Chapter 23: Weapon Delivered To The Door
Until the afternoon, past 4 o’clock, the sky grew dark and overcast, the wind blowing so fiercely that people could barely stand, the entire road shrouded in a desolate and cold atmosphere.
Yu Jiang successively spotted two Abandoned Vehicles, sighed with emotion, thanked the road for its gift, and got out of the car with the Crowbar in hand.
Everything that could be taken from the vehicles had been taken, and the Window Glass was all smashed.
She hadn’t expected there to be anything left inside anyway; she got out only with the idea of damaging the Health Bar to recover some Materials.
Scavenging, she was a professional!
Then Yu Jiang gathered Ginseng nearby, and a bit further ahead there was also Immortal Crane Grass and Great Burdock, pushing the Illustrated Guide directly to 88%!

[Intermediate Illustrated Guide has been unlocked. Player has met the conditions to Level Up Skill and can choose one of the following two directions:
A, Healing Light: Restores 10 Health Points to the target.
B, Upgrade Poison Rain, damage increased to 20 points, inflicts 10 minutes of Bleeding status, losing 1 Health Point per minute.]
Of course, upgrade Poison Rain!
She had already taken the Poison Master Path; choosing a Healing Skill that only adds 10 Health Points now was not as good as focusing on one route first.
Poison Rain Upgrade requirements: Mutated Snake Venom*20, Aconite*5, Mutated Spider Toxin*25
Yu Jiang fell silent.
Her eyes darkened again and again.
Aconite could still be gathered, but the other two Materials required way too many; she didn’t even know where to find Spider Venom.
No one had mentioned this thing so far.
Yu Jiang sighed, got back in the car, and continued forward. This was the Parallel Road; it was best to drive out before 6 o’clock when it got dark.
Not sure if it was a coincidence, but she always felt there were more Resources on the Parallel Road.
As she was thinking, a Tricycle lying on the road appeared in front of her.
Yu Jiang was about to get out to recover it, but as she got closer, she realized it wasn’t an Abandoned Vehicle; there was also a person crouching beside it.
It looked like a woman in her late twenties; her Vehicle seemed to have broken down, and her leg was pinned. Seeing a car approaching, she waved desperately for help.
Yu Jiang rolled down the window halfway, a bit hesitant—better safe than sorry.
“What’s going on?” she asked.
“The wind was too strong earlier. To Dodge another Vehicle, I accidentally flipped the car, and my leg seems injured.”
The woman was soaked through, struggling hard to get up, her pleading eyes looking toward the inside of the car.
“Did you see two Abandoned Cars on the road when you came?” Yu Jiang asked again.
The woman seemed not to react at first, wondering why she would ask that, “Yes, I saw there was nothing inside and left.”
“I’m pinned and can’t move, and I have no Weapon in hand. Help me! I can give you two loaves of Bread as Reward; I don’t have more.”
Yu Jiang couldn’t tell if the other was acting, so she decided to play along too, pretending to fully believe her as she walked over.
She already had the ‘Unknown Thorny Plant’ in hand. The Weakness BUFF only worked once, but this thing was tough; even a knife could hardly cut it.
“Thank you, thank you so much!” The woman was full of joy, but a flash of viciousness quickly passed through her eyes.
Her Profession was ‘Robber’, ranked eighth in the previous Instance Game Area, an Achievement from robbing the Wishing Star.
However, just as she was about to make her move, Yu Jiang didn’t approach to lift the Tricycle as expected.
Instead, she circled around first and said seriously, “I can’t lift this car by myself. How about waiting a bit longer? When the next person comes, I’ll lift it with them.”
The woman’s expression froze for a moment, but she quickly covered it up,
“No need, this car isn’t very heavy. It’s fine. You just need to come over and give me a little help.”
Yu Jiang seemed hesitant and afraid to get hands-on, but when she lowered her eyes, her gaze had changed.
Something’s wrong.
In this place, with her injured, how could she have no defenses against a stranger like her.
Thinking this, Yu Jiang walked over with a face full of apprehension, “Just so we’re clear, if it smashes you, don’t blame me.”
“Don’t worry, I’m not ungrateful.”
As the last few words were spoken, the woman’s tone suddenly changed. She instantly pulled out a gleaming rhomboid short Bayonet and lunged at Yu Jiang, her movements so ruthless—where was the look of someone needing help.
Yu Jiang had been guarding against her. As she flipped over, Yu Jiang swung the Thorny Branch tied with a Stone at her.
Who was she kidding? Knowing the other had a problem, would she still get close before acting?
If she were even a bit slower, she’d get stabbed; that knife looked vicious!
Attack Range advantage does not lie!
The woman clutched her head and screamed in pain. Taking advantage of her agony, Yu Jiang applied Hallucinogenic Medicine, then snatched her Bayonet and stabbed it toward her neck.
What Yu Jiang didn’t expect was that this person’s Combat Stats were very high, at least her Defense was good. The knife had just pierced the Skin when the Dizzy effect wore off.
The woman reacted quickly too, immediately raising her hand to block the vital spot. The Bayonet only stabbed into her arm, then Yu Jiang followed with a Poison Needle, giving her a Paralysis BUFF.
In an instant, her on-the-ground Roll to escape Yu Jiang’s Attack Range was like a jammed tape—strenuous and awkward.
The woman widened her eyes, watching Yu Jiang chase her with the knife stabbing down, hearing the reminder of dropping Health Points, and gritted her teeth cursing, “Your dad’s!”
Even taking her knife only dealt 30 damage; her Attack wasn’t high, yet she had so many debuffs?!
The woman decisively pulled out her ultimate Protective Shield. Yu Jiang’s next stab didn’t land; she was bounced back by the transparent light shield, her hand going numb.
This person wasn’t bad either, having such an advanced Defensive Item.
“Pretty good at acting.” When the woman looked up again, her face had completely changed, “Stronger than those two wastes before.”
“You have no chance to kill me now. Let’s both take a step back. Give me the medicine you just used and my knife, and we’ll pretend nothing happened.”
Yu Jiang quickly analyzed the situation. What step back? She was just afraid Yu Jiang had more tricks, so bluff first and look for an opportunity.
The other was now guarded against her, no more first-mover advantage. Yu Jiang decisively swung the Thorny Branch, smashing the Stone toward the other’s headlights and Front Windshield.
Tricycle Wear and Tear +5
Seeing this, the woman quickly returned to her Vehicle, extending the Shield’s Coverage over it.
“Still want to smash my car? In your dreams!” The woman sneered.
Her Vehicle looked like a fragile little Tricycle, but the frame had been Modified with high Defense added.
“Just testing if this thing can protect the Vehicle.” Yu Jiang shrugged, retreating while getting in the car.
She hadn’t closed the door when she got out earlier, so she could return to the Driver’s Seat this quickly.
Yu Jiang floored the accelerator, ramming into her along with the car and Protective Shield. A Level 3 Vehicle was just that tough! If it didn’t break through, she could run later.
Electric Pickup Truck Shield -5%, Wear and Tear +5
Cracks also appeared on the Protective Shield.
