Chapter 93: Conversation In The Dream
In that instant, even in the dream, Lu Jinzhao only felt as if her body had fallen into an ice cave.
She couldn’t move at all.
It was clearly a dream, and she hadn’t even felt like she had a body in the dream, yet she felt that the ghost had discovered her.
It had clearly seen her.
It had been staring at her all along.
What to do?
Should she run?
But she couldn’t move.
Why couldn’t she move in the dream?
Lu Jinzhao’s brain fell into chaos. She didn’t notice that her reason and calmness seemed to have been weakened by more than half in the dream, and even her thinking had become sluggish.
“I must run.”
She felt fear and coldness. She saw the ghost move, approaching her in an extremely weird, unnatural posture.
She couldn’t let it grab her.
Even though it didn’t look like a very strong ghost.
But if she got grabbed, it would be bad.
An indescribable sense of crisis enveloped Lu Jinzhao’s heart, but that sense of crisis also seemed separated by a layer of gauze, unable to directly wake her up at this moment.
The ghost approached bit by bit.
It slowly crawled out from the deepest part.
Lu Jinzhao couldn’t even see its full appearance clearly, only seeing a distorted human body.
Cold sweat soaked her body. Clearly in the dream, Lu Jinzhao actually smelled the rotten stench.
The ghost was already within arm’s reach.
It stretched out its deformed, twisted hand, grabbing toward Lu Jinzhao’s face.
At the critical moment, Lu Jinzhao felt a warm, human hand grab her shoulder, forcefully pulling her up from under the bed.
For some reason, she completely couldn’t control her body and fell into the embrace of the person who grabbed her.
Lu Jinzhao smelled a faint grassy scent.
She suddenly had a “body” again, her line of sight turning into a blurry mess, only able to see things extremely close by. Now, she could only see the clothes of the woman sitting on the bed.
It was she who had grabbed her.
But wasn’t this in the dream?
Lu Jinzhao’s brain couldn’t process it. Hadn’t she just been this woman?
Now, she was herself?
But dreams are always disordered, and Lu Jinzhao didn’t dwell on it.
She couldn’t really feel the sensation of the “embrace,” only feeling like a mass of nothingness was holding her. The woman seemed to be speaking, but Lu Jinzhao couldn’t hear clearly.
Her body was like it had lost its bones. She tried to stand up but couldn’t control it.
Thinking of the ghost under the bed, that this place was very dangerous, Lu Jinzhao became anxious and struggled to control her body in the dream, slowly spitting out the word “ghost.”
Then she heard a warm, gentle female voice asking her, “Are you a ghost?”
Lu Jinzhao suddenly felt speechless.
But she seemed to have turned into a babbling infant; she wanted to retort but couldn’t speak normally.
“Don’t worry, I was joking.” That voice said again.
Clearly it was the person beside her speaking, yet the sound seemed to come from the distant horizon, with a sense of unreality.
“What’s your name?” that person asked again.
Lu Jinzhao was very anxious; she couldn’t not be anxious. She didn’t understand why the woman still wanted to stay here—there was a ghost here; they should leave immediately!
But she couldn’t move.
Lu Jinzhao got a bit frustrated. After several failed attempts to control her body, she simply gave up and stopped moving.
“What’s wrong with you?” She heard the woman’s voice asking.
Lu Jinzhao didn’t speak, because she felt very fatigued; her body in the dream was weak and powerless, and even opening her mouth to speak was extremely strenuous.
“You still haven’t answered me. What’s your name?”
The woman persisted, and Lu Jinzhao sighed inwardly, not understanding what was going on with this dream.
She hadn’t planned to answer, but unexpectedly found her body moving on its own, making a sound.
“Lu Jinzhao, my name is Lu Jinzhao.”
See a ghost.
As soon as the words fell, the scene in front of her suddenly changed.
Lu Jinzhao became that woman again.
She was no longer in casual clothes but in a red wedding dress.
This dress was too bright red, red enough to make Lu Jinzhao feel discomfort.
Someone beside her was speaking, and this time, Lu Jinzhao finally heard clearly.
“Are you really going to do this?”
A male voice asked.
“Yes.” She nodded—it was Lu Jinzhao, and also this woman she was possessing.
“Is such a sacrifice really worth it?” Another female voice asked hesitantly.
Lu Jinzhao didn’t know what they were talking about; she only felt that the atmosphere at this moment was too solemn, and she didn’t hear the woman’s response because the next second, the scene switched again.
Darkness all around.
Nothing could be seen.
But Lu Jinzhao knew it wasn’t that she was blind; it was simply that this place was darkness.
This was an instinctive thought.
She also knew she was lying in some damp place.
Then, she heard a sound.
“This is a tomb.” It was the figure of that woman, the one Lu Jinzhao was possessing at this moment.
Was she explaining?
To whom?
Me?
Isn’t this in the dream?
Lu Jinzhao thought this, and the next second, she heard a voice with a hint of laughter.
“There’s nothing here except you and me.”
“Dream?”
“Are you dreaming now?”
Lu Jinzhao gasped.
The horrifying feeling made her brain somewhat numb; she hesitated for a long time, not knowing what to say.
What was the parchment doing?
Was this really just a nightmare?
Was it doing this on purpose?
Scaring her?
Lu Jinzhao’s thoughts were a jumbled mess.
Then, she heard the woman’s voice again: “Why are your emotions so complex?”
“What are you thinking?”
“I”—Lu Jinzhao tried to open her mouth and found she couldn’t speak.
She had turned into a state without a physical body again.
At this point, Lu Jinzhao first put away the jumbled thoughts in her mind and focused on the present. She thought that the woman had suddenly talked to her earlier—could she hear what she was thinking?
“A little.” The other party suddenly said.
See a ghost.
Didn’t she know this was scary?
Lu Jinzhao wanted to complain, and then she heard the woman apologize.
Too weird, this feeling of her inner thoughts being read.
“This is a tomb?” Lu Jinzhao asked inwardly.
“Yes.” The woman answered.
“Then what are you doing here?” Without even a light.
“I came here for death.” The woman’s tone was flat, still with that gentle appearance, but the words made Lu Jinzhao puzzled.
“Death? You came here to die?”
“That’s not wrong.” The woman smiled in affirmation.
“Why?” Lu Jinzhao asked.
“Well, that’s a bit hard to answer.” The woman said.
“Ah, it’s coming.” The woman’s warm voice carried a hint of sigh. In the darkness, several sharp wind sounds attacked, and the next moment, Lu Jinzhao felt a pain!
There were nails that pierced her—or rather, the woman’s body. Then, the smell of blood and soil poured down from above, the suffocation gradually coming on. Lu Jinzhao realized belatedly—this was live burial?!
The next moment, she abruptly woke from the dream.
Her body still seemed to retain that suffocation and the pain of being pierced; her face was pale, her brain buzzing.
She wondered who that was.
