Chapter 61: Harvesting Animal Hide
It seemed the werewolf wanted to eat the raw meat directly and leave the remaining roast meat for Su Ran to eat.
However, at this moment, Su Ran had already pulled out the bag of self-heating military rations that she had opened a while ago from the backpack, opened all the small packages inside one by one and placed them properly, then added water to heat them.
Now steam was rising from the packaging bag.

After dividing, she placed one bowl in front of Gray and kept the other for herself.

Hearing this from Su Ran, the werewolf still wanted to retort, but in the end couldn’t win against Su Ran, and seeing Su Ran eating the self-heating military rations with a happy look, it finally compromised.

Now the rain outside had intensified a bit. Su Ran and Gray sat at the bird’s nest entrance, and with the cold wind blowing, they already started feeling a bit cold.
They moved back to the grass pile where they slept.
Su Ran re-spread the sleeping bag properly and sat on it with Gray, then she took the few animal hides that Gray had collected at midnight yesterday.
These few animal hides were exactly one each of red-skinned pig hide, white-headed sheep hide, dwarf deer hide, and four-eared ox hide.
At this point, all the hides felt completely dry to the touch, but their dried appearances were all different.
What surprised Su Ran the most was the red-skinned pig hide.
This red-skinned pig animal hide, when fully spread out, felt like it could almost cover a 1.8-meter small double bed.
The color of the hide gradually transitioned from deep red in the middle to pinkish-white at the edges, and the hair length also became shorter along with the color change.

Then Su Ran looked at the other few hides in front of her.
But this time, she immediately saw the dwarf deer hide that had dried shriveled and wrinkled, clearly hardened into a shell.
She reached out and picked up that stiff hide; the one that could originally make a short-sleeved shirt had shrunk to the size that could only make a tube top.
Moreover, it had dried and set in shape, just like those clothes in the extreme northern cities on Earth in winter that froze stiff while drying outdoors and could stand on their own.
At this point, though this hide wasn’t stiff enough to be unbreakable, it definitely couldn’t be used.
Su Ran tossed the dwarf deer hide in her hand and helplessly set it aside.
She had thought that the dwarf deer hide, with such great elasticity when not yet dry, would be the most suitable material for making clothes among the hides.
Then she picked up the four-eared ox hide and white-headed sheep hide to look at them. The four-eared ox hide was very thick, had some softness, but because of the thickness, it wasn’t soft enough to fold easily.
As for the white-headed sheep hide, the elasticity was similar to the four-eared ox hide, the thickness was between the four-eared ox and red-skinned pig, but because of the extra-long hair across the back, Su Ran still couldn’t put it down.
None of the hides had any strange smells; because they had been cleaned with soap fruit pits, they all carried a faint fresh scent of soap fruit pits.
Su Ran directly spread the four-eared ox hide with the fur side up on the grass pile.
Then she lay down to try it, and sure enough it was very soft. After lying for a while, it gradually warmed up underneath her.
Su Ran decided to use this hide as the bed padding first.
As for the other two hides, she decided to use them to make summer clothes for herself and Gray.
