Chapter 26: Buying A Boat
Yun Jiao bared her teeth and wanted to bite, but this person was so dirty she didn’t know how long it had been since he last bathed.
Yun Jiao was disgusted.
So she slapped him.
“Ahhh… I’m going to tell my mom on you!”
Yun Jiao kicked him: “Coward!”
Yun Xiao Jiu: “A waste who only knows how to tell on parents!”
In the end, Yun Zhuangzhuang and his cousin were both beaten and ran away dejectedly.
Yun Xiao Jiu immediately complained: “Fifth Brother, when you were fighting just now, Yun Zhuangzhuang wanted to throw stones at you.”
Yun Xiao Wu was furious: “That punk, next time I see him, I’ll beat him so badly his own mother won’t recognize him!”
On this trip, not only could they not play marbles, but Yun Zhuangzhuang ruined their mood instead.
They all had long faces on the way back.
What made them even angrier was that Cai Jinhua and her sister, who was Yun Zhuangzhuang’s cousin’s mom, actually came to their house to make trouble.
“Look at how your children have beaten up our sons! Why did you have so many if you can’t teach them? And that little bitch of yours dared to hit my son’s face! Hand her over, I’m going to teach her a good lesson today!”
Shen Yunlian and Wang Mei turned, each holding a broom, and started hitting people.
“Our children are very well-behaved. Cai Jinhua, did you eat shit? You think you can teach my Jiao Jiao a lesson? Who do you think you are? You should teach your own son a lesson first!”
Yun Xiao Wu rushed over: “Mom, Auntie, Yun Zhuangzhuang wanted to smash my head with a stone, and sister saw it, that’s why she hit him.”
Yun Xiao Qi: “Mom, Yun Zhuangzhuang asked his cousin to hit us, and wouldn’t let us play with glass marbles.”
“Exactly, if we hadn’t had more people, we would have suffered a big loss.”
So the two women fought even more fiercely: “Shameless bitch, you wanted to throw stones at people! You’re the bad guy, accusing us first! Since you haven’t taught your child well, then we adults will deal with you, the mother!”
Cai Jinhua and her sister were directly beaten and ran away.
“You bunch of lunatics, just you wait, I won’t let this go!” Cai Jinhua made a threat as she left.
But no one took her words to heart.
“Is Jiao Jiao injured?”
Shen Yunlian and Wang Mei checked the children all over and breathed a sigh of relief when they confirmed they were not injured.
Granny Yun also came out.
“That Cai Jinhua is getting more and more shameless. If she continues to raise her child like this, something will happen to him sooner or later.”
She raised her daughter like a slave and spoiled her son to this extent. No matter what mistakes Yun Zhuangzhuang made, she would always be there to unreasonably clean up his mess.
“Our Jiao Jiao is so well-behaved. We don’t cause trouble, and we don’t fear trouble.”
Yun Jiao nodded: “Grandma, it smells so good.”
“The food is ready, just waiting for Grandpa and the others to come back for dinner.”
“Yun Xiao Wu, go call Grandpa and the others.”
“Understood.”
The house-building workers were only provided with lunch, and they ate at home in the afternoon.
Food was precious in those years, and no family in the village provided three meals a day.
The family gathered together and started eating. Granny Yun put a piece of garlic-flavored moon shell into Yun Jiao’s bowl.
“Thank you, Grandma.”
The moon shells were steamed. The garlic and chili on top were seasoned and then steamed together. The meat was tender and delicious.
There wasn’t much chili and garlic, but it was enough to bring out the aroma.
If there were no restrictions, Yun Jiao could eat over ten by herself!
Unfortunately, there weren’t that many in total.
“We went tide pooling today, and Jiao Jiao and Xiao Wu picked up a large yellow croaker, weighing five jin and two liang. I’ve never seen such a big large yellow croaker before. There were also some blood clams. Today, our family sold thirty-four yuan and ninety cents.”
Hearing this news, the whole family was overjoyed.
Father Yun said: “Tomorrow we will go to see the boat. If it’s possible, we’ll buy it directly. Our family’s life will get better and better.”
Yun Jiao looked up when she heard this, and said in a soft, pleading voice: “Daddy, I want to go too.”
Children naturally learn without being taught.
She also wanted to see the boat. It would be great if they could return by boat. Even if she couldn’t go out to sea, it would be good to have more contact up close.
“Okay, Jiao Jiao will go with Daddy tomorrow.”
…………
The boat they were going to buy was a second-hand wooden boat. They had already spoken with the owner, so when they arrived, the owner directly took them to see the boat.
“Although this wooden boat is a bit old, we’ve maintained it well and there are no damaged parts. It’s eight meters long, and selling it to you for three hundred and twenty is definitely a good price.”
Yun Linhai went to inspect the boat. He wanted to see it himself to be reassured.
Yun Jiao had already climbed inside the boat.
The inside of the boat smelled of fish and sea mixed together, and it was a bit dirty.
An eight-meter-long wooden boat was quite large.
The boat was fine, but they still had to negotiate the price.
Finally, the price was settled at three hundred and ten.
“Can you give us a fishing rod?”
Yun Jiao pointed at the fishing rod placed in the corner. It was actually made of bamboo, with a fishing line and hook attached.
At that time, they didn’t sell professional fishing rods yet; most were homemade.
However, very few people went out to sea to fish; they mostly caught fish or used traps.
“Take it. This fishing rod hasn’t been used much.”
“Thank you.”
Yun Jiao thanked him obediently in a soft, pleasant voice, which made the uncle who gave her the fishing rod feel comfortable.
When she received the fishing rod, Yun Jiao felt it was a bit heavy, but she had enough strength to hold it now.
“Daddy, shall we sail back?”
Father Yun excitedly rubbed his hands. Their family finally had their own boat.
“Get on the boat, I’ll row.”
Father Yun grew up by the sea. Although his family never had a boat before, they often worked on other boats, so he naturally knew how to operate one.
Soon, their newly purchased boat began to move on the sea.
“Jiao Jiao, hold on tight, we’re going out to sea.”
You could hear how happy he was just from his voice.
The village where they bought the boat and Bailong Village were neighboring villages, so the distance wasn’t too far, but it would still take some time to row.
Yun Jiao sat steadily on the boat, a small, fair and soft figure, fiddling with her fishing rod.
She threaded a dried small shrimp onto the fish hook.
This was a snack her mom had prepared for her, and she was using it to fish.
She cast the fish hook with the small shrimp into the sea. Yun Jiao looked at the boundless ocean. If she hadn’t been afraid of her father worrying, she really wanted to jump in.
Compared to the sea, their small fishing boat was insignificant.
The wooden fishing boat moved slowly on the sea surface when suddenly there was a tugging force on her fishing rod.
It almost pulled Yun Jiao into the sea with a sudden jerk.
Yun Jiao reacted quickly and pulled the fish up with all her might.
It was a black sea bream weighing about two jin, a common fish in the nearshore waters. The price at the purchase point was relatively cheap, fluctuating between three and four jiao.
For a dried small shrimp, she got such a big fish weighing two jin. Yun Jiao was quite satisfied.
She pouted and hugged the fish with difficulty, tossing it to the side.
She sat on the deck and took out all the dried small shrimp on her. There were only twelve left.
