Chapter 101: Love Letter
Xie Jingyan said sorry to Mother in his heart.
He might not be able to fulfill the initial promise.
He had no way to face Su Wanyuan.
Her appearance would only make him recall that nightmarish day over and over again.
Once the noise outside disappeared.
Xie Jingyan turned off the living room lights and returned to his room.
Once the time reached twelve o’clock.
Half an hour ago, Jiang Ning had sent him goodnight.
He opened the chat box.
Chunfen: [Goodnight Zhaozhao, sweet dreams.]
……
The next day
Jiang Ning was woken up by the alarm clock; it was seven o’clock.
The first person she thought of was Xie Jingyan.
Yesterday she forgot to tell him not to come today no matter what since his leg was injured; he shouldn’t be that silly, right.
Jiang Ning scratched her hair, then went to wash up.
Yawning as she went downstairs, she casually glanced at the living room.
Oh, Xie Jingyan was there.
Then she suddenly sobered up.
Xie Jingyan???
In her home’s living room?
She looked closely and saw him sitting next to Father Jiang, the two chatting and laughing about something.
Jiang Ning: “…”
Xie Jingyan sensed the gaze.
He looked up toward Jiang Ning and gave her a slight smile.
“…”
Jiang Ning looked strange; how did this guy still come!
She walked up to the two and asked ungraciously, “Why did you come?”
Father Jiang glared at her. “Little Xie came to go to school with you. He’s injured and you still want him to come? What did I tell you yesterday?”
Jiang Ning was dumbfounded. “I didn’t!” She looked at Xie Jingyan. “When did I ask you to come?”
Xie Jingyan pursed his lips. “I came on my own; it has nothing to do with Jiang Ning.”
Father Jiang shook his head helplessly, assuming Xie Jingyan had been threatened by his own daughter again.
He waved his hand. “Go eat breakfast quickly.”
Then he turned to Xie Jingyan and eagerly inquired, “Does that tech stock really have potential?”
Xie Jingyan smiled at Father Jiang. “I can’t say for sure, but I invested ten thousand and it turned ten times. Uncle is a businessman, so you should understand better than me. I only joined the stock market because I needed money.”
Father Jiang was indeed a bit moved.
But it was a new stock, and he feared losing everything if he invested.
He asked, “Little Xie, do you really need money that badly?”
“Yes, there’s an elderly grandmother and a sick sister at home, so I invested in the stock market and took the risk. For this stock personally, I think it will skyrocket.”
Because few people are paying attention now, it’s easy to make money early on. If waiting until this stock takes off, once more people enter later, it will definitely start losing.
Father Jiang looked at Xie Jingyan appreciatively. He hadn’t expected Xie Jingyan not only to study well but also to be sharp-minded in business, bold yet cautious. He just came from a poor background; otherwise, he’d be more than worthy of his daughter.
He watched Xie Jingyan thoughtfully, wondering if he would be willing to be the Jiang Family son-in-law.
But then he thought the two were only eighteen, and felt he was thinking too far ahead.
Another person came down the stairs.
Jiang Li was wearing a black top and jeans, her curly hair loose, and she casually glanced at Xie Jingyan.
Seeing he was unfamiliar, she went to the restaurant and greeted Jiang Ning.
Xie Jingyan’s gaze fell on her. He knew Jiang Li was someone sent by Huo Yu to bring down the Jiang Corporation. He knew her identity, but Jiang Li didn’t know about him and He Shang.
Jiang Ning poured a glass of milk for Jiang Li and pushed it to her.
It was clear the two had a pretty good relationship.
At least on the surface.
After Jiang Ning finished breakfast, Xie Jingyan also stood up to bid farewell to Father Jiang.
Until Jiang Ning saw the bicycle outside, she turned to glance at Xie Jingyan. “You’re something, still coming to trick me.”
Xie Jingyan’s blue-and-white school uniform was open, schoolbag slung over one shoulder. The morning breeze brushed his black hair. He walked much better today than yesterday; young people were resilient.
He sat in front and patted the back seat, turning his head. His handsome face smiled. “Get on; I’ll take you today.”
Jiang Ning looked at him suspiciously.
Having been tricked by him for so long, she was very worried he’d suddenly complain about leg pain midway and make her ride.
“You’ll ride all the way to school?”
“Yes, my leg is better.”
Jiang Ning: “…”
She sat on the back seat, thought about it, and sat sideways, grabbing Xie Jingyan’s school uniform with one hand. “Okay.”
“Jiang Ning! Wait!”
Jiang Ning turned her head and saw Gu Lanli running toward her.
Xie Jingyan reminded her, “Sit tight.”
Then he started pedaling.
Due to inertia, Jiang Ning instinctively hugged Xie Jingyan’s waist, almost thrown off!
She had a face full of black lines. “Why did you suddenly start riding?”
Both facing the wind, Xie Jingyan’s voice was faint. “Didn’t I remind you to sit tight? You got distracted.”
Jiang Ning: “…”
She glanced back; great, riding fast, Gu Lanli’s shadow was nowhere to be seen.
“Didn’t you hear someone calling me?”
Xie Jingyan: “Did I? Should I ride back?”
Jiang Ning: “…”
“Alright, let’s go quickly; we’re going to be late.”
She assumed Xie Jingyan really hadn’t heard.
Because at that time Gu Lanli was still some distance away, and she just had good hearing, right?
Whatever, she didn’t want to run into Gu Lanli anyway, so she said nothing more.
Sitting in the back seat felt great.
At seven fifty, the two safely arrived at school.
Jiang Ning got off and walked straight into school.
“Jiang Ning!”
A shout came from behind.
But the area around school was too noisy; Jiang Ning didn’t hear.
Xie Jingyan turned his head to look, stopped, and blocked Wei Jin’s path. “Do you have business?”
Wei Jin was forced to stop, looking at Xie Jingyan somewhat speechlessly. “I’m looking for Jiang Ning; why are you blocking me?”
“Ninth Middle School class is starting; she can’t be late.”
Wei Jin: “…”
“I said I’m looking for Jiang Ning; move!”
Xie Jingyan just looked at him faintly. “I said she has class.”
His 185 cm height was half a head taller than Wei Jin, tall with long legs, standing out conspicuously at the school gate.
Wei Jin was stumped.
He touched the love letter in his pocket.
He’d planned to muster courage to give it to Jiang Ning, but given the situation, he’d have to wait for next time.
He remembered this guy was close to Jiang Ning, so he narrowed his eyes and asked, “What’s your relationship with Jiang Ning? Is she your girlfriend?”
Xie Jingyan pursed his lips, expression cold. “No.”
Wei Jin breathed a sigh of relief. “Good, I have a chance.”
Xie Jingyan scoffed. “Jiang Ning is the Jiang Family young lady, and you’re just a street thug. Where do you get a chance from.”
Wei Jin didn’t care; he grinned. “Happiness is something you fight for yourself. If you stop because of some difficulties when you like someone, then I guess I don’t like her enough. For Jiang Ning, I’ll make the effort!”
Xie Jingyan found it grating and sneered. “What’s the use of telling me? I’m not Jiang Ning.”
Wei Jin shook the love letter in his hand. “Next time I see Jiang Ning, I’ll tell her too. By the way, brother, are you in the same class as her?”
