Chapter 43: Red-skinned Pig
Feeling her pushing action, the werewolf lifted its head.
In the dim light inside the bird’s nest, Su Ran felt as if she saw water glistening in the werewolf’s eyes.
The guilt in her heart deepened rapidly, almost making her soften again.
But in the end, she held back.
She pushed the werewolf’s shoulder again: “Gray, the fire by the riverside hasn’t been extinguished yet.”
Although the werewolf had only learned about a dozen simple words, when communicating with the werewolf, Su Ran had slowly started using complete sentences to talk to it.
Because she felt that over time, the werewolf would gradually get used to picking out the words it had learned from a sentence, then thinking about their meaning to understand what she said.
Just like how little children babble and learn to speak, many sentences are actually learned through their own guesses and thinking.
“Wu?”
The werewolf blinked, looked at her for a few seconds, then reacted and spoke:
“Campfire, roast meat eat, extinguish.”
“Mm.”
Su Ran nodded, repeating its words: “First use the campfire to roast meat and eat, then extinguish the fire after eating.”
This sentence was a bit long, but the key points the werewolf could understand hadn’t changed.
Almost as soon as she finished speaking, the werewolf showed a smiling face.
It first got up from Su Ran’s body, conveniently pulling Su Ran up as well, then leaned in and affectionately rubbed Su Ran’s cheek.
While rubbing, its gaze on Su Ran’s lips gradually became absent-minded.
Su Ran immediately saw the meaning in the werewolf’s eyes, but before she could guard herself, the werewolf had already gently kissed her lips.
After kissing once, it kissed her several more times bit by bit.
This kiss had no flavor of lust; it was more like an action small animals use to express affection.
But at this moment, Su Ran’s chest was beating a bit fast.
Because just now, although she was skin-to-skin with the werewolf, at least the werewolf’s body provided cover.
Making her not feel her completely naked state so obviously.
But now that she was standing, there was no cover in front or behind; the feeling of being stark naked strongly assaulted her brain, shyness and panic controlling her actions. For a moment, she only felt at a loss standing in this space where her full body was visible, under the werewolf’s clear gaze.
After the earlier chaos, the werewolf only now turned its attention to her naked body.
But the werewolf just froze for a moment, then probably realized her body wasn’t much different from other female beastmen, and quickly stopped paying attention.
It even pointed at Su Ran’s naked upper body, its tail behind shaking rapidly, mumbling: “Ran Ran, no, ao wu, great!”
Great?
Su Ran looked down at her own body with a face full of black lines; the werewolf’s current understanding of “great” was probably equivalent to “good,” right?
She guessed the werewolf meant that she looked better without clothes than with them.
But thinking about the beastmen’s generally impressive figures.
Clothes, these things that cover their fit bodies, might really be ugly things in the beastmen’s eyes.
At this point, the werewolf started pulling Su Ran to turn toward the bird’s nest entrance.
When the werewolf turned, it cleared the view in front.
Only then did Su Ran notice a red-skinned pig still lying there.
Seeing Su Ran notice the red-skinned pig, the werewolf seemed very happy. It pointed at the red-skinned pig and said to Su Ran: “Ran Ran, red-skinned pig, hide!”
It emphasized the word “hide” heavily, then looked at Su Ran expectantly.
Su Ran was stunned for a moment, looking down at the sizable red-skinned pig under her feet.
Hide?
She looked at the werewolf: “Red-skinned pig hide, make animal hide?”
For Su Ran’s full sentences like this, the werewolf needed a few seconds to understand.
Once it figured out what Su Ran meant, it grinned: “Mm! Red-skinned pig animal hide!”
The werewolf’s words made Su Ran raise an eyebrow involuntarily.
It seemed the werewolf had specially hunted this red-skinned pig to have her make it into animal hide.
But these past few days, the beastmen had hunted so many kinds of animals; why did it emphasize this red-skinned pig’s fur so much?
“Good, let’s go to the riverside first!”
She couldn’t figure it out by thinking; she’d only know once she made it.
Su Ran nodded immediately, a bit expectant about the special quality of the red-skinned pig hide.
Before going out, she put the wooden bowl and bone knife she made yesterday, along with all the remaining fruit, into a basket. Then she also put the dwarf deer hide that had been drying outside the bird’s nest into the basket.
The dwarf deer hide was still a bit damp, but it felt a little stiff to the touch.
Su Ran vaguely felt in her heart that something was wrong.
Without that kind of reagent to soften animal hide, she might really have a hard time making wearable animal hide.
But for this dwarf deer hide, she decided to try the final step.
When leaving the bird’s nest, Su Ran actively taught the werewolf, having it carry her horizontally as it flew out of the bird’s nest.
She felt this way at least reduced the occasional accidental friction between her lower body and the werewolf’s.
Upon arriving at the river beach where she had bathed, as soon as Su Ran landed, she immediately went to put on her clothes.
Her short-sleeved shirt had already been turned into underwear for herself and the werewolf; now for tops, she only had a stormsuit coat and a sports bra left.
The stormsuit’s outer and inner layers could be separated.
She removed the inner layer, put it on, then put on the underwear she had made for herself from the short-sleeved shirt.
The outer layer of the stormsuit would be washed together with the bra later.
As for trousers, she only had one pair.
She looked at the trousers and hesitated for a while, finally deciding to wash them too.
Anyway, the werewolf had already seen her without clothes; being naked a bit longer wasn’t a big deal.
Not wearing clothes in this world was originally a normal thing.
In such a situation, she just needed to think more openly to live a bit better.
After getting dressed, Su Ran first gathered some fine branches and piled them on the campfire that was almost extinguished.
Then she took the mug of water heating on the stone and set it aside to cool, for drinking later.
Then she started sitting by the river beach washing clothes.
The stain-removing ability of the green fruit pit was pretty good; Su Ran decided to give it a new name.
After thinking it over, she decided to call it green soap fruit.
While she was washing clothes, the werewolf had already quickly skinned the red-skinned pig on the side and cleaned its internal organs.
It even imitated Su Ran’s way and folded the red-skinned pig hide.
Of course, its “folding” could at most be considered bunching it up haphazardly, then putting it in the water and pressing it down with a stone.
Then without Su Ran saying anything, it had already set up branches by the campfire, skewered the pork, and put the red-skinned pig over the fire.
