Chapter 145: Found Jiang Ning
Just as Jiang Ning was lost in thought.
A gust of wind came from behind.
Jiang Ning instinctively ducked her head, and a stick slammed straight into the wall beside her.
Startled, Jiang Ning’s mobile phone fell to the ground. She rolled forward once and looked toward the person who attacked her—it was a stranger, Scarface.
“Hiding here like a little mouse, did you think we’d only brought this many people? A while ago, Big Dragon and his two buddies—two went to the police station, one died. Did you think our boss would let you off?”
Jiang Ning stared at him coldly. Big Dragon and his two buddies?
Could he mean those three kidnappers?
“Those who do evil will eventually face legal sanctions. I just did a good deed for the people.” Jiang Ning took advantage of the moment to stand up.
But as she turned to run, two more people appeared behind her, blocking her path.
Jiang Ning saw them holding electric batons and stood still without moving.
“Heh, whether they face sanctions or not is none of your business. Since you’re sticking your nose in, don’t blame us for not holding back. By the way, you’re pretty close with that kid Wei Jin, right? Might as well take care of you two together.”
Jiang Ning took a deep breath and cursed bad luck inwardly.
She pursed her lips and asked, “Is your boss Brother Ye?”
“Brother Ye?” Scarface sneered. “Heh, we’re mortal enemies with them. As if Bamboo Leaf Green is fit to be our boss.”
So those three kidnappers had deliberately named Brother Ye as their boss?
At the police station, they had initially refused to admit it, only later letting slip Brother Ye’s name. The police investigated this local tyrant in Jin Cheng but found nothing, as there was no evidence proving Brother Ye engaged in criminal activities.
So those two were sentenced to death.
They never revealed the second person’s name until the end.
Jiang Ning’s mind raced through possibilities, finally settling on one person.
She let out a light, mocking laugh. “Well, that makes sense. The Jiang Family and Brother Ye don’t cross paths, so they had no reason to grab me—they even took the Meng Family’s young master. Let me think, who has beef with the Meng Family? The Huo Family, right? I first provoked Huo Chengxuan the Super Male, then Huo Yu the Crazy Public. The Huo Family is the real power behind your organization, isn’t it?”
Jiang Ning spoke with certainty. Seeing Scarface’s facial expression change slightly confirmed her guess completely.
What a ridiculously crazy family.
Lawless to the extreme, truly arrogant.
If the Huo Family isn’t dealt with, they’ll always be a threat hanging over the Jiang Family’s head.
The two behind approached, holding electric batons.
Scarface grinned maliciously. “So what if you know? Only the dead take secrets to the grave. So, Young Lady Jiang, this remote Xiao Ge Town will be your burial place.”
“Is that so?” Jiang Ning’s tone carried a light laugh.
She cracked her knuckles, gazing sharply at Scarface. “No one else has the right to decide my life or death. My burial place can only be arranged by me.”
“Arrogant! Grab her!” Scarface’s face darkened, and the three rushed at her.
……
Wei Jin dodged around all the way, and at the corner, a cold hand grabbed him.
Scaring him half to death.
He turned to meet Xie Jingyan’s cold, stern dark eyes, then violently shook off his hand. “You scared the shit out of me! What are you doing here?”
“Where’s Jiang Ning?” Xie Jingyan asked.
“Waiting for me in a remote alley. She said you were in Xiao Ge Town too, so out of the goodness of my heart, I decided to take you with us when we leave!” Wei Jin glanced at him sideways, trying to sound righteous.
But Xie Jingyan just smiled, without any warmth. “This group came because of you, didn’t they?”
Wei Jin stiffened, feeling a bit guilty. “No idea what you’re talking about…”
“Wei Jin, I know you mess around out there, but please don’t bring uncertain dangers to Jiang Ning.” Xie Jingyan gave him a cold look.
Wei Jin irritably ruffled his hair. “I know… but I don’t get why these guys tracked down Jiang Ning. I erased all the traces, but they still came.”
Xie Jingyan cut him off. “Enough. Take me to Jiang Ning.”
Wei Jin was annoyed by his commanding tone, as if he were someone to Jiang Ning.
He spoke up discontentedly. “I’ll take you, but don’t order me around. Jiang Ning told me she has nothing to do with you. We’re in fair competition.”
Xie Jingyan glanced at him, flashing a meaningful smile, then pulled up his hoodie hat and walked ahead first.
Wei Jin was a bit dumbfounded.
What was this buddy smiling at him for?
“Why are you smiling at me? So gross.” He caught up to Xie Jingyan’s steps, questioning repeatedly.
But Xie Jingyan looked lazily indifferent, completely ignoring him.
Wei Jin sulked behind. What kind of person is this!
The two arrived at the alley entrance Wei Jin had mentioned.
Xie Jingyan looked at the empty spot and turned to ask, “Where is she?”
“Right here. I told her to hide well.” Wei Jin pushed past Xie Jingyan from behind.
He pointed toward the trash can, but there was no one there.
He was stunned, double-checking he hadn’t gone to the wrong place. “When I went to find you, she was squatting right here. This road is remote, few people, and close to where I hid the car.”
Wei Jin started to panic. “Where’s Jiang Ning? Where is she? Did something happen?”
Xie Jingyan frowned, turned on his mobile phone flashlight, and saw the ground was messy with dirt and many footprints.
At the very back of the trash can was a dropped mobile phone.
Xie Jingyan picked it up and immediately recognized it as Jiang Ning’s mobile phone.
He pursed his thin lips, his face grave.
Wei Jin howled at the sky. “Aaaah, it’s all my fault! If I hadn’t taken those quick-money jobs and made so many enemies, this wouldn’t have happened. I don’t even know why they didn’t come after me but targeted delicate Young Lady Jiang instead. Waaah, is she hiding somewhere now, crying and waiting for me to save her?”
He paced behind Xie Jingyan, muttering to himself. “Don’t worry, even if it costs my life, I’ll save you.”
Xie Jingyan unlocked Jiang Ning’s mobile phone, and the screen showed a very abstract drawing of a bed.
Xie Jingyan looked at his own mobile phone and saw his friend request still pending.
This drawing was probably not left for him, but for Wei Jin.
Xie Jingyan coldly pocketed the mobile phone.
He walked deeper into the alley.
Wei Jin looked up and saw him already fifty meters away.
He hurried to catch up. “Big bro, where are you going? We still need to save her.”
“No need to save her. I know where she is.”
“Huh?” Wei Jin looked puzzled.
But Xie Jingyan clearly didn’t want to say more.
Wei Jin had no choice but to follow.
He needed to confirm Jiang Ning was safe to relax.
Xie Jingyan found her at a hotel in Xiao Ge Town.
She was sprawled casually on the lobby sofa, eating free fruit.
Seeing Wei Jin and Xie Jingyan, she waved toward Wei Jin. “You’re here.”
