Chapter 32: Xinghai On The Verge Of Collapse?
In Xinghai’s large reception room, Liu Jun kept apologizing with a smile.
Ultimately, after expressing that for the business partners’ losses caused by the equipment being sealed during this period, Xinghai would provide full compensation.
After these words were said, the business partners’ emotions were finally soothed.
The next day at work, Liu Jun was surprised to find that the young engineers whom Fan Ren had given a week off had all returned to the company unannounced.
“General Manager Liu, General Manager Liu, you’re here.”
“General Manager Liu, those shameless bastards at Deli are using our low-price patent, then turning around to sue us for infringement?”
“General Manager Liu, we live and die with Xinghai!”
Liu Jun fiercely glared at a chubby-faced bald head in the crowd.
“A’dai! Shut your mouth!”
After roaring this sentence, Liu Jun’s somewhat pent-up emotions from consoling the business partners yesterday were released, and he suddenly felt much more comfortable.
“No, I won’t. Before I fall, no one can step over me!”
“A’dai, if you don’t roll back to work right now, I’ll…”
“I’m off today, not working!”
Liu Jun nearly suffocated himself in one breath. He stood in place, took several deep breaths, and only then regained his composure.
Looking at the young, indignant faces in front of him, he suddenly felt fired up too.
Fine, they all say Zeng Yingying is like a big nanny, and now it was his turn to take over the nanny duties for these two days.
He immediately gave another round of consoling words, soothing these young people’s emotions, before noticing Fan Ren at the door who had been disturbed by the noise.
“General Manager Fan, Deli Electric Power is bullying us too much!”
“General Manager Fan.”
“Boss Fan, I live and die with Xinghai.”
Fine, let Second Brother deal with the headache. Liu Jun laughed in anger, skirted around this group of fools, and headed into the company building.
Back in the office, Liu Jun brewed himself a pot of tea, lit a cigarette, and leisurely sat on the sofa to enjoy it comfortably.
He was pretty open-minded; right now, there was nothing he could do, everything depended on Second Brother.
He definitely couldn’t handle the technical side, so rather than anxiously flailing around here, he might as well take these days as a vacation for himself and relax.
After finishing one cigarette, he sipped several mouthfuls of the fine tea, and just as he was about to lie down, the office door was roughly pushed open, followed by a document being thrown onto his chest.
“Don’t just idle around, take a good look at this information. Later, you’ll still need to take the lead in running business for the Marketing Department.”
After Fan Ren said this, he vanished from the doorway.
Liu Jun was suddenly bewildered for a moment, picked up the information in his hand and looked at it, then got so angry he downed the tea in one gulp.
“He just can’t stand seeing me slacking off.”
After venting, he sighed and returned to his desk with the information to carefully review it. As for Fan Ren’s capabilities in technology, jokes aside, Liu Jun still had full confidence.
But after flipping through it for a while, he still realized his understanding of this good brother he’d known for over four years was still superficial.
Fan Ren spent half a day settling down the group of engineers who had even cast aside their vacations.
He tirelessly assigned them tasks to study battery technology, then returned to the office to continue working on his design drawings.
Meanwhile, Ma Gaosheng sat in the office, constantly answering and making calls.
“What, no response from Xinghai at all? Okay, I got it. No need to withdraw the lawsuit; I’ll explain to Headquarters.”
After hanging up, before he could think about the next move, the phone rang again.
Seeing the caller ID, a flash of ruthlessness crossed Ma Gaosheng’s face, and he answered.
“Ye Zong!”
“Ma Gaosheng! What the hell are you doing! Huh? You even dare to interfere with the company’s Legal Department? I see you don’t have me in your eyes anymore.”
“Ye Zong, let me report to you.”
“Shut up! Fine, Ma Gaosheng, I put you in the Linhai Branch not for you to act recklessly.”
“Ye Zong, Xinghai has compensated the previous business partners for the losses from the sealed equipment; their accounts are now drained. Give me a few more days, and I guarantee I’ll force Xinghai to sell the patent.”
