Chapter 5: Continue To Find Big Catches
“Can I eat it?”
Yun Jiao asked with eager eyes.
Her older brothers: …
“Not now, raw ones don’t taste good.”
Yun Jiao said “oh” with regret, and before Yun Xiaowu and the others noticed, she quickly took a bite of the lobster’s tail.
“Crunch…”
Yun Xiaowu: !!!
“Jiaojiao, you can’t eat it. We’ll let Grandma cook it properly when we get home.”
Yun Jiao spat out the small section of tail in her mouth: “Oh, I know.”
She sounded obedient.
“Let’s go see if there’s anything else. Sister, please put that lobster in the bucket first, and hold your brother’s hand so you don’t fall.”
Although excited, Yun Xiaowu didn’t forget to worry about Yun Jiao’s safety.
“Fifth Brother, there’s more! There’s a spiny lobster here too!”
Yun Xiaoqi laughed particularly cheerfully and grabbed a spiny lobster.
“Brother, there’s one here too.”
In an instant, the Yun brothers were overjoyed, happily grabbing spiny lobsters and putting them into the bucket.
Yun Jiao was also catching them.
The three of them, plus the one Yun Jiao caught earlier, made a total of five spiny lobsters.
“Hahahaha… We’re rich!”
Everyone was so happy their gums were showing.
Yun Jiao was also infected by their joy, her pupils shining and curving, looking extremely beautiful.
“Let’s go, let’s go, let’s continue forward and see if there’s any other seafood.”
They continued to walk forward. There were no catches in the few puddles ahead, but they heard sounds again later.
“What is it, what is it? Is it a spiny lobster?”
Yun Xiaoqi asked impatiently.
Yun Jiao’s childish voice sounded: “No, it’s two fish.”
“Jiaojiao, you can see them?”
Yun Jiao nodded: “Yes, I can see them.”
“Wow… Jiaojiao, could you really be the little fairy the Dragon King sent to our family?”
“Sister is amazing, she led us to find big catches!”
Yun Xiaowu held Yun Jiao’s hand: “Let’s stop talking for now, let’s go see what kind of fish they are.”
When they walked over, the fish in the puddle had vibrant colors, and their outlines could be vaguely seen even in the dark cliff cave.
Yun Xiaoqi: “It’s a red fish!”
“Red? Red grouper, red snapper, or bigeye snapper?”
After guessing several types of fish, Yun Xiaowu laughed and said, “We wouldn’t be that lucky to get a coral trout, would we?!”
Although he wasn’t old, he knew quite a few fish.
“Catch it quickly!”
The light in the cave was too dim to see clearly, so they would check again when they went out.
The fish was still alive, so he grabbed it and threw it directly into the bucket.
Yun Jiao pointed into the puddle: “There’s another one.”
There was also a large brown fish in there. Its color wasn’t as vibrant as a coral trout, and it was hidden among the rocks at the bottom of the puddle, making it almost invisible if one wasn’t paying attention.
“It looks like a tiger grouper.”
Yun Xiaowu rolled up his sleeves: “I’ll get it.”
“Brother, be careful.”
As soon as Yun Xiaowu stepped into the puddle, the seawater came up to his waist.
The tiger grouper in the puddle sensed danger and began to flee frantically.
Yun Jiao suddenly spoke: “To the left.”
Yun Xiaowu instinctively reached to the left and grabbed the tiger grouper by its big mouth.
“Holy crap, it’s huge! Hahaha… This tiger grouper must weigh at least six or seven pounds!”
Yun Xiaowu was strong, but he almost couldn’t hold onto the fish and fell to the ground.
The weight was manageable, but the main issue was that the fish was alive and thrashed, making it heavier.
“Quick, quick, throw it up.”
The tiger grouper was still struggling, and Yun Xiaowu could barely keep his balance.
He forcefully threw the fish ashore, completely out of breath from exhaustion.
