Chapter 92: Back To The Selection Training Camp
The tearing pain in his arms cleared Chang Ning’s dazed mind. Currently, both his arms were twisted behind his back, so he didn’t dare struggle forcefully.
He had been unclear-headed earlier, but everything that happened was remembered in his mind, including the process of being ruthlessly suppressed by Gao Zhong Dui.
But now was not the time to discuss being dealt with by Gao Zhong Dui; there were more important things that needed to be solved.
As a bona fide transmigrator, Chang Ning had a guess about what happened to him, so his complexion was very bad now.
“Gao Zhong Dui, I’m okay now. Can you let me go? My arms hurt a lot.”
Chang Ning said with difficulty. After being ruthlessly beaten by Gao Zhong Dui, the pain in his body made it very strenuous for Chang Ning to even speak. Now, any exertion made his whole body feel like it was falling apart in pain.
“Kid, your knife skills are good, but your combat level is poor. What a waste of those knife skills.”
Seeing that Chang Ning was indeed fine, Gao Zhong Dui finally released Chang Ning, whom he had controlled with a reverse joint technique.
The restraint of his body being bound disappeared, and Chang Ning knew Gao Zhong Dui had let him go. He slowly stood up and moved his stiff joints.
Once his body had mostly recovered, Chang Ning turned back and saw Gao Zhong Dui’s appearance, nearly bursting out laughing.
Gao Zhong Dui’s training uniform was slashed with one cut after another, revealing glimpses of the green vest inside.
“Laugh if you want to, don’t hold it in. Who did you learn your knife skills from? No technique at all, but extremely useful and weirdly so!”
Gao Zhong Dui told him to laugh, but Chang Ning couldn’t laugh at all. Hearing him ask about his knife skills, Chang Ning immediately thought of the knife skills he had practiced cutting vegetables in the cookhouse before.
Besides this, there was nothing else on him related to knife skills.
If Chang Ning told Gao Zhong Dui that his knife skills were practiced in the cookhouse, probably no one would believe it. It didn’t make logical sense. According to Chang Ning, wouldn’t that mean every soldier working in the cookhouse had great knife skills.
“No one taught me. Earlier, when I wasn’t clear-headed, it was all subconscious behavior.”
Seeing that Chang Ning wouldn’t say, Gao Zhong Dui didn’t force him. His political review had passed, which meant Chang Ning himself was absolutely fine.
As long as he was loyal to the country, no one would proactively investigate Chang Ning’s secrets.
“Fine if you don’t say. I won’t ask.
But Chang Ning, you’re in trouble now.”
Gao Zhong Dui said seriously. He didn’t want to watch this good prospect Chang Ning be ruined by post-traumatic stress disorder, but this kind of psychological illness could only be treated with medication or by oneself. No matter how anxious he was, it was useless.
“Gao Zhong Dui, I know. Isn’t it just post-traumatic stress disorder?”
Chang Ning said pretending to be relaxed, but actually his heart was extremely bitter. He never imagined he might suffer from this disease.
‘Is my military career going to end like this?’
“It’s okay, we’re just guessing now. We’ll have to go back and see the test results for specifics.
Even if you have this illness, I don’t believe you can’t walk out of it yourself.”
Gao Zhong Dui’s age and life experience were there; how could he not see that Chang Ning was deliberately pretending to be relaxed, taking care of others’ emotions even in this state.
“No problem. Worst case, I’ll just discharge. I’m still young; I can go back to school.”
“Alright, we’ll talk about it when we get back.”
After the two had talked enough, Gao Zhong Dui took Chang Ning out of the dormitory, said goodbye to Captain Li and the others, then boarded the helicopter to return to the selection training camp.
On the airplane, Tong Youyou curiously looked at Chang Ning. This was her first meeting with Chang Ning, and her thesis would rely on him from now on.
“What were you and Gao Zhong Dui doing in the dormitory earlier? Why is Gao Zhong Dui’s clothes slashed all over?”
Tong Youyou asked. Actually, anyone could guess what happened in the dormitory. She said this just to find a topic to get to know Chang Ning. For her thesis, she needed to build a good relationship with her research subject.
Chang Ning had long noticed this beautiful woman in front of him. Whether in looks or figure, she was top-tier.
She was perfect everywhere, but the way she looked at him made him uncomfortable, like being dissected.
“Nothing much. Gao Zhong Dui was teaching me combat, and the clothes were torn by my dagger.”
Chang Ning answered Tong Youyou’s question in detail, his face full of a businesslike expression.
“Oh, like that.”
Seeing that Chang Ning had no desire to continue chatting, Tong Youyou didn’t press. She was at least a doctorate in medicine; her intelligence might not be top-tier but was within the normal range, so she could naturally tell Chang Ning didn’t want to talk to her.
In this situation, pressing further would only annoy him. For her thesis, Tong Youyou certainly wouldn’t pester. She was now part of Wolf Fang Special Forces Detachment too, and there would be plenty of chances to meet Chang Ning in the future. No need to make the relationship stiff now.
Besides, Tong Youyou didn’t believe that as a man, Chang Ning could resist the advances of a sweet-looking girl.
Tong Youyou was quite confident in her appearance; after all, pursuers at school had been endless.
Gao Zhong Dui didn’t care about the little flirtation between Chang Ning and Tong Youyou. What gave him a headache now was that Chang Ning seemed to have post-traumatic stress disorder. If he couldn’t solve this, he could only report it to He Da Dui.
In the cabin, aside from the roar of the airplane engines, the three people plus the pilot had no interest in talking, so the cabin fell quiet.
Chang Ning, who had a night of nightmares, saw the good environment and closed his eyes to catch up on sleep. Nightmares were extremely draining mentally; he felt his whole body was uncomfortable now, like being hollowed out.
The airplane roared back to the selection training camp. This time Tong Youyou didn’t get off with them; she still had entry procedures to handle and had to go to Wolf Fang Special Forces Detachment in person.
Wolf Fang was a highly confidential unit after all, so they were naturally cautious with newcomers not personally selected by them.
By now, Tong Youyou’s information was probably already on He Da Dui’s desk, and more than one person had reviewed it and attached their opinion.
On the airplane, Tong Youyou took a deep look at Chang Ning’s back. She hadn’t expected this guy to find her completely unattractive; the whole way, Chang Ning slept without even looking at her.
At this moment, she, who had shone for over a decade, felt a strong sense of frustration toward Chang Ning.
“Hui Lang.”
Chang Ning jumped off the airplane and greeted Hui Lang, then asked about the whereabouts of the others in his squad.
“Good you’re back. You really are reckless, kid. Charging forward with just a handgun.”
Hui Lang disapproved of Chang Ning’s behavior, then told him about Xiao Zhuang and the others’ status.
“Xiao Zhuang and the others are like you, still in ‘jungle survival’ and not done yet.
By normal process, you shouldn’t be back yet, but who told you to have an accident there.
According to the information, after our discussion, we still decided to let you pass.”
“Oh.”
Seeing Chang Ning’s calm demeanor, Hui Lang was very dissatisfied.
“Oh? Aren’t you happy or excited?”
“Hui Lang, what’s there to get excited about? It was expected, after all, my strength is right here.”
“Hey, you kid!”
Hui Lang kicked Chang Ning’s buttocks. This kid’s cocky attitude was really infuriating.
