Chapter 34: Success
Xingyun Manufacturing, General Manager’s Office.
Yun Yin looked at Fan Ren in front of her with a puzzled expression. At this time, he was holding a milky white square material in his hand, examining it with full concentration.
“General Manager Fan, what is this batch of bone extract that you had me custom order for? I had to find quite a few factories to get it made.”
Fan Ren put the material back into the box and couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Among the materials for manufacturing solid-state batteries, this most difficult bone extract had finally been obtained, so the subsequent assembly would not be difficult.
He already had all the data from the design drawings memorized. Now he just needed to process the materials according to the steps and assemble them step by step.
If this were in the past, he would have had to put in some effort.
But now he had his own fully automated smart factory, and processing the materials was incredibly easy.
“General Manager Fan?”
“Ah, sorry, I was lost in thought. I’ll keep it a secret for now. Arrange it for me; I need to use the battery assembly line soon.”
With that, he excitedly ran out.
“What a weirdo.” Yun Yin muttered, then turned and passed on Fan Ren’s instructions.
“A’dai, get to work!”
“Got it!”
Fan Ren shouted loudly and led Deli toward the workbench.
Nearby, Liu Jun couldn’t contain his excitement and paced back and forth restlessly. Soon, he ran out and lit a cigarette, taking two deep drags.
After calming down a bit, he returned to the factory and looked at Fan Ren at the workbench.
“General Manager Liu, what’s going on?”
Yun Yin was truly baffled; she still didn’t understand what the mysterious assembly Fan Ren was doing was about.
Liu Jun turned his head and nodded in greeting. This general manager, who held 20% shares in Xingyun Manufacturing, had already won over most of the employees at Xinghai, including him, with her work attitude over the past six months.
She ate and slept on the construction site and single-handedly completed the site purchase as well as the preliminary factory work.
Iron Lady is not just an empty title.
He scratched his head and said, “General Manager Yun, to be honest, I don’t know for sure either. Let’s wait for the result. It should be soon.”
As he spoke, Fan Ren took out a battery the size of a palm from the machine.
His expression didn’t change much as he placed it into the nearby testing instrument and pressed the button.
A’dai stood nearby, glancing at the man and woman not far away with varied expressions, and snorted disdainfully in his heart.
“They look like they’ve never seen the world. Boss Fan is at a height of several stories high.”
Soon, the test data came out.
“Boss, awesome!”
A’dai looked full of admiration.
But Fan Ren shook his head; it was still far from the result he wanted. He immediately returned to the main equipment and quickly adjusted the data with both hands.
Liu Jun’s heart sank. Second Brother’s expression was neither happy nor sad, which meant the result wasn’t ideal in his view.
“General Manager Yun, I’m stepping out for a smoke.”
He gave an awkward laugh and ran out again.
He had just taken out the cigarette without lighting it when A’dai’s bald head approached with a fawning smile.
Liu Jun admired this fool’s carefree attitude. He sighed, tossed him a cigarette, and lit one for himself.
“Hey.”
“What’s up? Did General Manager Liu get dumped? Makes sense; we haven’t seen Supervisor Su for a while. No worries, General Manager Liu, you’re not bad-looking; you won’t have trouble finding a girlfriend in the future.”
“Cough cough cough, which eye of yours saw me get dumped?”
“Then why are you sighing for no reason? I thought—”
“Get lost, get lost. Do you think everyone’s as optimistic as you? No progress on the battery means trouble for the company!”
As soon as Liu Jun finished speaking, A’dai didn’t retort.
Curious, he turned to look, and A’dai was staring at him like he was an idiot.
“General Manager Liu, charge-discharge speed improved by 30%. If that’s not an improvement, what is? And this is a true solid-state battery, not those fake ones that only achieve solid form under certain low-temperature conditions.”
“No way? You can’t even understand this data?”
Liu Jun looked shocked and stammered after a long pause, “So, that one just now succeeded?”
A’dai nodded, his gaze carrying a hint of pity.
He hadn’t expected General Manager Liu to be even worse than him.
“Get lost.”
Liu Jun pushed away the extremely annoying A’dai in front of him and rushed toward Fan Ren at the factory workbench.
“It succeeded?”
Fan Ren nodded, his gaze falling on the new battery produced after adjusting the data. Without stopping, he placed it into the testing device again.
“The previous one was somewhat unsatisfactory. I tweaked the data; let’s see this one. It should be fine.”
With that, Fan Ren activated the test button.
This time, a smile finally appeared on his usually expressionless face as the data rose.
“It succeeded?”
Liu Jun couldn’t make sense of the scripture-like data and quickly asked.
Fan Ren nodded, sounding relieved. “Charge-discharge speed is nearly 40% higher than liquid batteries. Capacity is three times higher at the same volume. It reaches 1000wh/kg, plus high-temperature resistance and non-flammability. It finally succeeded.”
With that, he turned off the testing equipment, took out the square ‘iron block,’ weighed it lightly in his hand, and handed it to Liu Jun.
“Take a look.”
Liu Jun hurriedly took it, and his expression turned surprised as soon as he felt its weight.
“So light?”
This battery was actually half a circle lighter than a liquid lithium battery of the same volume.
Before he could examine the battery in his hand closely, Fan Ren took it away, and then he saw Fan Ren walking toward an empty area nearby.
“What are you doing?”
Seeing Fan Ren holding a handheld drill, Liu Jun quickly followed.
“Testing it. Why?”
With that, Fan Ren placed the battery on the ground, revved the electric drill to maximum power, and in Liu Jun’s regretful gaze, drilled right into the center of the battery.
Soon, the iron casing was drilled open, but there was no fire or explosion as Liu Jun had imagined.
Looking at the puff of blue smoke rising before him, he scratched his head in confusion.
“This is how it should be. This is the truly impressive part of solid-state batteries—even if they leak, they won’t spontaneously combust. Just in terms of safety, it’s more marketable than traditional liquid lithium batteries.”
Fan Ren murmured as he stood up and stretched lazily.
“Prepare the press conference. I bet Ma Gaosheng can’t wait any longer. Heh, this time we’ll give them a big surprise.”
“Damn, you actually pulled it off. Awesome, Second Brother! Wait, I’ll go arrange it now. Optimize the production line here quickly. I have a feeling we’re really going to make it big this time!”
Liu Jun was exhilarated as he rushed out, giving some instructions along the way. He didn’t even greet Yun Yin nearby and disappeared through the main entrance.
Fan Ren came to Yun Yin and, amid her shocked expression, explained the achievements from earlier.
“Solid-state battery? This?”
Yun Yin took the battery from Fan Ren that had a big hole drilled in the center and examined it carefully.
“No scorch marks, right?”
Liu Jun understood her meaning and smiled as he continued explaining, “Solid-state batteries are like this—they won’t burn. After damage, at most they’ll produce some harmless gas due to rapid discharge.”
Yun Yin’s expression gradually changed.
If it was really as amazing as Fan Ren said, then the factory would be revitalized.
Because of Ma Gaosheng’s deliberate suppression at Deli Electric Power, the newly built factory currently only handled production for the cooperation with San Xin.
Orders were pitifully few, and once the follow-ups were completed, sources for future orders were a worry.
But now, if everything Fan Ren said was true, the factory’s current output wouldn’t even be enough.