Fortunately, it was in a puddle. If he had caught such a big fish in the sea with a fishing rod, he wouldn’t have been able to reel it in with his small physique.
“Our luck today is simply incredible.”
“Let’s not go any further in. Let’s hurry back. If the tide comes in and floods this place, we’ll be very unlucky.”
With such a great harvest today, they could barely carry it all.
Yun Jiao also wanted to help, but the three brothers didn’t want to tire her out.
“Jiaojiao, this one is a bit heavy. Just stay with us.”
Yun Jiao trotted along with her short legs behind her brothers, her childish voice very serious.
“I’m strong.”
“Brother, give me some of it.”
Yun Xiaowu was struggling alone, holding the tiger grouper.
The buckets were already filled with spiny lobsters and the red fish.
The spiny lobsters, with their long legs flailing, couldn’t fit many into one bucket, occupying two buckets in total.
They only brought three buckets to begin with. Another bucket held the red fish, and Yun Xiaowu had to carry the tiger grouper out by hand.
At Yun Jiao’s insistence, they handed the smallest spiny lobster, the one she had bitten, to the little girl.
“Sister, be careful.”
Yun Jiao hugged the spiny lobster and nodded.
This big guy was well-behaved in her arms, not causing any trouble at all.
The spiny lobster, weighing a little over two pounds, wasn’t too heavy for her to hold.
They had only been out of the cave for a short while when the tide started to rise.
Looking at the red fish in the bucket, they became even happier.
“Hahahaha… It’s a coral trout! We’re rich! This trip out made us much more money than Dad and the others!”
The coral trout was quite large, estimated to be at least three pounds.
Yun Jiao glanced at it, regretting that she couldn’t eat it because it had to be sold. The meat of this fish was quite delicious.
When would she be able to go into the sea and catch seafood for herself?
Coral trout is a relatively valuable type of fish, and even those on ocean-going fishing boats might not be able to catch it. The price at the local purchase points has always been quite high.
With their harvest full, the children’s gums were all showing as they smiled, walking with vigorous strides, their short legs moving like generals.
Although their family had repeatedly warned them not to flaunt their wealth.
But Yun Xiaowu and the others were just children. It was impossible for them not to show off after suddenly finding so many big catches.
So, the children, including Yun Jiao, swaggered along the beach, each holding a spiny lobster.
Mainly, it was impossible to hide it.
Those who were tide pooling and hadn’t left yet saw this and their eyes widened.
“My goodness!”
“Oh my, that… that’s a huge tiger grouper!”
“And spiny lobsters! That little Yun girl is holding such a big spiny lobster!”
The people on the beach stopped tide pooling and gathered around the children.
“Holy crap! There are still several spiny lobsters in this bucket!”
“Xiaowu, where did you find them?”
The crowd was so envious their eyes turned red. How much money would all this sell for?
Yun Xiaowu held his head high, extremely proud: “We found them over there. When we got there, these fish were trapped in puddles, and the spiny lobsters were also found there.”
Of course, he wasn’t foolish enough to reveal the location of the cliff cave.
“This… is this a coral trout? Such a big coral trout!!!”
Coral trout are very beautiful, with a festive red body covered in small light blue spots.
This fish is also considered quite expensive, not only because of its beautiful appearance, but more importantly, its flesh is tender and nutritious.
Coral trout are deep-sea fish, and encountering one while tide pooling is indeed very lucky.
“Your luck is just too good.”
“Where did you catch these? Why don’t I have such good luck?”
“You’ve only been out for a short while and found so many rare catches. This trip made more money than those out at sea fishing!”
Although the quantity wasn’t large, they were all rare and valuable items that looked quite heavy.
The luck of these children had already made the surrounding adults so envious and jealous that their eyes turned red.
But no matter how envious they were, they wouldn’t steal from children.
So, Yun Xiaowu and the others held their heads high and triumphantly headed home with today’s catch.
