Chapter 12: Hemophobia
Fan Ren had calculated everything but never expected that Xu Min’s roommate would faint at the sight of blood.
He had previously heard Xu Min introduce Zeng Yingying, whose family conditions were not very good.
Just now he was still sighing that, after all, children from poor families had stronger tolerance for pain than ordinary people.
But he never imagined that this girl would faint at the sight of blood.
This scene immediately attracted the attention of all the customers dining in the restaurant.
“These days, young people don’t pay attention to the occasion.”
Fan Ren was almost choked to death by the complaint from the old man in front of him.
“She fainted at the sight of blood!”
‘All bones, skinny as a rail.’
Fan Ren explained while inwardly complaining, hurriedly helping this delicate body, estimated to weigh only seventy or eighty pounds, to lie flat on the ground.
There’s drama to watch!
In an instant, everyone in the restaurant crowded over, and at the front desk, the boss’s wife also hurried over upon hearing the noise.
“Come on, make way everyone.”
Calling out while pushing into the crowd, the boss’s wife squeezed her way in.
Looking closely, she saw that the one lying on the ground was the part-time employee from the store.
At this time, Zeng Yingying was lying pale-faced on the ground, fainting, and apart from some faint breathing, anyone who didn’t know would think she was dead.
Immediately, the boss’s wife felt a surge of nameless anger.
She had long said this girl was skinny as a rail, liable to fall over in the wind, not to mention her pair of foxy eyes; hiring her into their own store was purely her husband’s idea.
If it were up to her, she would firmly refuse to hire her.
And now, sure enough, something had happened.
“Ah, this has nothing to do with our store, she’s a temp worker.”
Over there, Fan Ren was observing Zeng Yingying’s condition, hesitating whether to call 120, when he heard a familiar tone of shirking responsibility from beside his ear.
“Something happened in your store, so your store has to take full responsibility; even a temp worker can’t escape that.”
Glaring impatiently at the boss’s wife in front of him, Fan Ren took out his mobile phone and dialed 120.
“Right, the young man is correct; something happened, boss’s wife, don’t think of shirking responsibility. Look how skinny this girl is; who would have thought this store is so black-hearted!”
The old man watching the drama nearby quickly spoke up, his words scaring the boss’s wife’s big face pale.
“To die, she was skinny as bones when she came; it has nothing to do with our store, not a single penny; old man, don’t talk nonsense.”
While it was noisy here, the boss inside also hurried out upon hearing the commotion.
Seeing the newcomer, the boss’s wife, who was arguing with the old man, immediately rushed over angrily and unleashed a barrage of slaps on the fat boss.
“All your fault! All your fault! Bewitched by this fox spirit, now it’s good, wait to pay compensation.”
The farce finally came to an end when the ambulance arrived and Zeng Yingying slowly woke up.
Over there, the fat boss, whose face was scratched by the boss’s wife, helplessly settled Zeng Yingying’s salary.
Her part-time job ended there; no matter how much Zeng Yingying pleaded, the terrified boss’s wife would never let this time bomb stay in the store.
Fan Ren led the pale-faced Zeng Yingying to sit down in another restaurant.
He hadn’t eaten; since they weren’t strangers, it was only right to have a casual meal together.
Looking at Zeng Yingying in front of him with her head down and a bitter expression, Fan Ren broke the silence first.
“Haven’t found a job yet?”
Zeng Yingying lifted her head, revealing her colorless but beautiful foxy-eyed face.
She nodded, then said: “Thanks for just now; if I hadn’t met you today…”
“If you hadn’t met me, you probably wouldn’t have spilled the dish, and none of this would have happened.”
“How could it be; it has nothing to do with you; it’s my own fault.”
It was rare for Fan Ren to say so much to her; after that, he didn’t know what to say, and the table fell silent.
A rapid telephone ring broke the awkward atmosphere.
“Where? XX Restaurant? Okay, coming right away; buddy hasn’t eaten, wait for me!”
After hanging up the phone, Fan Ren thought for a moment and ordered two more dishes.
“Liu Jun, you should be familiar.”
“I know him, but haven’t spoken. By the way, did you just get off work? You seem pretty busy?”
Responding, Zeng Yingying looked puzzled at Fan Ren’s computer placed to the side.
Fan Ren nodded and asked in return: “Yeah, handling some work matters on the way. That one just now was part-time; you haven’t settled on a job yet?”
Mentioning the part-time job, Zeng Yingying thought of how the temporary work was gone again, and the resumes she submitted were still without news.
Then she recalled the phone call from her mother at home a few days ago.
‘Send two thousand yuan home every month, or come back and get married!’
Her foxy eyes immediately welled up with aggrieved tears.
“What’s the situation?”
Liu Jun appeared at the restaurant door with a shocked expression, looking at Fan Ren and Zeng Yingying across from him, his mind uncontrollably starting to imagine the plot.
Fan Ren turned his head, shook it helplessly, grabbed a tissue and handed it to the tearful girl in front of him.
“Wipe it; if you keep crying, people will misunderstand.”
Without a word, Liu Jun’s gossip soul ignited, and he hurried over, winking at Fan Ren in front of him.
Fan Ren explained the scene from earlier in a low voice; after he finished, the tears in Zeng Yingying’s eyes across from him gradually stopped.
“That’s it?”
Unlike Fan Ren, Liu Jun was always straightforward and immediately continued: “Haven’t found a job yet, right?”
Zeng Yingying nodded, her face bitter again.
Liu Jun looked at Fan Ren with a hint of doubt in his eyes, puzzled.
Is this even a thing?
Xinghai was short on people right now; how short?
The boss with over a hundred million in assets personally handling frontline recruitment, company site selection, decoration, and other trivial matters.
Fan Ren helplessly said: “I just found out too.”
Turning to Zeng Yingying, he said: “Interested in joining our company?”
“Ah?”
“Hehe, let me reintroduce; sitting in front of you is the big boss of Xinghai Technology Company. If you’re looking for a job, isn’t it just a nod from him?”
Fan Ren glared at Liu Jun, then turned and said: “I remember you’re in business administration, right?”
Zeng Yingying nodded somewhat blankly; she knew Fan Ren, so how did he suddenly transform from a worker too busy to even eat into a boss?
Dishes were served one after another; Fan Ren was starving and, chopsticks in hand, ate while roughly introducing the current situation of Xinghai Technology to Zeng Yingying, finally stating she could temporarily handle all secretary work at the company.
Salary temporarily set at 5000; if she performed well, she could formally take the secretary position, with salary increased.
Fan Ren really needed people; most of those hired today were over forty.
Leaving aside business skills, at least in management, they weren’t as easy to deal with as young people.
Mainly the pressure on salary; older applicants differed from fresh graduates; most had families to support.
After all, Xinghai was just starting; though there was money on the books now, subsequent research and development, production would all be hefty fees.
Now was not the time to spend freely.
As for why no young people were recruited?
Actually, Liu Xinyue’s attitude today showed it; anyone seeing the currently dilapidated Xinghai Company wouldn’t think it had development prospects.
The older ones were easier; as long as the salary was sufficient, even office work in ruins wouldn’t make them refuse.
