Chapter 71: Launch Speech

Hello everyone, this is Qingkong.

Unknowingly, this is already my third book. Looking back at the first time I naively published on Qidian, I didn’t even know how to contact for internal submission back then. I’m filled with all sorts of emotions.

Thanks to Editor Behe greatly, who fished me out and got me a contract right when I was about to give up. And also to the responsibility editors Fuchen, Canaan, and Chenxiang who have been handling me from before until now. Whenever issues arose because I wasn’t familiar with the website mechanisms, they provided timely help and solutions. If you want to try writing online literature, you can submit to them too. Now you can directly find their submission contact info in the backend of the Writer Assistant website.

In a certain sense, I’m not that kind of mature online literature author. I’m often unsure about some refreshment tropes and occasionally get teased by everyone, saying it’s better not to write those clumsy face-slapping plots( ̄ε(# ̄)☆╰╮( ̄▽ ̄///)

But I still have to write them, after all, online literature isn’t prose; it needs some anticipation, excitement, and pleasure, just maybe not as much proportion as other online literature.

This book’s power system draws partial inspiration from Secret Cult Simulator and Star Lords’ Book. If you’re interested, you can try playing that series of games(it’s quite complex). The story mainly revolves around the protagonist’s adventure, becoming stronger, farming, and making money life, occasionally incorporating some key historical events, as well as unveiling the grand curtain of the world.

Regarding the female protagonist, strictly speaking, I just prefer the ‘maiden’ attribute among female characters, that charm between youthful and mature, where purity and allure harmonize as one.

This is probably related to liking to watch anime when I was young,《Moonlight Maiden》《Cardcaptor Sakura》, and later《Rozen Maiden》《Puella Magi Madoka Magica》《Girls’ Opera》, etc.

Personally, the three animations that have had a greater influence on my creation should be《The Twelve Kingdoms》《Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle》《Pandora Hearts》. These three came out quite early, and there might not be many friends who know them now, but I still really want to recommend them to everyone.

《The Twelve Kingdoms》 is an anime adaptation of the novel of the same name by Ono Yuyumi, telling the story of Suzu Youko crossing into a fictional world themed on China’s Classic of Mountains and Seas and Zhou Dynasty system, transforming from a timid and cowardly person step by step into a mature and qualified monarch. It has many discussions on humanity and national systems. Though it can’t compare to serious politics, it’s enough to give many naive people some insights.

The protagonist of 《Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle》 is actually the otherworld counterpart of the protagonist of 《Cardcaptor Sakura》, but as their grown-up versions. Compared to the fairy tale-oriented 《Cardcaptor Sakura》, this one is more melancholy, involving themes like lifespan, promise, fate, and so on.

《Pandora Hearts》 is a very stunning manga. Readers familiar with it will know that in the story setting of 《I’m Not a Witch》, the inspiration for the empire’s four grand dukes comes from this manga. Pursuing the secret of that tragedy a hundred years ago, gradually unveiling the truth of the past—this work with British style and contract mysterious spirits is an extremely rare masterpiece.

Since I like pretty, beautiful, and fantastical maidens, I have to create such characters and works to satisfy my inner motivation.

In the early days of creation, some female readers complained to me, saying girls in reality are nothing like that, so I curiously asked her some questions.

Indeed, if written according to her description, it would probably conform to reality, but that would go against my original intention.

What I like is probably that perfect, fantastical maiden character in youthful fantasy. If it completely leans toward reality, it would lose that hazy affection, which would cause my writing motivation to plummet sharply(it’s really unacceptable_(:з」∠)_)

So, since novels are products of fantasy, sticking strictly to reality would be quite boring. Plus, reality is full of all sorts of wonders, hard to pin down to an exact standard.

After talking about the ‘maiden protagonist’ issue, let’s talk about the story style. Readers who have finished my first two books probably know that I have some insights and preferences for building worldviews, often interspersing poetry, legends, historical changes, etc., from the background history to make the world more vivid.

The beauty of a great tree lies not only in its blooming flowers but also in its thick branches and leaves and profound root system.

I hope these interspersed legends and history can help everyone better immerse and substitute into this small world in the book.

If you don’t dislike this style and theme, I’ll be very happy and will do my best to present a magnificent and wonderful world to everyone.

If you’re a new reader and also like this style, you can check out my other book 《I’m Not a Witch》. The two have many similarities but also differences. As for 《Miss Witch Doesn’t Want to Be a Diva》, it does have some regrets, so you can choose to read it selectively.

Finally, thank you very much for your support!

This is Qingkong, see you next time.
