Chapter 24: Sorry, I have plans
Feeling refreshed, Ye Chuxiao woke up early.
Since she was attending a party in the evening and might need some preparation in the afternoon, Ye Chuxiao called Lu Ziyi to say she would go to the design studio in the morning.
Lu Ziyi had just woken up. Hearing Ye Chuxiao’s clear and cheerful voice on the phone, the corners of his thin, soft lips couldn’t help but curve slightly upwards.
Lu Ziyi, with a hint of laziness, said, “Xiaoxiao, come over. I’ll wait for you in the design studio.”
Ye Chuxiao said apologetically, “Senior Student Ziyi, did I wake you up?”
“It’s fine,” Lu Ziyi said gently. “You’re only a minute faster than my alarm clock.”
“Senior Student Ziyi, shall I bring you breakfast?”
“Okay, thank you, Xiaoxiao.”
So when Lu Ziyi heard the doorbell and went to open the door, he saw Ye Chuxiao, smiling charmingly, carrying a large bag in each hand.
Lu Ziyi took them and said, “Xiaoxiao, you bought so much.”
“I didn’t know what Senior Student Ziyi likes to eat, so I bought a little more for you to choose from.”
Lu Ziyi placed the two large bags of breakfast on the dining table and joked, “Then what should I do with the leftovers I don’t like?”
“Leave them for Brother Congrui and Brother Hou Chun!” Ye Chuxiao immediately chimed in, then stuck out her tongue slightly. “That doesn’t seem very good, does it?”
“It’s okay,” Lu Ziyi laughed. “It’s good enough that they get something to eat.”
Lu Ziyi and Ye Chuxiao sat down to eat breakfast.
“Xiaoxiao,” Lu Ziyi’s eyes were full of expectation as he asked, “Are you free tonight? Would you like to go to a party with me?”
“Tonight?”
“Tonight.”
“I’m not free tonight,” Ye Chuxiao said apologetically. “I promised my Brother Chusheng that I would accompany him to a party.”
“Lin Chusheng?”
“Uh, yes.” Ye Chuxiao’s eyes widened. “Does Senior Student Ziyi know Brother Chusheng?”
“We work together in the Student Union,” Lu Ziyi said. The smile on his handsome face faded, and he didn’t say anything more. No wonder this girl woke up so early and was in such a good mood today.
In the morning, Lu Ziyi tutored Ye Chuxiao in Advanced Mathematics. Since there was a school-wide unified exam next Monday, Lu Ziyi put aside his work to teach Ye Chuxiao.
It wasn’t until close to noon that Lu Ziyi’s lesson concluded. He said calmly, “Xiaoxiao, you’ve mastered the regular exam questions. If you perform at your normal level, scoring over eighty should be no problem.”
Ye Chuxiao made a sheepish face and said, “I’d be happy with sixty, I don’t dare to think about eighty.”
Lu Ziyi chuckled lightly, “Even if Xiaoxiao doesn’t believe in herself, you should believe in me. How could you not pass with an excellent score after my tutoring?”
Ye Chuxiao giggled.
Seeing her mysterious look, Lu Ziyi laughed even more playfully, “What’s wrong, Xiaoxiao? Actually, thinking about a perfect score is also possible!”
“No, no,” Ye Chuxiao said with a smile. “I remembered our class’s Study Committee Member saying that if I pass, our class will present you with a banner inscribed with—Miraculous Healing, Boundless Merit! Thank you for reviving this dead horse!”
Lu Ziyi immediately replied, “On the day you present me with the banner, remember to bang gongs and drums and parade around the campus first.”
Lu Ziyi and Ye Chuxiao both laughed with amusement.
“Xiaoxiao,” Lu Ziyi said, “let’s go have lunch.”
“Uh…” Ye Chuxiao said apologetically, “Brother Chusheng sent me a message saying he’s having lunch with me. We’ve arranged to meet at the West Main Gate.”
