rest to be crafted over several days; Fatigue Value wouldn’t allow doing it all at once.
Insect Bite Paste Scroll was provided by Shi Xu. Yu Jiang first sent him two sets of Level 5 Vehicle universal Mosquito Nets as thanks.
Distribute the Ointment after it’s made.
