Chapter 34: And You, My Friend, Are The Real Deal
Yu Jiang didn’t stand on ceremony with him either, found a small plastic preservation box and sent it over,
“Small portion is fine, thanks.”
“Got it!” After a few seconds, Sad Pig Intestine sent over the preservation box along with the noodle soup.
The broth was clear, the fresh scent of wild vegetables mixed with the steam instantly wafting out, along with noodle sheets that looked chewy at first glance.
Yu Jiang had just eaten a bowl of fried rice earlier, but she still couldn’t resist finishing the small portion of noodle soup.
After arriving in the survival game, she generally wouldn’t eat too full to avoid affecting her mobility, but she could relax a bit in the service area.
Now full, it was perfect to go out for a stroll.
With Sad Pig Intestine here, Han Jiang Gu Ying was definitely around too.
Yu Jiang didn’t ask for location or info in the friend group, nor mention meeting up.
Except for 28-bar Bicycle and Kuang Kuang Kuang, she hadn’t met any other friends.
For now, everyone was just chatting in the friend channel and doing mutual benefit trades; they might not necessarily want to meet and expose their own info.
Yu Jiang truly had no experience maintaining a team, so she gave Han Jiang Gu Ying permission to recruit people in the channel.
Nothing else to say, he was pretty reliable in handling things and had strength too.
The earliest X she knew wasn’t unreliable; it was just that he was too busy grinding to manage other things.
Just as she was thinking that, a message notification came.
“Little Drill Wind bro, you’re still in the service area, right?” Han Jiang Gu Ying asked.
“Here’s the thing, if you’re willing, shall we meet? Big Intestine and I totally admire you!”
Yu Jiang thought for a moment, “Sure, noodle soup stall, right? I’ll head over.”
To form a team, they had to meet eventually. Yu Jiang also wanted to take this opportunity to show her face first, so they could further assess each other on whether the other was trustworthy.
Yu Jiang slung on her backpack, locked the door and went downstairs. The parking spots behind the motel matched the number of rooms, and right now only two spots were empty.
Looking out, most vehicles were Level 2, a few Level 3, and some who started with vans or old-style small trucks.
The better the starting config, the harder to upgrade; it was normal they were still the same now.
Walking to the front non-accommodation parking area, vehicles of various colors and styles, all sorts, even a pumpkin carriage visible.
Unknown if powered by gas or electric, with lace curtains making it impossible to see inside.
Such a uniquely styled car inevitably drew eyes; everyone was curious about the bound player too.
Seeing a strong man get out, the person who had just confidently said the driver must be a girl instinctively looked at their own skinny arms and legs, expression stunned.
“Bro, your car looks pretty cool.”
It was him who had just said outside that surviving on the road was so lonely, add a friend for company.
The strong man looked at that sticker pack-like Halloween-style pumpkin carriage, nodded in agreement, “Yeah, that’s the car a real man should drive!”
This car was on par with Kuang Kuang Kuang’s rocker vehicle and Lightning Mage King’s cyber cat car.
Yu Jiang withdrew her gaze and walked to the noodle soup stall.
This was a two-door chopped chili fish head car; with the back opened and a folding table extended, it became a small stall.
The one cooking the noodle soup was a youth in his early thirties, dressed very cleanly.
Next to it, cardboard read: No haggling, cash on delivery for food!
There were still several people ahead queuing up.
“In the survival game, getting to eat such a hot bowl like this is pure bliss! Just a bit pricey.”
“Bro, add a friend; if there’s a chance later, we can team up!”
In the apocalypse, a cook who could make gourmet food from wild vegetables was undoubtedly popular.
Sad Pig Intestine only added the friend and politely declined teaming up; he’d been scammed before and didn’t dare casually trust others again.
Once the people around thinned out, Sad Pig Intestine had a sneaky thief-like expression as he quietly asked the buzzcut tough guy beside him.
“Why hasn’t Big Shot arrived yet? Is it that one, broad-backed and bear-waisted, full face of fierce meat, looks super imposing.”
“And that one on the left, skinny and wiry, also looks tough.”
Han Jiang Gu Ying suddenly looked up at his panel, “He sent a message.”
Yu Jiang: “Here.”
Han Jiang Gu Ying looked baffled as he peered ahead,
“Where? Am I blind? The one with the full beard? Or the one with the flower arm tattoo?”
Big Shot seemed a bit anxious about appearances.
Yu Jiang: “Is there a possibility it’s right in front.”
The two looked left and right, finally locking gazes ahead, both stunned at the same time.
There was a woman in somewhat dirty old clothes, with medium-long hair, fine soft fluffy texture, exceptionally pretty brows and eyes, fair skin, slender but not weak.
This was the Big Shot with 305 points, ranking first?
A girl?!
“Is it you? Little Drill Wind bro, oh no, Big Shot girl.” Han Jiang Gu Ying asked uncertainly.
Yu Jiang directly sent a message via friends, “It’s me.”
Sad Pig Intestine’s eyes widened in excitement, “It’s really Big Shot!!! Finally met the real deal!”
“If not for your healing potion last time, I’d have been done for injured with a bleeding buff!”
Yu Jiang smiled, “Hi.”
Han Jiang Gu Ying still hadn’t quite processed it; the Big Shot 100 points above him was actually the girl in front of him.
He relied on his trap-making skill, plus previous experience and physique from filming survival challenges on foreign isolated islands, to reach top ten in the entire zone.
This was also why he teamed with Pig Intestine; he could hunt prey, Pig Intestine could process it into gourmet food.
They had said once The King Called Me to Patrol the Mountain arrived, they could get some beer; now it was cola instead.
Sitting down for a brief chat, everyone was very measured, didn’t ask too much, just simply stated their professions.
Yu Jiang said alchemist, didn’t mention poison master.
Han Jiang Gu Ying was primary hunter, plus he’d hinted before that he could repair cars.
“Just missed by a bit; when I arrived, the service area auto repair shop had closed ten minutes earlier.” Han Jiang Gu Ying sighed deeply,
“Good thing you helped buy a spray for me, or I’d have gotten nothing.”
Little Drill Wind was someone you could vibe with; when she had good stuff, she really helped buy it instead of reselling at high price to rip them off.
That wild goose down jacket last time had real good windproof, waterproof, and warming effects; buying it was a steal!
“Right, Big Shot, what do you think about this instance?” Han Jiang Gu Ying got to the main topic.
“If we end up in the same group, we can cooperate.”
As for ranking, each on their own.
Yu Jiang knew her stats weren’t great-looking; last time area damage skill gave the advantage, this instance relied on speed for ranking, luck was pretty important too.
Like Han Jiang Gu Ying, he’d filmed survival challenges in the rainforest before, giving him advantage on this instance map.
This was something she couldn’t match; she’d do her best.
“That’s what I think too.” Han Jiang Gu Ying raised his cola, making a cheers motion forward,
“Do you have a healing skill? No other meaning, just wanna ask, if in the instance we need skill healing, what’s the price?”
He had Intermediate Healing Potion x1, Primary Healing Potion x4, totaling 70 health points.
But after all, it was an unknown instance, so a bit worried.
He’d seen on public screen other alchemist healers charging high prices.
Yu Jiang’s lips pursed slightly, sincerely saying, “To be honest, I haven’t gotten a healing skill yet.”
She, a poison master who needed to attack, what did she need a healing skill for? Go up with positioning and throw debuffs, that was the way!
Han Jiang Gu Ying looked impressed, “And you, my friend, you’re a true badass.”
No healing skill, just relying on 1-hour cooldown healing potions to score 305 points—what sheer bravery.