Ma Gaosheng no longer bothered with subtlety and blurted out his inner thoughts.
He feared that if Ye Zong acted arbitrarily, he had the power to bypass the Board of Directors and remove him from his current position.
Sure enough, Ye Hongzhi on the other end fell silent after hearing this.
After a long while, Ye Hongzhi took a deep breath and said, “One week. I’m giving you only one week. If there’s no news from Xinghai about selling the patent by then, you know what to do!”
“Yes! Ye Zong, no need for you to say it; I’ll resign myself!”
With that, the call ended.
In the Vice President’s office at Deli Headquarters far away in Kyoto.
After hanging up, Ye Hongzhi revealed a cold smile at the corner of his mouth.
Still thinking resigning would let him off scot-free? Dream on. If he succeeds, promotion and raise are no problem.
If he fails…
Ye Hongzhi picked up the phone and dialed: “Legal Department, Old Li? Collect evidence of Linhai Branch General Manager Ma Gaosheng’s illegal bribery of Legal Department personnel and send it to me. Remember, don’t let anyone else know.”
Here, after hanging up, cold sweat beaded on Ma Gaosheng’s forehead.
The pressure from Ye Zong was immense; from the day he joined the company, he had been under him, always following his lead all these years.
Now on the edge of a cliff, he had for the first time gone over his head and stuck his hand into the company’s Legal Department.
This had provoked the other’s towering rage.
Thinking of this, a trace of imperceptible regret showed in his expression. If only he hadn’t driven Liu Jun away back then.
In Zeng Yingying’s rental apartment.
Having acted as a nanny for nearly half a year, she could finally take a proper vacation for herself.
She slept until the sun was high before reluctantly leaving the warm bed.
The rental apartment was quiet, with only her there, which was nice and peaceful.
Recently, the two sisters had finally found stable jobs: Liu Xinyue as a clerk in a company, and Xu Min unexpectedly doing car sales.
Zeng Yingying had no plans to go out today; with great difficulty on vacation, she just wanted to hole up in the dormitory until next week’s work.
After ordering takeout, she sat lazily in front of the computer to binge-watch shows.
Time quickly reached evening; the two good girlfriends dragged their fatigued bodies back to the dormitory one after the other, and at a glance saw several unopened takeout boxes on the table.
Then they saw Zeng Yingying lying sideways on the sofa, eyes intently fixed on the computer screen.
“Yingying off today? What’s this?”
Xu Min took off her high heels, walked closer, pointed at the unopened takeout boxes on the table, and asked curiously.
“Was going to treat you two to a big meal out, but you both came back late, so here, just eat these.”
Zeng Yingying stretched lazily, saw Liu Xinyue entering over there, and hurriedly started opening the takeout boxes.
“Wow, I’m starving. Yingying, you’re the best.”
Over there, Liu Xinyue, smelling the aroma, didn’t even change her shoes and ran up to join in opening the takeout boxes.
Xu Min said “thanks” and joined in without ceremony.
“How’s it going? Minmin, sold any cars in the past few days?”
While eating, Liu Xinyue didn’t stop her mouth and asked directly.
Xu Min shook her head in distress: “Not that easy. Still learning from our boss.”
“Eh, looks like this month’s salaries for us two will mostly go to rent again.”
Hearing this, Liu Xinyue pulled a long face.
The two of them had always been close, so they didn’t avoid saying this in front of Zeng Yingying.
Zeng Yingying was a bit surprised and puzzled: “How much are your salaries now? If not enough for rent, I’ll cover it for a few months?”
She had no other thoughts; after living together for so many years, her salary was thirty thousand now, more than enough to cover rent alone.
Besides, these two sisters really had bad luck.
One stumbled through months of odd jobs before landing a clerk position: 800 for a one-month internship, just over 3000 after turning permanent.
The other had a good start, getting 5000 salary right after graduation, but after a few months not only saved nothing but got fired.
Luckily, relying on her very good appearance, she found car sales work, but base salary lower than Liu Xinyue’s at just over 2000, with the rest from commissions on deals.
