Chapter 15: Kelp-wrapped Meat
The werewolf looked at the kelp in the river with hesitation, but still somewhat unhappily drooping its fluffy big tail.
However, this bit of unhappiness was immediately thrown to the back of its mind when it smelled the aroma of roast meat gradually wafting out, and it happily accepted Su Ran’s hand-in-hand teaching of turning the roast lamb to ensure the mutton was evenly heated.
Roasting a whole white-headed sheep mutton takes some time, but this also conveniently gave Su Ran time to process the kelp.
The kelp that the werewolf brought back looked completely different from what Su Ran had seen before.
This kelp had a shape that was somewhat round (but mostly irregular shapes like petals) in pieces.
The leaves were very thin, purple-black throughout, with a hard stem in the middle. If it weren’t for the kelp leaves being soft and drooping down, it really looked like a palm leaf fan when held in hand.
Su Ran used the tactical knife to cut a small piece of the hard stem from the middle, pinched it with her nails, and found that it required some force to make a nail mark, obviously the hard stem couldn’t be eaten.
So she shaved off the hard stem from the middle of each piece of kelp, then put the leaves into the stainless steel mug with boiling water.
Su Ran’s uncle’s family lived in a city by the sea, she remembered her uncle saying that fresh kelp should be steamed before eating, or it could be steamed and then directly dried for storage.
But now conditions didn’t allow it, so she could only cook and eat it fresh.
The aroma of the roast meat became increasingly rich over time. And on Su Ran’s side, the cooked kelp had already piled up a small stack.
The mutton wasn’t fully cooked yet, but the outer layer should already be edible.
Su Ran stopped the werewolf from continuing to turn the wooden stick skewering the roast lamb, which undoubtedly gave the werewolf the signal to start eating. Its pair of light brown ears suddenly erected, and the big wings behind it couldn’t help but tremble.
Su Ran couldn’t help but smile watching its actions, who could understand the feeling of having a humanoid fluffy one!
Especially since this fluffy one was easy on the eyes and would act spoiled, how could it not make a girl with no resistance to cute things and bright handsome guys moved!
Su Ran thought that if the werewolf in front of her put on clothes, it would be no different from some popular internet celebrities she used to love watching who liked to wear fluffy ears and tails in videos, or even this werewolf’s figure would be better.
Absolutely slim in clothes, muscular when undressed!
But thinking of clothes, Su Ran suddenly remembered something.
She tried hard to control her gaze that couldn’t stop wandering, and glanced at the werewolf’s bare long legs.
Perhaps she should make some clothes for the werewolf too, after all, they would live together later!
Thinking this way, she decided to do it right after finishing the meal when they got back.
Just then, the last piece of kelp was also cooked.
Su Ran used chopsticks made from branches to take the kelp out of the stainless steel mug and spread it flat on the Sweet Leaf Vein Tree, then poured out the water used for cooking the kelp, and boiled new water for drinking.
After that, she began to dismember the fully cooked white-headed sheep mutton.
She lifted the wooden stick skewering the mutton and gestured for the werewolf to lift the other end.
The werewolf watched her gesture pointing to the other end of the wooden stick, quickly understood her meaning, walked to the other side, reached out with force, and lifted the whole sheep by itself.
After picking it up, it could even analogize and placed the mutton on the Sweet Leaf Vein Tree Leaves that Su Ran had laid on the ground, just like how they ate in the morning.

After putting down the mutton, the werewolf called out to Su Ran, the urgency in its voice already unconcealed.
He stared intently at Su Ran’s actions, and after she cut off a whole sheep leg, the tail with its tip swaying behind him shook even more vigorously.
When he saw Su Ran place the whole sheep leg in front of him, he immediately happily let out a series of high-pitched “ying ying” sounds from his throat, leaned to Su Ran’s side to lick her cheek, and only then began to bury his head into the freshly roasted lamb leg.
Su Ran couldn’t help but rub her cheek that was covered in saliva from the lick, looking at the werewolf whose wings couldn’t even fold up while eating, a surprising sense of satisfaction rose in her heart.
If the werewolf always liked the food she made, then wouldn’t that give her another reason to be kept by the werewolf’s side and protected by it forever?
She cut herself a few small pieces of mutton, but didn’t put them directly into her mouth; instead, she wrapped them in a kelp leaf and took a bite of the roast lamb.
The moment her teeth bit down, first the tender and juicy kelp burst open, then penetrated the lamb surface with caramel aroma, and finally was a burst of perfectly cooked mutton juice.
The texture was simply unbeatable!
Not to mention, compared to the morning’s honey-glazed roast lamb leg that became somewhat cloying with only sweetness by the end, now with an added layer of kelp, the kelp’s freshness also carried a not-so-faint salty taste.
This almost made Su Ran, who had been frugal for days and hadn’t dared to eat much of her remaining salted food, tear up!
The long-lost satisfaction of indulging her appetite really filled her with happiness, she even felt that her courage to survive in this world had increased several times more than before!
Gourmet food can’t be enjoyed alone, especially since the ingredients were all fetched by the werewolf.
Su Ran stuffed the remaining half piece of meat in her hand into her mouth, then wrapped another piece in kelp and held it in front of the werewolf who was happily gnawing on the lamb leg bone.
“Wu?”
The werewolf’s action of tearing at the tendons paused, its round bulging eyes looking at the purple unknown substance brought to its face, its ears twitching twice.
It looked at Su Ran with doubt in its eyes, then put down the big bone in its hand, stretched its neck to sniff around Su Ran’s hand again and again.
“Ao wu~ Ao wu~ Ao wu~”
After sniffing the kelp-wrapped meat, it seemed somewhat doubtful, but hesitated to bite, instead calling out to Su Ran a few times with a puzzled expression.
It seemed this guy knew kelp was edible, but didn’t like eating kelp!
Su Ran silently complained, then manually adjusted it twice, letting the well-wrapped meat piece reveal a corner from the kelp leaf.
Seeing the roast meat inside the kelp, the werewolf leaned forward to sniff again, this time without much hesitation, and with Su Ran’s outstretched hand, opened its mouth and ate it all.
This piece of meat was a bit big, the kelp leaf even larger, all stuffed into the werewolf’s mouth making its cheeks bulge.
The werewolf’s cheeks were puffed out as it diligently chewed the food in its mouth, chewing twice, pausing for a bit, shaking its ears, chewing twice more, pausing again, turning its head to glance at Su Ran.
Su Ran felt the werewolf’s gaze seemed to carry a bit of inexplicable guilt.
But soon, she felt she had guessed the reason for the werewolf’s behavior.
The werewolf really didn’t like the taste of kelp, this bite of meat should have been swallowed after a dozen or so seconds even if hard to chew.
But the werewolf in front of her chewed for a full two or three minutes before laboriously swallowing it down.
Su Ran thought that if she weren’t here, the werewolf probably would have directly spat out this piece of meat with the kelp from its mouth!
