Chapter 8: The School Hunk’s Tactics
Ye Chuxiao picked up another pencil, sharpening it as she said, “I often use pencils when I draw, and I feel that the pencil leads sharpened by a pencil sharpener are too thin and too sharp, making them difficult to use. If I sharpen the pencil myself, I can control the length and thickness of the lead as needed.”
“I think so too!” Lu Ziyi agreed wholeheartedly. “My father is an architectural engineer. I watched my mother sharpen pencils for my father since I was little. My father said that pencils sharpened with a single-sided blade are the best to use, so I’m also used to sharpening pencils with a single-sided blade.”
Ye Chuxiao’s hand holding the single-sided blade paused slightly, and she pursed her lips with a hint of embarrassment.
To the School Hunk, watching me sharpen pencils makes you think of your dear mother. What an honor!
Lu Ziyi casually asked, “Junior schoolmate, you probably use pencils often too. What’s your major?”
“Advertising Design, first year.”
“Oh,” Lu Ziyi generously introduced himself, “I’m a third-year student in the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture. My name is Lu Ziyi. How should I address you, junior schoolmate?”
“I… uh?” Ye Chuxiao paused. Fortunately, she had her head down, so Lu Ziyi probably wouldn’t notice her awkwardness!
Last night, when she called Lu Ziyi, the Study Committee Member suddenly ran into their dormitory and shouted “Ye Chuxiao” several times, earnestly instructing her to focus on Advanced Mathematics and not fail a course, which would embarrass her.
Lu Ziyi wouldn’t still have some memory of the name “Ye Chuxiao,” which might lead to some unpleasant emotions, would he?
Ye Chuxiao coughed lightly, a headache forming, and said, “My name is… Xiaoxiao.”
“Junior schoolmate Xiaoxiao…” Lu Ziyi paused slightly here, with a hint of meaning, “Hmm, that’s a nice name.”
Ye Chuxiao didn’t reply, tugging at the corner of her mouth awkwardly. She wasn’t exactly lying, was she?
After chatting about academic matters for a while longer, Ye Chuxiao finished sharpening all of Lu Ziyi’s pencils.
“Senior Student Ziyi…” Ye Chuxiao stood up. Just as she opened her mouth, she heard someone call out, “Ziyi!”
Two male students walked over. Lu Ziyi said to Ye Chuxiao, “These are my classmates. We’re in the same group for surveying.”
Lu Ziyi pointed to the sturdy, slightly shorter male student and said, “This is Lin Houchun.”
Then he pointed to the tall, thin male student and said, “This is Zhao Congrui.”
Ye Chuxiao politely greeted them, “Hello, senior students.”
“Hello, junior schoolmate! Hello, junior schoolmate!”
Lin Houchun smiled with a look of simple honesty, while Zhao Congrui smiled shrewdly and asked, “Ziyi, who is this junior schoolmate?”
“Junior schoolmate Xiaoxiao,” Lu Ziyi called out to Ye Chuxiao, introducing her to his classmates. He then added, “Thank you for helping me sharpen my pencils. If we go to the canteen now, there probably won’t be much food left. Let me treat you to a meal at a restaurant near the school as a thank you!”
“Uh…” Ye Chuxiao didn’t know whether to accept or not. Sharpening pencils was a small matter; it shouldn’t warrant Senior Student Ziyi treating her to a meal, should it?
At this moment, Lin Houchun enthusiastically said, “Ziyi, when Congrui and I came back from the canteen on the second floor, there was still a lot of food—”
Zhao Congrui stepped on Lin Houchun’s foot without hesitation and then said, “Yeah, there were still a lot of people at the canteen on the second floor. If you rush over there, there probably won’t be much to eat!”
“Xiaoxiao, let’s go eat outside the school then,” Lu Ziyi invited again.
“Okay… alright.” Ye Chuxiao agreed. Since the senior students said there was no food left in the canteen, she had no choice but to eat outside.
Ye Chuxiao picked up her notebook, which held a few test papers, and walked with Lu Ziyi along the tree-lined path.
Zhao Congrui looked at the tall, handsome figure and the petite, lovely figure, smiling with a playful expression.
Lin Houchun was still crying out, “Congrui, you stepped on me again!”
