Chapter 142: Analysis
So she turned her gaze to Gu Lanli behind her.
Because of his illness, his facial expression was pale, his black hair limp and listless, half covering his eyes.
Su Wanyuan barely squeezed out a smile: “Lanli, you’re awake. Are you hungry? I’ll cook noodles for you.”
Gu Lanli touched his stomach. He was indeed a bit hungry, but he had no appetite. Not wanting to disappoint her, he nodded, his gaze gentle: “Okay.”
Seeing Su Wanyuan still standing at the entrance, Gu Lanli then remembered to ask: “I think I just heard a knock. Did someone come?”
“No!” Su Wanyuan quickly denied: “No one came. It was probably the sound of the wind. You sit down and rest quickly. I’ll make food for you.”
Gu Lanli hesitated and nodded, then looked at the furniture covered in dust. Part of it had been cleaned by Su Wanyuan’s afternoon of effort and was now sitable.
But Gu Lanli, a rich young master who had been raised with a silver spoon, had never lived in such an environment. He immediately frowned and suggested: “Wanyuan, let’s go stay at a hotel. This room looks like no one has lived in it for a long time.”
“No!” Su Wanyuan took a deep breath. Going out now might mean running into Jiang Ning and the others. She must be here because of Jiang Yan, and Su Wanyuan hadn’t figured out how to respond or the words to use to distance herself from this matter.
If she just went out like this, she would definitely give herself away. She didn’t want to go to jail, because she was already over eighteen!
Perhaps because Su Wanyuan’s response was too firm, Gu Lanli was stunned in place.
He moved his lips: “Why?”
Su Wanyuan then realized her emotion was too agitated. She quickly softened her voice, her brows and eyes filled with sadness: “Sorry, Lanli. I brought you to such a dirty place without your permission. But this is a place I used to live, my father and mother’s house. After they passed away, I hadn’t come back for a long time. Because you were sick, I wanted to bring you here to relax. I’m so guilty. It’s all because of me that you suffered this undeserved disaster.”
Hearing this, Gu Lanli quickly stepped forward to wipe her tears: “This has nothing to do with you, Wanyuan. It’s all the weather’s fault. I should thank you. In that extreme environment, you didn’t give up on me. You saved my life. I’m happy and wouldn’t blame you. Since you want to stay, we’ll stay. When you don’t want to anymore, we’ll go back to Jin Cheng. I’ll take leave from school. You don’t need to worry.”
Su Wanyuan finally broke into a smile through her tears: “Thank you, Lanli. It’s great to have you. We’ll stay just for tonight, and go back to Jin Cheng tomorrow, okay?”
Gu Lanli breathed a sigh of relief: “Okay.”
Su Wanyuan pushed him to sit in a clean spot: “Sit down quickly. I’ll cook for you.”
After turning around.
Su Wanyuan’s facial expression darkened.
She naturally had to take the initiative to return to Jin Cheng, otherwise it would seem like she was fleeing out of guilt. Moreover, she had to act innocent and fearful to distance herself from this matter.
Su Wanyuan glanced at Gu Lanli from the corner of her eye. A plan slowly formed in her mind, and the corners of her mouth curved slightly. A ready scapegoat had come.
……
Jiang Ning and Xie Jingyan walked out of this residential community.
It was already six o’clock.
Because it was early winter, the sky always got dark earlier.
Jiang Ning sighed: “Where do we take the bus from? Where is Xiao Ge Town Station?”
Xie Jingyan turned his head and raised an eyebrow: “Who said we’re going back?”
Jiang Ning looked at him in confusion: “Didn’t you say so? We can still catch the last bus.”
Xie Jingyan glanced at the time.
18:05.
He snorted lightly: “The last bus has already left. We’re probably staying in Xiao Ge Town tonight. And didn’t you want to find Su Wanyuan? She’s at home.”
Jiang Ning stopped in place: “No, then why didn’t we keep waiting? I just want to ask her one question. Once I get the answer, I’ll leave.”
“Do you think she’ll come out to see us? You knocked the door down, but as long as she doesn’t make a sound, what method can you have? Breaking into a private residence is illegal. Either contact the police in Jin Cheng to come over with a warrant, and they can get the property management to open the door. But in front of everyone, when you see Su Wanyuan, can you still ask what you want to say?”
Xie Jingyan finished speaking clearly and logically.
Jiang Ning was speechless.
Xie Jingyan was right. When there were many people around, she wouldn’t be able to say what she wanted.
“Don’t worry. Tomorrow morning, I guarantee you’ll see her.” Xie Jingyan turned back and looked at the building where Su Wanyuan lived.
Because with her personality, she definitely couldn’t stay put. She would return to Jin Cheng early tomorrow morning.
He continued: “What I just said, she must have heard it. She knows the police are looking for her. If she really had the intent to murder, then tomorrow she will definitely return to Jin Cheng to prove she didn’t flee, but brought Gu Lanli to her hometown to relax. If she didn’t intend to kill Jiang Yan and all this was an accident, she would have started contacting the police just now. Of course, the latter is unlikely. She needs time to think about how to distance herself from this murder case.”
Jiang Ning listened to Xie Jingyan’s analysis and suddenly felt that was exactly how it was. He even started analyzing Su Wanyuan’s psychology.
Jiang Ning admiringly gave him a thumbs up: “I can tell you know her very well. This childhood sweetheart relationship is real.”
Xie Jingyan gave her a cold sidelong glance: “This has nothing to do with being childhood sweethearts. I just know clearly that she’s that kind of person.”
“Speaking of childhood sweethearts, aren’t you and Gu Lanli ones too? Why don’t you guess what his psychology is like now?”
Mentioning Gu Lanli, Jiang Ning speechlessly twitched her mouth. She thought carefully: “He’ll definitely say to Su Wanyuan with teary eyes, ‘Wanyuan, it’s great to have you. You saved my life. Meeting you is the greatest happiness of my life.’ After all, with his pig brain, he wouldn’t think he was harmed by Su Wanyuan.”
Listening to Jiang Ning’s vivid description, Xie Jingyan’s mouth curved slightly: “So, Gu Lanli this stupid pig is probably going to be slaughtered.”
Jiang Ning nodded in deep agreement.
She then asked: “Do we still have to stay in Xiao Ge Town for one night? I need to send a message to my dad, otherwise he’ll worry. And Meng Xingcan seems to be waiting for me to go back.”
Jiang Ning frowned in distress.
Xie Jingyan didn’t care much: “They won’t leave. You’ll see them when we go back tomorrow. There’s a really good restaurant in Xiao Ge Town. Want to try it?”
Jiang Ning was already hungry.
She urged: “Then what are you dawdling for? Walk faster. I’m starving.”
“Got it.”
The two walked away.
They didn’t notice that an ordinary van parked on the roadside had been tailing them all along.
The car window rolled down, revealing Scarface.
He looked at Jiang Ning’s back view and grinned ferociously. He said into the walkie-talkie in his hand: “Target found. Isn’t that scum Wei Jin so arrogant? I’ll let him taste what it’s like when the person he likes dies right in front of him.”
