Chapter 114: I’m Not Awesome, You’re The Awesome One
That night, a breeze rose, making the tree shadows behind the house shake.
The river water in front of the house flowed swiftly, rushing thousands of miles away, as if hurrying to some dream destination.
The night wind swept across the water surface, stirring up ripples that followed the river beach, blew over the grassland, then touched the window board of the house, drilling in through the specially propped gap at the bottom of the window, emitting a lingering howling sound.
The sultriness of summer slightly receded due to the night’s breeze, but soon surged back again because of the undercurrents inside the house.
Su Ran only felt that the whole night passed extremely long, so long that even the air inside the house became ambiguously sticky.
Her whole body was groggy, like deadwood floating in giant waves, drifting with the current, nowhere to hide.
Until a hazy ray of light suddenly broke in through the window gap, she finally reached the other shore and fell into a deep sleep…
This sleep was exceptionally exhausting.
In the dream, a long golden beach was covered with green soap fruits.
Su Ran carried a backpack picking and picking, tiring until her waist and back ached.
Looking up, the fruits in front spread out piece by piece endlessly, so many that she couldn’t see the end, no matter how much she picked, she couldn’t finish.
But she couldn’t stop the picking action, as if stopping would make some monster pounce from behind and swallow her in one bite!
While she was panting and bending down again to continue putting fruits into the backpack, she suddenly felt darkness before her eyes and a dizzying whirl!
Then, she finally slowly woke from the nightmare of green soap fruits.
She opened her eyes, and it took a good while to realize that the light outside the window was still grayish.
Su Ran huddled in the animal hide blanket, blankly staring at the grayish-white wall opposite, and after a moment, slowly came to her senses.
Gray didn’t know where it had gone and wasn’t inside the house.
She gently moved her leg, wanting to turn over.
But her calf only lifted halfway when a soreness hit her waist, as if it was about to break in half!
She lay still in place, not daring to move, frowning and easing for a good while.
Then slowly stretched her left hand out from the animal hide blanket, borrowing the dim light inside the house, and glanced at the multi-functional watch on her wrist.
After seeing the time clearly, she immediately gritted her teeth and fiercely pounded the blanket beneath her!
It was almost seven in the evening!
She had actually slept the whole day!
Su Ran moved in the blanket, baring her teeth and lying flat on her body.
But as her brain cleared, a strange feeling gradually rose in her heart.
Somewhat fantastical, she hadn’t expected this to actually happen.
Clearly just a few months ago, they were people from different worlds.
Even now, she wasn’t sure if there would be offspring between them.
But the occurrence of this matter seemed so natural!
Like a dream…
While Su Ran was lying there at a loss, a sound suddenly came from outside the house, and two seconds later, Gray lightly stepped in from outside, lifting the curtain.
Upon entering, it spotted Su Ran lying in the blanket at a glance, her eyes open glaring at the roof and grinding her teeth.
“Ran Ran!”
Its eyes lit up, and in two steps it reached the heated brick bed, sitting down smoothly.
After sitting, it bent down, first rubbing Su Ran’s cheek, then heavily kissing her!
This was what Su Ran had taught it last night.
Its mouth still had a faint mint grass taste.
Su Ran was caught off guard by the kiss, and a denunciation she meant for this big-tailed wolf was forcibly swallowed back into her belly!
After a moment, Su Ran panted quickly, her chest pounding thump thump thump.
She glared fiercely at Gray lying beside her, hugging her tightly with a coquettish and pleasing look.
Turning her head, she opened her mouth and bit hard on its taut muscled forearm!
But after one bite, her gums hurt from the hard muscles of Gray. The small tooth mark on Gray’s arm even disappeared in less than a minute!
And what was more infuriating was that after she bit, this silly wolf actually looked happy and praised her:
“Ran Ran, awesome!”
Su Ran: …
Awesome your grandpa, awesome!!
If I’m not awesome, you’re the awesome one…
She sulkily shrank in Gray’s embrace, and after a while, just as she wanted to move, Gray suddenly sat up.
It looked down at Su Ran, eyes full of tenderness: “Ran Ran, eat, Gray made roast meat, sausage, boiled white bean fruit!”
After speaking, it got up and wanted to move to the edge of the heated brick bed.
At this time, Su Ran quickly reached out to hold it: “Hey, wait a moment.”
She looked up at it, feeling for the first time that she could be so delicate.
“Boil some hot water, I want to take a bath…”
…
Forty minutes later, Su Ran used the largest wooden basin in the house to take a comfortable hot bath inside the room.
After washing, even the soreness on her body lessened quite a bit.
Of course, it just lessened; what should hurt still hurt!
After the bath, she changed into a clean and refreshing little camisole and a pair of shorts.
Then she was carried outside by Gray.
Today’s mealtime was already very late.
Gray directly placed the table outside the house, next to the fire pit used for lighting.
Now a campfire was lit in the fire pit, perfectly illuminating the things on the table.
And the table was two meters away from the fire pit.
Su Ran and Gray both sat on the side facing the fire pit, so they wouldn’t feel hot from the campfire being too close.
At this moment, on the table were two whole roasted dwarf deer, plus one roasted white-headed sheep and one roasted wild chicken.
Beside them were several sausages and a large basin of seafood boiled directly in clear water, plus a basin of boiled white bean fruit.
These were all made by Gray while Su Ran was sleeping.
It had been waiting for Su Ran to wake up and hadn’t eaten itself yet.
Su Ran had just woken up, so her hunger wasn’t that obvious yet.
But after smelling the aroma of roast meat on the table, she immediately felt her stomach cramping in protest at her not eating all day, strongly demanding she quickly dig into the roast meat on the table.
But she still ate half a bowl of boiled white bean fruit first to line her stomach, otherwise eating roast meat directly would be too greasy.
Today’s wild chicken wasn’t made into beggars’ chicken by Gray, but directly skewered on wooden sticks and roasted.
The wild chicken was roasted perfectly, with slightly charred and crispy skin outside, tender meat quality inside, and plenty of juices.
Moreover, this chicken wasn’t big, looking like it was an immature young one.
Normally, Gray wouldn’t catch such a small chicken back, because it was too small, sometimes not even enough for Su Ran alone.
But today it specially caught it back.
Su Ran bit into the fragrant chicken thigh in her hand, and with one bite, her mouth was full of the fresh aroma of chicken meat; she happily raised her brow and couldn’t help curving her lips into a smile.
