Chapter 21: Preparing To Go To The Seaside!
Because it was already dark when she returned last night, Su Ran’s previous plan to make a pair of small pants for the werewolf upon returning couldn’t be carried out.
After getting up in the morning, she hesitated for a bit, but in the end decided to first figure out a way to get the werewolf to take her to the seaside today.
Compared to making some salt, letting the werewolf who was already bare-bottomed be bare for a couple more days wasn’t a big deal.
Anyway, she’d already seen the werewolf’s key parts for two days, and not just the werewolf’s. She felt that the number of male features she’d seen on males here in the past two days could form two soccer teams…
This morning, just like yesterday, when Su Ran woke up, the werewolf was already no longer in the bird’s nest.
No need to think, it must have gone out hunting.
Su Ran took advantage of this moment to quickly grab her backpack and pull out the small jar of tea leaves she had brought, which was packed in a chewing gum jar.
Then she poured all the beef jerky from its packaging bag out into the small pouch on the outside of her backpack.
She then poured all the tea leaves from the chewing gum jar into the beef jerky’s packaging bag, tied it tight with the spare hair tie on her wrist, and finally put the empty chewing gum jar into her clothes pocket.
She planned to use this jar to hold the salt evaporated from seawater.
After hesitating between the entrenching tool and the multi-tool axe, she set her gaze on the entrenching tool, so she folded it up and hung it on herself along with the water bottle and stainless steel mug.
Bringing these things should be about enough; now she just had to wait for the werewolf to come back.
Su Ran walked to the entrance of the bird’s nest and looked down; just like yesterday, it was unusually lively under the tree now.
But it seemed there weren’t many beastmen who went out hunting?
Su Ran thought of the prey left on the river beach by the beastmen who returned from hunting yesterday, the ones not fully roasted, and guessed whether the beastmen would go eat that remaining food.
As she was thinking, suddenly a flapping sound came from the treetop.
Su Ran looked up and saw a total of four beastmen with wings slowly descending from above her head, each holding a piece of prey in their hands.
Among them was one female beastman.
But this female beastman, aside from a pair of wings, didn’t have any other animal features; her body shape looked almost indistinguishable from a human’s.
It wasn’t until she flew past Su Ran, and Su Ran’s gaze swept over her feet, that she discovered this female beastman’s feet, though shaped like a human’s, had a row of black-gray, finger-thick, hook-like nails that were as sharp and fearsome as the talons of birds of prey in the pictures she’d seen.
The werewolf’s figure followed closely behind these four beastmen.
When it returned, it was carrying a white-headed sheep in its hand.
Su Ran couldn’t help laughing at the sight of the white-headed sheep with its limp body.
It seemed the werewolf in front of her really liked eating white-headed sheep; even though the other beastmen had caught many different kinds and sizes of animals yesterday, it had stuck to this one kind for four meals in a row.
When the werewolf saw Su Ran, it immediately started happily calling “Ao wu ao wu” at her.
As soon as it landed in the bird’s nest, it strode over in one big step, first scooping up Su Ran for an intimate licking face ritual, then reaching to wrap around Su Ran’s waist, wanting to take her flying straight out.
Su Ran quickly pushed away the werewolf’s hand and dodged back a step.
She knew that now, the werewolf wanting to take her to the river beach was definitely no longer just about cleanly processing the prey it brought back.
The anticipation in the werewolf’s eyes at this moment showed its eagerness for roast meat.
But Su Ran had no intention of making fire for roast meat this morning.
She was already impatient to go to the seaside for salt making; making fire for roast meat and eating it now would definitely waste a lot of time, especially since she feared there was a group of beastmen drooling just like it waiting for her over there—then today she wouldn’t need to think about anything else!
The werewolf was stunned by Su Ran’s push, staring at her with wide eyes, a bit incredulous and bewildered in its gaze, but mostly a little sad.
It looked at Su Ran and let out a soft “Ao~”, its voice and gaze carrying a bit of caution, its ears that had been perked up on top of its head slowly drooping down, looking aggrieved yet not knowing what it had done wrong.
The emotion on its face couldn’t even hide, exactly like last night when it was angry!
Su Ran softened at the werewolf’s gaze, quickly stepping forward to pat the top of its head, then rub its wind-and-sun-tanned wheat-colored cheeks, chuckling, “No roast meat this morning; we have more important things to do!”
“Ao wu!”
From the moment Su Ran started speaking, the werewolf’s gaze had been fixed tightly on her eyes.
Those green eyes appeared even more vivid in the dimly lit bird’s nest, making Su Ran momentarily feel as if the werewolf could really understand what she was saying.
However, in fact, the werewolf couldn’t understand a word.
But it could sense her emotion changes based on the changes in Su Ran’s facial expressions and tone of voice.
As soon as Su Ran finished speaking, the werewolf immediately called out clearly and brightly, its tail behind it drooping and swishing.
It could tell Su Ran wasn’t angry or disgusted with it, but it still didn’t understand why Su Ran refused to go to the river beach or what she was saying.
“No making fire in the morning~”
Su Ran tugged at the werewolf’s rough big hand again, then let go and ran to a corner of the bird’s nest, finding the two roast internal organs from yesterday that were still wrapped in mud clods.
There was also a piece of kelp leaf she had deliberately left there.
“Eat this first; we’ll find something tasty for you at the seaside later.”
As Su Ran spoke, she first laid out the sweet leaf vein tree leaves that had been used up in the bird’s nest but not thrown away, then used the entrenching tool to crack open the mud on the two roast internal organs.
The roast internal organs had cooled completely, but the smell had an extra smoky aroma different from when freshly roasted. Su Ran picked out a piece of the now dark red roast liver, cut off a piece and handed it to the werewolf who had squatted down in front of her and was watching eagerly, then cut a piece for herself and tasted it.
This one bite, not exaggerating, nearly made her tongue fall off from the fragrance!
After a night’s gradual cooling, plus the sweet leaf vein tree leaves and mud wrapped around the outside preventing the aroma from dissipating, the roast internal organs now were thoroughly infused with the sweetness of the sweet leaf vein tree leaves and the salty freshness of the kelp.
Su Ran reluctantly cut another large piece for herself, then pushed all the roast internal organs in front of her to the werewolf.
Her heart kept silently reciting:
This isn’t the time to indulge in gluttony; there will be more roast internal organs, and even better roast meat! As long as she had salt, all those gourmet foods in her memory would be possible!
What she needed to do now was feed the werewolf half-full first, then quickly coax it into taking her to find the ultimate assistant needed for making those gourmet foods!
