Chapter 54: Under The Blizzard
Lei Wen thought this blizzard would end soon as before.
However, what he didn’t expect was that the blizzard would continue intermittently for many days.
The work of gathering clay and firing bricks was forced to a halt, and the entire territory entered a state of stagnation.
In February, the blizzard was still ongoing.
The residents within the territory huddled in their homes, warming themselves around a roaring fireplace with their family and friends. Only when the blizzard temporarily subsided would people leave their homes to clear the accumulated snow outside.
The only fortunate thing was that they received enough food before the blizzard arrived.
The food stored in the silo was enough for them to get through this blizzard and this cold winter.
During this season, even the wild Pokémon living in the wilderness were not very active.
Lei Wen had nothing to do. Apart from occasionally calling Anna to guide her and Zorua, he stayed at home with Dratini, Snivy, and Poffin, waiting for the blizzard to end and spring to arrive.
Humans and Pokémon worked together to survive this blizzard.
As an Ice Type Pokémon, Snowrunt was not afraid of the cold.
But even so, when the blizzard arrived, they would still hide under the eaves with the children, watching the heavy snow fall outside.
This was Snowrunt’s second month in this territory.
After this period of getting along, they had already become familiar with the people here and had become good friends with the children in the territory.
Now, Snowrunt lived with its best friends, a pair of siblings no older than six years old, and their mother.
In a small wooden house.
Three Snowrunt, the siblings, and their mother sat around a wooden table.
On the table were several bowls of oatmeal and black bread, fruit that Snowrunt had gathered, and some roasted fish. In front of Snowrunt were several large and plump berries.
Lunchtime arrived, and the siblings cheered.
“Let’s eat!”
“Goo~!”
Then they all began to eat heartily.
Seeing this scene, a gentle smile appeared on the woman’s face.
“Eat slowly. If you don’t have enough, there’s more in the pot. George, Peppa, drink these two bowls of oatmeal.”
Saying that, the woman looked at Snowrunt.
“Snowrunt, you should eat more too!”
“Goo~!”
The three Snowrunt let out happy growls.
The woman watched this scene with a gentle expression.
The two children’s father had unfortunately died in the previous blizzard. Since then, Peppa and George, who had witnessed their father disappear into the blizzard, had lost their smiles.
The siblings were usually silent at home, eating and sleeping, completely lacking their usual lively and cheerful demeanor.
Looking at the three monsters before her, the woman thought that since they arrived, the house had become livelier, and even Peppa and George had regained their smiles.
Gazing at the two children and the monsters enjoying food together, the woman couldn’t help but smile.
Meanwhile, in another wooden house.
Simisear was using its flames to roast Pomelo Fruit in front of Ryan.
“Wow! That’s amazing!” Ryan exclaimed, giving Simisear a thumbs-up.
“Bak~”
Simisear placed the roasted fruit in front of Ryan and the unknown creature.
This was its favorite food when it was still a Pansear.
So now, it wanted the people it liked to try it.
“Huh? You roasted this for me?” Ryan was surprised.
Simisear nodded with a smile.
Ryan sniffed and grinned, “In that case, I won’t be polite!”
He picked up the warm roasted fruit and ate it in large bites.
The flesh was very soft after being roasted, and it felt warm going down.
Ryan felt his body warming up.
“Bak~”
Seeing that Ryan seemed to like the roasted fruit, Simisear was very happy.
It took out a few more fruits from the basket and began roasting fruit for Ryan again.
Seeing this, Ryan was deeply moved.
He immediately hugged Simisear and said emotionally, “Wuwuwu, Simisear, you’re too kind!”
Simisear was startled but quickly recovered, scratching its head a little embarrassedly.
“Bak…”
The same scene played out again in different parts of the territory.
After lunch, Megan and her brother Chris moved the wooden fish tank containing Magikarp closer to the fireplace.
Looking at the Magikarp swimming slowly inside, Megan’s face broke into a happy smile.
“There, Magikarp, now you won’t have to worry about freezing!”
The six Magikarp still had blank expressions, but soon, one of them used its famous move, Water Splash.
Splash!
Instantly, water splashed out of the fish tank, and that Magikarp jumped out, landing on the wooden floor, flopping powerlessly like a salted fish.
Megan was both helpless and amused.
She stepped forward, picked up that Magikarp, and put it back in the water.
Then, Megan sprinkled fruit chunks that Magikarp liked into the water.
“Alright, eat up!”
Magikarp began to Water Splash again.
This was a sign of Magikarp’s happy emotions.
Megan was splashed with water again, and she pretended to be angry, “No more jumping! Or I won’t take care of you anymore!”
Hearing this, the six Magikarp immediately became quiet.
They stayed obediently in the water, eating the cut-up fruit pieces.
“That’s more like it!” Megan smiled, “Eat, eat!”
Monsters might not be as terrifying as people imagined.
Tiny, inconspicuous seeds slowly took root and sprouted in people’s hearts.
Humans and Pokémon began to slowly integrate in this territory during this winter.
This blizzard continued until the end of February before it finally stopped.
With it came the melting of the snow on the ground, the revival of all things, the thawing of rivers, fresh green sprouts growing on the ground, and flowers blooming in the wild shrubs.
Various figures gradually appeared in the earth, sky, rivers, forests, and grass, including some beings that were usually rarely seen.
Wild Pokémon, which had been dormant in their nests all winter, finally began to roam this land again.
In early March, as the weather was still cold, Lei Wen, along with Dratini and Snivy, looked at the gradually reviving and vibrant land before them, feeling an immense sense of relief.
Spring had arrived.
They had finally successfully survived this cold winter.
